He started out doing my haircuts, and I've always appreciated how patient he is--he truly takes the time to make sure you're happy with the result before you leave his chair. About four years ago, I started seeing him for color as well. We alternate between partial and full balayage, and the results are always stunning. While he's great about showing me color samples to ensure we're on the same page, I've reached a point where I trust his professional judgment completely. I would 100% go here again. Star was incredible!! He was so kind and made me feel comfortable the entire time. There was a language barrier because I do not speak mandarin and ai only understand bits and pieces but he used a translator that was actually very heartwarming to communicate with me. Despite the language barrier, he thoroughly explained everything to me and continually checked in via translator. I should note he does speak some english and he speaks very well. I got a haircut and a digital perm and I am in love with it. I have gotten so many compliments and I will 100% get it again. He also taught me how to style and take care of my hair since this was my first time getting a digital perm. The salon is very clean and welcoming. Everything is high quality and i witnessed at least four guests come in for haircuts and leave happy. They all spoke with the other hairdresser and I could tell the other hairdresser was very kind as well. He actually helped me at the end of my appointment to explain how to take care of my hair since he speaks both mandarin and english fluently. I cannot stare enough how thrilled I am with my service and i have and will continue to recommend this place in the future. Decided to get the haircut today since my birthday is coming soon and now I don't even feel confident going out or meeting people with this haircut. I've never felt sad(I'm literally holding back my tears) and frustrated over a haircut before. This is probably the worst haircut I have ever had. I wish I could turn back time and have my old hair again. Update: Zee contacted me and explained that they gave me that haircut because the one I wanted wouldn't match my face shape. I didn't know I couldn't choose the haircut I want because of my face shape. He offered me a free haircut next time, but I told him I don't feel comfortable coming back after this experience and asked for a refund instead. He agreed and then asked me to delete my review. I said I could add one more star, but I didn't want to remove the review because I wanted to keep it real. After that, he stopped replying and I still haven't received a refund. I found a highly-rated hair salon on short notice, but unfortunately, I didn't get a hairstyle I was satisfied with. I'll have to go to my usual salon tomorrow to have it fixed. I originally have very short hair, above the ears. I brought a photo of a male celebrity to show the style I wanted because I didn't want a feminine style, so I chose a male hairstylist. However, the stylist told me that because I am female, I needed to purchase a female haircut. I explained that I didn't want a female-style cut, but the stylist did not agree. I then asked if I could cancel the appointment. The stylist said that due to my hair length, there would be an extra charge of 15 dollars, and I agreed. The result was disappointing. There was a strange curve on the left side, and when I asked for an adjustment, it became even stranger. My hair was already too short to fix properly, so I gave up. I decided to try styling it at home with a small curling iron to achieve a cute look. Overall, the final aesthetic felt somewhat outdated. The stylist suggested that perhaps I wanted a more glamorous style. That's when I realized that although I had clearly expressed that I wanted a male-style cut and provided a male celebrity photo as reference, the stylist didn't understand my intention or preference. I believe my experience is an exception, as I noticed the salon has many loyal customers and high ratings. I hope sharing my experience can help the salon improve communication. I got a haircut with Star. He butchered one side of my hair, cutting a chunk of hair too short and heavy to be fringe bangs. When I questioned it during the cut, he said my previous cut was too layered and proceeded to cut the front shorter, without any attempt to blend it into the rest of the cut. At the end when I was paying, Zee (owner) suggested I could get it permed to the side and Star said I could wear it to the side with bobby pin. How can they justify having someone leave their salon with that advice after paying $85 for a haircut??? I'm going to have to go to my regular stylist to ask her to try to fix it now. read more

