    Chicken Bowl
    Dustin E.

We stopped in to the food court. I had African Dream bookmarked. The people there were super sweet and kind. I got the chicken bowl. It had a nice grilled plantain on top. The chicken was excellent and tender. It didn't have a ton of flavor. The rice and cabbage side dish was super. They shared a hot sauce and peanut sauce that were very nice. I enjoyed this meal a lot. What a treat to have something completely new to me.

Having never had African cuisine I didn't know what to expect. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly and explained what the dish contained. He offered us both dream sauce ( a red pepper sauce) and peanut sauce. The food was very filling. The chicken was stewed and I used both sauces to add flavor. The food court, Public Market was bright with plenty of seating. I liked the outdoor patio.

Wow, wow, wow!!! I can't rave enough about African Dream Cuisine. They are the sweetest people, so customer service is top-notch. The food, I died and went to Heaven for three days straight because that is how long I feasted on the smoked chicken plate. The sauces, the flavors, everything was so tantalizing. The chicken soup is also beyond my wildest dreams. Do yourself a favor and go now.

We decided to try out the African dream restaurant in the Lenexa marketplace since it had good reviews. Unfortunately, we were highly disappointed. I had their salmon with rice, a potato, and cabbage mix. My husband had their brisket skewers with the cabbage mix. He had a particular sauce that he does not remember what the name was and I had their peanut sauce. Upon walking up to the counter, I felt like the owner or the person taking our order was rushed, even though we were the only people ordering at the time. The salmon was overcooked with no good flavoring to it. The other foods were bland, and I was hoping the peanut sauce would help and it was extremely bland and oily. My husband said that the brisket skewers were tender, even though they were bland. He said that his sauce was completely bland with no flavor, and I tried it as well and could not detect any noticeable flavor. The cabbage was quite firm and somewhat difficult to chew. It was really just a disappointing lunch, especially for the price. The ambience is pretty much like the inside of a food court at the mall.

I really loved the food. Also the woman working explained everything to me and double checked that I got everything. She was wonderful and so was the food. I will def go back! GF/DF

Goat and oxtail, with fufu and egusi sauce

10/10!!! Food was good, service was awesome! I've tried the chicken, brisket, the goat, and also the oxtail. It comes with the fufu, and then I got egusi sauce and dream sauce on the side. Delicious!!

My first time eating here and trying Cameroonian food for the first time. This restaurant is located in Lenexa inside the public market. African Dream cuisine is BEYOND AMAZING! I can't say enough good things about it, I was in heaven - I ordered their fried rice, plantains, and smoked chicken with their sauce for lunch and everything came out to be about $12. Everything was cooked to perfection, the service was fabulous, and I can't wait to return. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

I need all of you to go to Lenexa public market and order from African Dream Cuisine to ensure they're making enough to stay in business bc I will cry if they ever close. Thanks, besties! All I'm asking for is 20/week. No biggie. No, but seriously!! If you haven't tried this place, you guys absolutely should! Aside from the flavors being SO ON POINT, the owner is just such a pleasant person. So kind and accommodating and made sure I knew what I was ordering and made suggestions based on what I told her I liked. That was so helpful because I'm definitely not an African cuisine expert. My suggested meal: chicken, lamb or goat with peanut butter sauce (extra sauce) and either rice or corn fufu. I got it with the corn fufu, which is basically a ball of formed cornmeal that you're supposed to soak and dip in the sauce. So good!

It's tucked away in a bit of an unexpected location, but that's exactly where you find the best hidden gems. The restaurant was busy, which is always a great sign, and the staff behind the counter were fantastic--super warm and genuinely caring. You could just tell the food was going to be incredible. I ordered the fried plantains and the Nigerian chicken stew, which is a killer combo of Jamaican jerk chicken topped with a traditional stew, served with their special rice and cabbage. The chicken had just the right amount of kick and those incredibly deep, slow-cooked flavors. Truly one badass bird, and the sides held their own, too. Of course, I couldn't run away without trying dessert. I brought home a piece of raspberry lemon butter cake and a piece of chocolate butter cake. Even out of a to-go box later on, they were phenomenal. This place is warm, inviting, and serves up serious comfort food. Highly recommend going out of your way to give them a try!

After being in for some time, you kind of get used to it but it's still there. The lady at the front who might've been the owner was very friendly and was making conversations and joking. She definitely made it more welcoming. I came about an hour before closing and they were already taking down the grill so there wasn't any plantain or Rasta pasta. There was however oxtail and that's what led me there. The oxtails were delicious and tender! It came with jollof rice and cabbage. The rice was decent, nothing too crazy that makes it stand out from the rest of the jollof rices and the cabbage was not my favorite but it did go great mixed with the rice and oxtail. I also enjoy the Jamaican sayings written all over the place. Reminds me of growing up with the elders and hearing their "wisdom". I'd come back, the food was good!

We were both not very familiar with African cuisine at allllllll so we asked our young waitress for some help. She said her favorite was the peanut butter soup, so my friend got that, and I got the spicy soup, both with Fufu because we wanted to try that. My soup (it was like a stew) was really good, spicy, flavorful, and the goat meat so sooo tender and delicious. I'm always leary of goat because sometimes it's gamey and this was not! The peanut butter soup had a wonderful savory flavor as well and was so good. The fufu is a side of dough looking thing, where you eat with your fingers and dip it in the soup, is my understanding. It just reminded me of a dumpling. This restaurant was really good, and it felt like a mom and pop type shop. I want to go back and try more menu items

I waited over a hour for my food and didn't have time to check it as I was pressed for time and had to get to work. You gone make somebody wait damn near 2 hours for their food at least let the food be correct! I had already asked for a refund to where the front desk girl says your food is coming out now! I should've known how fast she put my things in a bag to tie them up, my order was going to be off!!! If I would've opened it I would've got a refund!!! The egusi was nasty and tasted burnt and had me on the toilet after taking two bites!!! The jollof rice tasted like straight tomatoes, whoever was cooking didn't even try! When you walk inside there is hardly anybody standing in the front or they're always on their phone! This once use to be my favorite spot for African food but now it's time I find a new spot!
