I ordered 3 writing journals and 2 magnets on Friday morning last week, anticipating I'd receive them at some point later this week, per the shipping info. To my surprise, they were delivered in my mailbox the next day with Saturday afternoon's mail drop. I will continually support them as an African American business, not only because of THAT (it's one of the reasons though :-), but I will go out of my way for good, prompt service. I cannot recommend Black Gifts.com based on my experience. The company does not stand behind the quality of its products once the return period has expired. Even when the issue appears to be the result of poor manufacturing, their position is essentially that it is no longer their responsibility. A company that truly values its customers should stand behind the quality of its products, especially when a defect becomes apparent through normal use. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I recommend shopping elsewhere. read more

The website is easy to use and the products are varied. My complaint is that they do not have an option to send a message along with the items. Therefore, the recipient has no indication of who the gift is from. I called them to express this. I was told that they were aware, but their business platform did not allow this feature. This is not a satisfactory answer, as most online businesses do include an option to include a message with the gift. read more

I absolute LOVE this company! Starting of with the products, product isn't just nice, it's great! The quality, graphics on stationery products to fabrics on Tote Bags, Throws, and Pillows - it's great for the price. All my friends are satisfied with purchases and gifts they received! From the customer service to the owner of the company - it's amazing on how much they are willing to go that extra mile for a customer. Even though during the busy season, it gets a bit crazy - they are there to help and make sure everyone gets their orders in and received! I have never seen such a great team work they have been doing, improving each season. No wonder they have been in business for more than 26 years! As an African-American, I often find myself seeking to patronize African-American owned/operated, or organizations/businesses that aid in the benefit or uplifting of African-American. I thought that patronizing the African American Expressions business would be one of the many ways I could do so. Never did I consider or foresee that I would receive the HORRENDOUS, INEFFICIENT, AND UNPROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT I RECEIVE TODAY (12/12/2017, order number is 280856-001)! At approximately 4:20pm today, I placed a call to 800.684.1555- the Customer Service number for African American Expressions. The CS Rep, Olivia, gave the opening greeting, asked how she could help me and when I began to actually share how she could, clearly annoyed, she cut me off. The purpose of my call was to address a refund, as I had overpaid the company. Olivia became accusatory using phrases like "well maybe if you stop talking", "I already read the notes", "well had you read the terms and conditions", "you're clearly defensive", "I'm going to disconnect"- to name a few of those that I can remember. I am almost certain that her tone, phrases, and overall unprofessionalism is not what the company wants as their image. I asked if their call center was outsourced-attempting to find a reason that would justify such unprofessional behavior. Turns out it is not! African American Expressions personally hires people like her! I am also positive that I am not the only individual she has talked to in this way. It was so bad that I even took a moment to ask Olivia if she was having a bad day, in which she replied "No". Throughout the call Olivia can be heard cutting me off, not allowing herself to understand my issue. It appeared that Olivia was more set on "teaching me a lesson" about all the things that I should have done to avoid having to call (her), rather than, as I reminded her several times during the call, focus solely on providing a solution to the reason I called. Throughout the call Olivia continued to say "Well, in the future you need to..."- but much like I informed Olivia, there is not future business that will be had between myself and African American Expressions, and I will do my level best to encourage avoid this company as well. I am gravely disappointed, and can only hope that Olivia will be reprimanded appropriately. read more

Worst customer service ever. When you place an order expect a month to receive it. They will make promises on how it should be received within 7 days with the outrageous ground shipping fees over 9.00 or more. When I asked for a refund they said send it back at my cost for a refund. You're on hold over 18 min due to multiple complaints. read more

I'm not sure what's going on with African American Expressions??? However they seem to have hired some really unprofessional people. Also the Owner (Perkins) of the company doesn't return calls, or have concern regarding its customers. My customer has been patiently waiting on an order since March. As of today still no resolve or item ordered. I gave them two stars because I'm a fair person but that's the only reason. My customer is still waiting on her order and it's now June 10th. No resolve, solution or concern.... My customer finally got her item After 6 months... the company had a I don't really care attitude and so what.... As an to support companies owned by African American as often as I can. I am not happy with my experience with this company. I ordered 5 set of luggage tags to give as Christmas gifts. About a week later, I received my order however they only sent me 2 sets out of the 5 that I ordered with no explanation regarding the other tags I had ordered. I had to email this company and find out what was going on with my order. I got a response back stating that they were sold out of the other 3 sets of tags that I had ordered which was why they only sent the 2 sets. I really think that an email would have been appropriate because if they couldn't deliver on what I ordered I would have just cancelled the order. I am returning the luggage tags they sent me, and I have to pay for the shipping costs. To me that is unacceptable to have to pay the shipping costs twice. Not happy with their service at all and will not order from them again. The one star is for the customer service because both times I called in the young ladies were professional, sweet and definitely willing to help. I placed an order for an important date and not only didn't it ship it wasn't even picked from the warehouse, it was just sitting there in pending status.
