Oxtail Vegan Plater, Side of Yellow Potatoes, Side of Veggie Rice, Side of Sauteed Cabbage

All the meat is exceptional! I've never had oxtail before and this was beyond delicious. The chicken has a very smoky flavor and it was all so tender. The rice with dream sauce was also yummy, the spicy dream sauce is HOT obviously too hot for me but my kids loved it. The potatoes were soft and buttery and the plantains were sweet with crispy edges we all really enjoyed this meal and will be ordering again! The peanut butter sauce wasn't our favorite but I'm not a big fan of peanut butter anyway. We all just wanted to try the Fufu but I think we should have gotten something more saucy to enjoy it.

It began by searching for the best oxtails near me, African dream cuisine was suggested. I got the oxtail platter and it did not disappoint! The food was amazing. I will definitely go back! The woman working there only added to the experience she seemed so genuine and kind.

Rice and beans and Yam Fufu & Egusi Sauce (smoked chicken).

A TRUE HIDDEN GEM!…read more If you haven't discovered African Dream Cuisine inside Lenexa Public Market yet, DO NOT miss this place! Seriously. This is one of those little gems that deserves WAY more attention. African Dream Cuisine offers traditional West African flavors and recipes inspired by generations of culinary tradition, and you can absolutely taste the love and care that goes into the food. (Lenexa Public Market) And let's talk about the people because the food isn't the only thing that makes this place special. The staff are some of the nicest, warmest people! From the moment we ordered, we felt welcomed and taken care of. That kind of genuine hospitality makes the whole experience even better. For my meal, I ordered the braised chicken with yam fufu and egusi sauce and WOW. The chicken was incredibly flavorful and so tender, the kind of meat that practically falls apart. The egusi sauce was rich, savory, and packed with flavor, and the yam fufu was the perfect pairing. My husband ordered the chicken with Banso-seasoned potatoes, and those potatoes were TO DIE FOR. Seriously, so much flavor! I may or may not have stolen more than a few bites. And whatever you do... DO NOT SKIP THE SWEET PLANTAINS! They were cooked to perfection, golden, caramelized, sweet, and absolutely delicious. They were the perfect way to finish the meal. Another HUGE plus for me: they have great gluten-free and dairy-free options, so it was really easy for me to find something delicious that worked for me. And guess what? They cater too! Do yourself a favor and go try it. Get the fufu and egusi, get the chicken, get the seasoned potatoes, and PLEASE get the sweet plantains... Don't miss this gem!

We sat there for 12 minutes with no service and decided to get up and knock on doors around the restaurant to find anyone on staff. Eventually a server came out and she was happy to help us. A man walked in after us and the same thing happened to him, and after 10 minutes he started to wonder and then found a bell to ring. Once we had ordered, our food was quick to come out and had good flavor. The server was very attentive and asked if I had eaten fufu before wanting to help me enjoy it if I hadn't. Overall the food was good. The service was fine once we got someone to come out from the back, but for restaurant week there was no savings. It was $20 whether I did the meal alone or chose the same meal on the restaurant week menu.

The fries were crunchy, well seasoned, and the beef samosas WERE SO GOOD AND CRUNCHY AS WELL! I like that you can pay via QR code on the receipt because it makes it so much more convenient; this was my first time trying african food and i would 100% recommend!

It is a great experience as I was wondering if I would like it and it turned out better than I expected. The server was very polite and asked us if we need help with the menu. He recommended the sampler combo which consists of different meats and veggies options. I am glad that we listened to him as one sampler combo was very filing for two men. It is kind of like Indian food so if you are not sure why to try, go with the sample combo. I also ordered the Ethiopian iced coffee which is like a light roast flavor iced coffee and easy to take in. I would recommend you to try out this restaurant if you want something different than bbq or pasta at the Kansas City Market!

But was met with a server telling my bf because he didn't place the order he can't make any changes or request additional help for it. As I was telling her my concerns she told me it's not her mistake and they cannot do anything about it! It's tucked away in a bit of an unexpected location, but that's exactly where you find the best hidden gems. The restaurant was busy, which is always a great sign, and the staff behind the counter were fantastic--super warm and genuinely caring. You could just tell the food was going to be incredible. I ordered the fried plantains and the Nigerian chicken stew, which is a killer combo of Jamaican jerk chicken topped with a traditional stew, served with their special rice and cabbage. The chicken had just the right amount of kick and those incredibly deep, slow-cooked flavors. Truly one badass bird, and the sides held their own, too. Of course, I couldn't run away without trying dessert. I brought home a piece of raspberry lemon butter cake and a piece of chocolate butter cake. Even out of a to-go box later on, they were phenomenal. This place is warm, inviting, and serves up serious comfort food. Highly recommend going out of your way to give them a try!

Entering this cove of Caribbean meets Nigerian, I was pressed by the woman behind the counter. According to her, I would only get plantains. In response I mustered my best antagonist energy to match. Sure enough the menu opened up before me! Remember kids, it's press or get pressed... While she offered the last oxtail, I couldn't muster yet another slab of meat in KC that day. Instead, it'd be a mackable Rasta Pasta for this white boy. After a serving of P's and Q's, my dish arrived in kind. Lucky enough to dine alone I employed my best ravenous dog impersonation, breathing all of three times in the next ten minutes. It was as if world peace actualized, even for just a moment, in that bliss of now. Four big WAHGWANS from me!
