I had a very disappointing experience at this braiding salon. I asked for full small-medium boho braids, but the stylist provided medium-large braids instead with very large gaps/ different sized boxes (pictured). My head was literally cold. I addressed the issue as she worked from the back to the front of my head, but despite my feedback, she didn't change the braiding pattern. I mentioned my concerns again at the end of the service and during payment. I initially came during her promotion for new customers but outside of the previously established adjustment, none were made for the outcome of the service/style received. Afterward, I communicated with the stylist for hours, trying to resolve the situation. She initially promised to make it right on a future visit, but when I reached out to schedule that visit, she claimed she wouldn't be available for at least a month or two. This seemed incredibly unlikely, as African braiding salons often have same-day availability. Later, I found out through a friend that an appointment for the same exact style was available the very next day. When I confronted her about this, she denied giving me the runaround and claimed she was about to contact me with an appointment. This felt like an attempt to gaslight me and avoid taking responsibility. In 2025, customer service should be built on integrity, professionalism, and respect, especially within communities of women of color. I would not recommend this salon based on my experience, as I feel my time and concerns were not valued nor was an apology extended. Also, the salon was not the cleanest and would recommend wearing layers of clothing. I debated posting this review as I know the owner already demonstrated a lack of accountability and is not receptive to feedback. She's made several outlandish threats if I shared my experience publicly -- could be why there's so few reviews for a business that has been open for years. Was really looking forward to my first appointment here- gave 2 stars cause they do have good pricing but this was not the experience I was hoping for. I requested appt via text with the service provider a week before the desired date. I requested a wash+ blow dry and large "island twists" with boho. On the website it says to bring your own bundles for the boho pieces. On the day of my appt I arrived 10 minutes early...no one was there. But I seen the IG active and posting on their story. I called and texted for 30 minutes before getting a response back that someone will be arriving "soon" bc they forgot their salon key. My appt started 45 mins past my schedule start time. Then the service provider was completely unaware of what she was supposed to be doing to my hair. The wash and blow dry was pretty rough. I showed her pictures, from their IG profile of the large twists I wanted. she informed me that the ones in the inspo pics were medium... once we finally found a reference pic for large twists (on tik tok) we agreed and I gave her my bundles for the boho she then proceeds to tell me I can't use the hair I brought (no reasoning given) and asks if I would like to purchase hair from them... I decline. By the end of the appt she ended up giving me boneless twists! The parts were HUGE with twiggy, skinny twists bc she didn't use enough braiding hair. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt and let the style marinate thinking it would look better on day 2....nope read more

As I recently relocated to SF from Oakland, I was in search of a local Braider. I found her as on Craigslist and reached out for an appointment. I received a request for $25 to hold space for an appointment the next morning for knotless singles which would go towards the service. The next morning I received a text message saying "good morning see you soon". Lima was extremely professional and did an excellent job. She paid special attention to small details with my hair/scalp that increased my confidence in her skills. I HIGHLY recommend Lima, next time I will try cornrows or something different. read more

The style came out nice, but that's where the positive experience ends. During braiding, my stylist (I think was Lima) was very rough on my natural hair and combed from root to end ripping my hair out. My hair is thin so I asked her to be more gentle and I was ignored. I should have left there, my fault I guess. I requested goddess braids and recieved that but the style didn't last. A few days with the style, and the curly hair was already slipping out of the braid. Taking the braids down, I can see the damage to my natural hair and also finding blunt cuts where my hair was cut without my permission. DO NOT book if you care about your natural hair!! read more

I recently had my hair braided at "African Braids by Lima" - located in Daly City. From the very moment I made contact with Lima, she was very friendly, accommodating, patient and kind. I had a lot of questions because this was my very first time getting braids. Lima answered all of my questions, such as, confirming what "look" I was hoping to receive, helped select the best hair color and length of braids for me, and also tried to put me at ease.
