I settled on Fish and Chips (actually cottage fries) that came with wee ramekins of tartar sauce and tangy, sweet coleslaw, and a slice of lemon. Instead of citrus, I chose to liberally sprinkle malt vinegar on my battered cod and potatoes. Yum! The best fish and chips I ever enjoyed was at a diner near the California coast, but Mulligan's is pretty darn close. Although the pub has a hearty beer and cocktail selection, I ordered a soft drink which cost only $2.00 and came with a refill. Now that's a bargain! Since only a few other tables were occupied, the spouse and I got first-class service from a witty Irishman (I think) named Ciaran. (sp?) Later that evening, the pub was hosting live entertainment, and on some nights there's karaoke and other events. If I ever find myself in Johnson City again, I'll be sure to swing by.