He was able to give me layers, which a lot of other hair stylists weren't able to do and so the back of my head looks a lot more stylish and easier to style as well. My usual barber in Cupertino is booked and I wanted to clean up my longer hair - booked appointment on Thurs for Sat (today) with Joanne, and they somehow re-booked with Rex which I thought whatever. Came in at 9:55am and saw Rex walking in after and took me in, so I guess I'm the first customer! Told him I just wanted to clean up my mid split 2 block med-long hair style, short on the sides and keeping the top long. He started combing my hair for a min and then the owner I think told Rex to shampoo my hair so then I got up and got ready. Idk why but the shampoo process took such a long time - longer than my usual salon. But the massage was nice. He told me to keep my hair gown on to do the shampoo which I usually take off. Overall I'm content with it. He gave me what I asked for, and didn't cut it too short. I'm glad he was able to cut my hair more after I told him I'd like it shorter and gave him a reference. The cut didn't feel 2-blocky like how my korean barber cuts but it looks fine to me. I think I'd try again and hope to give him 5 stars next time :) read more

I had my hair cut by Star. I've never had anyone actually measure carefully how to cut my hair before. Instead of taking shortcuts, Star spared no effort to use the proper tools that goes with each technique. You can tell that he is really dedicated to his craft. It was my first time experience going to Z Touch Salon. I indeed had high hope base on all the positive reviews on Yelp. It's unfortunate that I was one of the few not too pleasant case. Please don't get me wrong, both Zee and his assistant were nice. The salon was organized and clean. There was a cut dog in the back too. It was the hair cut that led to the disappointment. My appointment started shortly after 5PM. I had my hair washed first, very detailed wash. By 5:27PM, my haircut was done. Therefore, it only took him about 15 minutes max for my hair cut. Zee cut my hair while they were wet. There was no initiative to do "check and balance" after the blow-drying was done. Cutting wet hair and dry hair make difference. This has been the essential steps in higher end salon or the one that I have been to for years. At the moment, I told myself not to judge so fast therefore, I didn't say much at the salon. He charged $80 for "long hair" when all he did was to chop off the split and dry ends. $105 including tips for this haircut is not worthy. Upon washing and blow drying my hair the next day at home, I found uneven choppy hair. Two sides of my hair had different length. I have thought of connecting with Zee about this but decided not to as I don't want my hair to be further messed up. It's great that there are so many positive reviews for this business. Thougb I had the consideration of having color service there; I am afraid tht this is not the salon for me. Update as of 09/03/2024 -- Zee reached out to me about the experience. He offered the option to make it right by going back to his salon. I shared my fear of further damage since the difference on both side is about a inch to a inch and a half if not two. Zee opted in to refund the $80 service fee and expressed the wish for me to remove the review. I kept my promise to provide an update but not removing it to keep the authenticity. read more

To preface, I've been wanting to get a haircut ASAP but every salon I've been trying to schedule with was too long of a wait. But I was happy to find Z Touch Salon and saw that they do walk ins. So I had my husband call to make sure and luckily they had availability same day! So when I arrived, there was no wait at all. Star was my hairstylist and he was amazing. I knew right away I was in good hands. The hair wash he did was very relaxing and he really took his time (did not feel like I was a rushed client at all during this visit). I came in with very long hair and it can be really difficult to untangle after a wash. But Star was fantastic with it! Usually it always feels like I'm having tug-of-war with my hair at other salons, but Star was an expert at detangling my hair and I had no scalp pain during or after! Star was very straightforward, you show him a reference picture and he was ready to go. I personally love that in a hairstylist! I don't need much conversation as long as my hair is getting cut the way I want (and if you're like me, you'll love getting your hair done with Star)! Star is a very detail-oriented hairstylist! He double checked with me multiple times asking if I liked the length and how my haircut was looking. He was also very open to making any minor adjustments when I asked. I never been here before but had two friends recommend it so I thought I'd try it. Z was a very friendly guy, super personable and it seems like a lot of returning customers when I was there for those 30 mins. He asked a lot of questions prior and during the cut - such as what kind of haircut, how many inches, what style of layers, etc. I can see why people come back. Just to give you an idea, my hair was frizzy, fine, wavy and oily. I showed up with oily unwashed hair. Services I used were hair wash, hair cut and hair set.
