Fufu and pounded yams.

Everything I ate was very tasty. Unfortunately, one meal had a hair in it, so I had to throw it all away. The portions were very large.

Eguise and fufu, Jollof Rice & Jerk Chicken ( Medium)

Just stopped by for dinner during our brief stay in Louisville and the food is amazing! My husband had eguise and fufu and I had the jerk chicken with rice. Both dishes were amazing! Plus the staff is super kind and clearly cares about the food they are serving. Thank you!

Loved the food here! I had jollof rice, jerk chicken, fried plantains, coleslaw, and hot pepper sauce. Super delicious, all of it! I was inspired to try jollof rice etc. from the stories of Nnedi Okorafor (Binti stories et al), and am so happy to have found this place! I took a couple meat pies for later along with my leftovers from the generous meal. Lovely folks too. Definitely recommended!

Jollof Rice & Fried Fish( Fried Plaintain & Coleslaw) ( Large) - fish was cooked to perfection.

This is what one of my friends calls "home food." I haven't had West African food in years. Africa Best delivers what its name says. Fried fish was cooked to perfection--flaky, moist, and crispy down to the tail. (If you've never eaten the fried tail on a fish, try it. Crispy deliciousness.) And the peanut soup...spicy, rich and flavorful. If you're looking for an food adventure, if you love Liberian/Nigerian food, this off-the-beaten-path restaurant is the place to go. I'll definitely be back.

I ordered late as I was on my way home from work and the food tasted still fresh. When I had first called the person to answer had insisted that I call back when I was closer in route so that my food wouldn't be cold upon arrive. I'm glad he did that because not to long after I had been stoped by a train. Ikr! When I had finally gotten there a guy had kindly let me know that someone should assist me soon. Not too long after a beautiful young woman came out to bring me my food and take payment. I thought this was a plus due to the fact of me getting there close to shit down; that everything was done in a timely professional manner. I can't wait to be served by them again! The plantains were the best ones I've had this far and I've tries a couple in the past.

Meat pies

I finally found some good Egusi in Louisville. It was so flavorful and just spicy enough... some might even like it more spicy. The meat pies were fresh and packed with savory beef. The staff were very kind and accommodating. I will most definitely be back and recommend you go too if you love good authentic West African food!

I think I read somewhere that this was a West African This is an amazing Liberian restaurant. (not…read morethat I have a big frame of reference but everything I got was really good. Not even sure how I found it but I think it's run by a couple of sisters. Super nice service, very spacious, plenty of indoor seating, easy parking. I like that it feels open and homey. I got the Liberian Gravy w/ shrimp and the Torborgee with rice. The Liberian gravy really reminded me of a chinese egg and tomato dish. The gravy isn't like your typical brown gravy. It's more of a tomato based sauce flavored with some spices. It's pretty hard for me to describe... but it is more on the tart side as far as savory dishes go. Torborgee was more my speed. The beans were cooked to a nice soft consistency and felt nice and hearty since it was so cold outside. I loved the flavors it was cooked with beef in it which gave it an amazing heartiness. very earthy flavors. 10/10 would get again. Wish I got to try the fufu but. alas. maybe on a different trip. Got some kanyan to go. kinda like rolled balls of crunchy bits and peanut butter? or something? tasted kinda nutty, felt like it had crunchy bits of dry noodles or something w some nice spices and sugar. Was definitely an interesting snack, would get it again. oh they also make this chili paste? in house which is SOOOOOOOOOO good. reminded me of this african chili oil i had a few years back. man. would come back for that alone.

I mean the food was cooked to order by her mother. The spices delighted my palate! I'm so glad Yelp lead me here! The menu has a variety of food. I'm so happy and full!

It was just ok. I probably wouldn't come back. We ordered…read morethe okra soup with fufu and chicken and rice with coleslaw and plantain. The soup flavor was different and I would have been able to eat it, however, there were so many bone chips/chunks. Almost every bite I took had bone in it. I couldn't eat any more of it. The fufu was interesting. It didn't have much flavor, but my daughter loved it! That is pretty much all She ate. The chicken and rice was very good! It was very flavorful and yummy. The plantains were probably some of the best I have had. We got 2 dishes for 4 of us...2 adults and 2 kids. Had we actually eaten the soup it would have been a sufficient amount of food for all of us, so the serving sizes were generous. Just about all the dishes were $20 each. The service was pretty blah. There were teenagers working and not being very attentive. The girl that took our order and rang us up tried to drastically undercharge my husband. Good thing he is honest because he had to ask several times if that was the correct price, she finally figured it out. There was a young man who took over when she left. He was more attentive than she was. If someone wanted to come here and pay for it, I would join them, but I wouldn't choose to come here again on my own. I wanted to get a picture of the chicken and rice but I couldn't before my kids dug in.

It was a Thursday when I went in, so I tried the Thursday special of egusi, which is a seafood soup with lots of vegetables and herbs. While it was not my cup of tea, I definitely wanted to try something I knew nothing about, and I'm very happy I tried it. I also tried the fufu, and this was super interesting, and I did enjoy it. The locale is very unassuming, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I can't wait to be back in the area to try more new dishes!
