I was hopeful. And then I saw the signs that said NOT SPICY. I got the smoked chicken. The chicken was really good. However, the potatoes and the other side dishes were bland. I was very disappointed. I had such high hopes make it spicy!!!!!! we can handle it. The chicken portions were very small also. Meat portion with three sides was $13 plus tip. Also is the cuisine Ethiopian? There were no descriptors.

We stopped in to the food court. I had African Dream bookmarked. The people there were super sweet and kind. I got the chicken bowl. It had a nice grilled plantain on top. The chicken was excellent and tender. It didn't have a ton of flavor. The rice and cabbage side dish was super. They shared a hot sauce and peanut sauce that were very nice. I enjoyed this meal a lot. What a treat to have something completely new to me.

Having never had African cuisine I didn't know what to expect. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly and explained what the dish contained. He offered us both dream sauce ( a red pepper sauce) and peanut sauce. The food was very filling. The chicken was stewed and I used both sauces to add flavor. The food court, Public Market was bright with plenty of seating. I liked the outdoor patio.

Wow, wow, wow!!! I can't rave enough about African Dream Cuisine. They are the sweetest people, so customer service is top-notch. The food, I died and went to Heaven for three days straight because that is how long I feasted on the smoked chicken plate. The sauces, the flavors, everything was so tantalizing. The chicken soup is also beyond my wildest dreams. Do yourself a favor and go now.

We decided to try out the African dream restaurant in the Lenexa marketplace since it had good reviews. Unfortunately, we were highly disappointed. I had their salmon with rice, a potato, and cabbage mix. My husband had their brisket skewers with the cabbage mix. He had a particular sauce that he does not remember what the name was and I had their peanut sauce. Upon walking up to the counter, I felt like the owner or the person taking our order was rushed, even though we were the only people ordering at the time. The salmon was overcooked with no good flavoring to it. The other foods were bland, and I was hoping the peanut sauce would help and it was extremely bland and oily. My husband said that the brisket skewers were tender, even though they were bland. He said that his sauce was completely bland with no flavor, and I tried it as well and could not detect any noticeable flavor. The cabbage was quite firm and somewhat difficult to chew. It was really just a disappointing lunch, especially for the price. The ambience is pretty much like the inside of a food court at the mall.

I really loved the food. Also the woman working explained everything to me and double checked that I got everything. She was wonderful and so was the food. I will def go back! GF/DF

Goat and oxtail, with fufu and egusi sauce

10/10!!! Food was good, service was awesome! I've tried the chicken, brisket, the goat, and also the oxtail. It comes with the fufu, and then I got egusi sauce and dream sauce on the side. Delicious!!

My first time eating here and trying Cameroonian food for the first time. This restaurant is located in Lenexa inside the public market. African Dream cuisine is BEYOND AMAZING! I can't say enough good things about it, I was in heaven - I ordered their fried rice, plantains, and smoked chicken with their sauce for lunch and everything came out to be about $12. Everything was cooked to perfection, the service was fabulous, and I can't wait to return. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

I need all of you to go to Lenexa public market and order from African Dream Cuisine to ensure they're making enough to stay in business bc I will cry if they ever close. Thanks, besties! All I'm asking for is 20/week. No biggie. No, but seriously!! If you haven't tried this place, you guys absolutely should! Aside from the flavors being SO ON POINT, the owner is just such a pleasant person. So kind and accommodating and made sure I knew what I was ordering and made suggestions based on what I told her I liked. That was so helpful because I'm definitely not an African cuisine expert. My suggested meal: chicken, lamb or goat with peanut butter sauce (extra sauce) and either rice or corn fufu. I got it with the corn fufu, which is basically a ball of formed cornmeal that you're supposed to soak and dip in the sauce. So good!

We sat there for 12 minutes with no service and decided to get up and knock on doors around the restaurant to find anyone on staff. Eventually a server came out and she was happy to help us. A man walked in after us and the same thing happened to him, and after 10 minutes he started to wonder and then found a bell to ring. Once we had ordered, our food was quick to come out and had good flavor. The server was very attentive and asked if I had eaten fufu before wanting to help me enjoy it if I hadn't. Overall the food was good. The service was fine once we got someone to come out from the back, but for restaurant week there was no savings. It was $20 whether I did the meal alone or chose the same meal on the restaurant week menu.

The fries were crunchy, well seasoned, and the beef samosas WERE SO GOOD AND CRUNCHY AS WELL! It's tucked away in a bit of an unexpected location, but that's exactly where you find the best hidden gems. The restaurant was busy, which is always a great sign, and the staff behind the counter were fantastic--super warm and genuinely caring. You could just tell the food was going to be incredible. I ordered the fried plantains and the Nigerian chicken stew, which is a killer combo of Jamaican jerk chicken topped with a traditional stew, served with their special rice and cabbage. The chicken had just the right amount of kick and those incredibly deep, slow-cooked flavors. Truly one badass bird, and the sides held their own, too. Of course, I couldn't run away without trying dessert. I brought home a piece of raspberry lemon butter cake and a piece of chocolate butter cake. Even out of a to-go box later on, they were phenomenal. This place is warm, inviting, and serves up serious comfort food. Highly recommend going out of your way to give them a try!

Entering this cove of Caribbean meets Nigerian, I was pressed by the woman behind the counter. According to her, I would only get plantains. In response I mustered my best antagonist energy to match. Sure enough the menu opened up before me! Remember kids, it's press or get pressed... While she offered the last oxtail, I couldn't muster yet another slab of meat in KC that day. Instead, it'd be a mackable Rasta Pasta for this white boy. After a serving of P's and Q's, my dish arrived in kind.
