After the day we had, this isn't were we planned to eat, but things work out the way they should…read moreright! Due to the weather our plans got detoured. I just wanted to come to RD's and pick up a few things, and get home, but I was so exhausted. I told my friend we might as well eat here. I saw this restaurant, and I saw the Jollof rice! Always wanted to try and make it! But saw it on this menu, and got excited. Limited options for Vegan/Vegetarians. So the Jollof rice cabbage and plantains, ok cool whatever, I just want to go home and get in my bed. I would say, place your order and shop in the store, and come back 30 min after you order. This Jollof rice babbbbb'ie This rice is the truth! I don't know if it's authentic but what ever they are making is so good! That cabbage! Ya" ll could have doubled that So much flavor! Now, I haven't found a Plantain that I would eat! These were good! I did like them, the only Plantains, I ever ate.....But I would do double the cabbage still over the Plantains! Customer service was amazing, and guess what! I will stop and get a plate every time I come to RD's

First time trying fufu and egusi and it was so good! I had no idea egusi was made from melon seeds,…read morebut somehow it tasted exactly like I thought it would. Super flavorful and savory without being too salty, and the goat and beef was pretty tender! The fufu was also really good. I was a little worried I wouldn't like the texture and that it would change as it cooled. But the texture reminded me a lot of fresh mochi, and it stayed just as sticky and stretchy as it cooled. I definitely want to come back and try all of their other dishes!

Tony's Piri-Piri Chicken is a food stand that adjoins in same parking lot as Pet and Feed Store…read morelocated on the west side of Jacksonville. They just opened for business last Saturday (10/5). They specialize is Piri-Piri and Teriyaki dishes. Tony Chong (owner) created his own version of the Piri-Piri sauce which is Chinese/Malaysian/South African inspired. The sauce is a light spice mixture that compliments well into any meat. They also serve Fragrant Rice, which had a sweet light coconut taste into the rice. So I ordered the Piri-Piri Chicken with the Fragrant Rice and it was pretty damn good combo. Additionally, Tony has collaborated with Eggroll Empire to serve Garlic Crab Eggrolls, an eggroll I've never had before; delicious. Aside from the Crab meat inside the Eggroll are Mung Bean Noodles, which reminds me of how some Vietnamese Eggrolls are made. It is served with your choice of a Spicy Sauce or Garlic & Vinegar Sauce. I've tried both sauces and it was basically a 1A and 1B choice in my opinion; me giving the Spicy Sauce a slight nod. Something noteworthy: Tony has plans of introducing Peking Duck dish into the menu lineup. I'm looking forward to this as I love Peking Duck. Nom Nom Nom Come show your love for this new business.

I've been waiting to try this place. Had it bookmarked for the longest. Anyways, I was driving down…read more103rd and saw a food shack with a big sign that stated they had Garlic Egg rolls by the liquor store and thought maybe they moved, so I dropped in. The sign was exact to what's posted for this location. When I walk up the menu had wings, hot dogs, burger and fries and I was a little lost because I thought it was Asian food. I asked if they served up the egg rolls and the lady said yea, $3 a piece. I placed my order but after waiting 25 minutes and food still wasn't ready, I bounced. This is more of a for your information. Yesterday, I was going to be in the area so I called the number on the Yelp app. The poor girl picked up and I asked if they were open until 8 and she said this isn't something chicken. Not sure how long this number has been posted and she probably had no idea how to remove it. I already reported it to Yelp. I made the drive anyways and when I got there this truck was not there. It showed that it's claimed so hopefully the owner sees this review and can address if they moved.

Second time experiencing Ethiopian food; first time at Lalibela. I believe the man who waited on us…read morewas the owner. He was sweet. They didn't have fish (ground tilapia mixed with herbs & onions), which I had been excited to try. Bummer. So I ordered the chicken & my MIL the vegetarian. What came out was one large platter to share, with the chicken in the center. My MIL, who has been there before, said it was about the same serving as when she orders the veggie platter by herself. Hmm, didn't love that. I also think the prices are high for the area & amount of food served. The food was tasty. I loved the spicy samosa app. It had a great kick. I wish the chicken in the Doro Wat was cut smaller. Large pieces are difficult to eat without a fork & a knife! And personally, I prefer dark meat over breast for chicken dishes. Lastly, the prices on the menu aren't what rang up on the register when I went to pay. Everything, including the drinks, was $1.50-2.50 more than listed. Not a huge deal, but the correct price should be displayed on the menu. All in all, it's a unique experience to eat with your fingers but, at roughly $70 for two people (one soda & one beer), I wouldn't make this a regular spot.
