Stopped in on a weekday afternoon for a late lunch with my hubby and our six month old daughter. We chose to dine in and most of the tables were blocked off for social distancing. The atmosphere here is dated but looked legit. We decided to get the two piece haddock dinner chips and coleslaw to share - it was the perfect amount of food for us. The fish was tasty, the batter was super crispy and not greasy plus the chips were delish as well. I also really enjoyed the creamy coleslaw too. Will definitely be back again the next time a fish and chips craving hits!

Friendly service. As good as my father's. The fish is light and flakey the batter is golden with just enough crunch. Oh so good.

    Haddock only $8.95

Decided to try this place out by my son's dance school. It is worth the visit. The prices are reasonable and in line with most fish and chips places. It is family owned and ran. The fish is very fresh and very juicy. We ordered 3 haddocks 1 with chips and a side order of onion rings. The portions are large. The batter on the fish is great. It is not doughy but light and crispy. The onions rings are good for 3 people at least also came with a light batter. I just wished that they served coleslaw with the orders. I guess that's kinda the thing with fish and chips it's a bit monochromatic. I also wished they served rice. Just to cut on the fried on fried. Service is good and the place is clean. While we were there a lady came by and mentioned it was her first time there. She decided to visit as a referral from hockey dad's in her son's team saying it's the best fish and chips place around. Worth the visit if you feel like fish and chips.

With only 6 reviews, I was a bit hesitant to try the place but my craving for F&C won out and I stopped by for a lunch the other day to see what the hype was about. The place is surprisingly spacious with about 12 tables for dine in. Location is a bit strange since there really isn't a lot in the area, but they seem to be doing okay regardless. The staff is super friendly and quick with the orders. I ordered the haddock special to go for $13 and was impressed with their portions. They were big. Like my husband ate my fries and didn't snack before dinner. The batter on the fish is perfect and the fries and fish have the right amount of crunch. Ask for more ketchup of you're getting take out, two packets is not enough! Great prices, amazing portions, friendly staff, big clean restaurant: clearly the makings of a 5 star :)

The boyfriend had a craving for fish n' chips, so I turned to the lovely yelp list for local places and we decided on Fisherman's Plaice. The location is in an industrial area, which explains its early closing times. The inside is a total flashback in terms of decor, very basic but standard for most quality fish n' chippers. We arrived at 5pm, which is early for dinner, so it was just us plus an elderly crowd. Over the next hour, the restaurant filled up and take out orders were always 4-6 people deep. We both ordered the haddock special, which comes with fries, coleslaw and a drink. Plus, we ordered onion rings and pickled beets. Given it was our first time, we had no idea about portion sizes. In hindsight, the onion rings were a mistake as portions are very generous! Our food arrived 10 minutes after ordering, so no complaints there. We were so excited about the delicious looking fish, we commenced shoveling and immediately burned ourselves on the freshly fried goodness. Everything seemed to be housemade. As a previously yelper stated, you can watch them hand dip the fish. I wasn't a fan of the coleslaw, but my boyfriend liked it. Fish was light and crispy and not overly oily like some places The fries were good and plentiful. Service was incredibly pleasant and efficient. Obviously run by an adorable family who care very much about their business and their regulars. We will be returning to the Fisherman's Plaice.

    Must try fish and chips.

Just discovered this place and we love their fish and chips. It's not greasy and packaged really well when you order it for to go. I'm not a pop drinker and I've been loving their lemonade.

Update: they now offer house made tartar sauce! 5th star is earned. And the house made pickled beets are excellent.

One star for the convoluted business that it is…read more So I arrived at the restaurant to take my mom out for a fun night of Egyptian food, the restaurant occupied two commercial units thought its very unusual why they don't unify it was one unit. One side is for takeout but patrons are sitting there to dine in and the other side is for dine in, but the employees also do take out. Confusing YES. So I arrived in blindly following a line. I eventually tapped the person behind me, is this the line to get a table. He says no it's the line to order... okay. About 20min in the line I finally get the deal what everyone is doing, they order their seafood order at the front where the precious alive seafood is stored- it's like a pick what you eat counter. So I order their sangarita with a salad and yellow rice and a calamari with no sides (you save like $4 for just skipping that). After ordering she asked if I had a table?? I said no, then she comes out with seven yellow sticky notes and says there are 6 parties waiting for a table. I asked how long? Maybe 40min. She also advises me that i can put myself on the list for a table and she can hold my order up to 45min- they won't start cooking until you have a table. So I asked how long for takeout, she says 20min. Well I did my math, I waited 20min in line, and 20min for food that is not partially cooked so 40min, I can live with that. Watched the server rip the slip, and just fyi the fish was charged at $35/kg costing $60 and the calamari at 1lb was $22. She asked me to wait on the side, saw her put the slip with the raw fish and placed it ON THE FLOOR behind the counter. As I waited on the side I can see quite a number of orders piled in Rubbermaid containers on the floor. Behind the counter I can see the coats of the employees piled up next to what looks like to be the washed cutlery for table service and the employees use the same yellow rag to wipe every cutlery. I also saw employees clear the tables and return to prepare more cutlery- did they wash their hand in the kitchen??? I was then prompt to pay on their pay unit. It prompted me tip. SKIP tip for takeout. Then she tells me it's 2% charge if I pay credit card no charge for debit. So I pay debit. I waited patiently, I stood near the washroom and overheard how a male customer found a $100 bill in the washroom and handed it to the restaurant- they didn't even ask around if anyone dropped it. Then when I had waited 30min (10min past the estimated time, I asked for an update ). They assured me 10 more minutes. Then after 10min I asked again, they said 1min. And then they came out with my take out. The gave me a complimentary hummus for the slow service, but I don't think it made up for the undersized sides they served me. Just look at my pic and look at the website photo. Overall , if you have 2-3hours this is your place. THIS PLACE WAS ABSOLUTELY CHAOS! I'm questioning food stored on the floor even though it's in a Rubbermaid and then that bin placed back on the scale, touched by the gloved hands and potentially cross contaminating food. During the whole time I didn't see anyone clean or mop the floor- what if people are trekking sidewalk salt in the winter. I am really concerned. Eat dangerously here if you want. I do say the food was seasoned well but won't be returning.

We came for bbq so it was news to me they had hot pot as an option as well. Anyway, we opted for the black menu as there was a great variety on it already. I'm not sure how much my friend putting us on wait list before arriving helped but we waited about 30 mins before it was our turn. There were 5 of us (4 adults and one toddler) and we were in a booth for four adults. The booths are pretty small considering all the things you can order. Luckily our booth was against a wall with space to put the dishes that didn't fit on the table. Dinner service was very busy as it was difficult to flag down a server to order. Once we ordered, the meats came out very fast. I think the cuts offered at Shinta are high quality for an AYCE restaurant. Currently Shinta offers an order of free A5 wagyu with your dinner. Everyone really enjoyed the Wagyu, even my toddler! The sushi that they offer was also good. I opted to eat less sushi to fill up on the meat. For dessert, the majority of us got the mango pomelo sago. It was refreshing! Overall, I really enjoyed Shinta and will be having my birthday dinner here next month! They also offer a free 6" cake if you reserve at least three days in advance.
