We both ordered the tacos since it was Taco Tuesday. I am a taco lover and I can be a bit critical of them. I ordered the fish tacos and didn't really expect to be blown away. I was very wrong! The fish was breaded but not over-breaded, the cabbage slaw was perfect and they put it on a flour tortilla which was not too thick and made for the perfect chew. I am so glad we stumbled upon this place! The service was awesome and we got in and out fast. I will say you get a lot of food for the price, both my husband and I had to do a double take at the bill, we were expecting a much higher amount. In town with K for a Saturday overnight and of course she 'must' be able find a place to watcher her beloved Green Bay Packers. This is the perfect spot for a game watch if you wear the Green & Gold. We got there an hour before kick-off and it was already starting to fill. We had a great time and great service from Brian. They have been awarded the #1 Wing place multiple times. They do the 'whole wing' which is the flat & drumette all connected together. They are fried and covered in garlic and/or hot sauce in mild or hot. This brewpub was a really cool option, while visiting Asheville. Did a self-guided walking brewery hop and this was the last stop on the tour. It was a pleasant surprise! Although it's a pub, the food was pretty good, as was the atmosphere. Had wings, which were really flavorful and the beer was ice cold! The atmosphere was really fun! We landed at Asheville pretty late around 10pm on Thursday evening. Since we hadn't had our dinner we were looking for restaurants that open late on a weekday. This is one of the few bars that serve dinner after 10pm in downtown Asheville. I ordered my favorite Belgium Witt along with an order of Chicken Gyro and Chicken Caesar salad. For sides I ordered their special sweet potato curly fries. Chicken gyro was every delicious. Tomatoes, peppers, caramalized onions and juicy chicken perfectly blended in with nice soft pita bread. Very delicious. Service was great! Server recommended us a famous restaurant called curate for lunch or dinner but we could not get a reservation during this trip. Pricing is nominal. Arrived In Asheville late at night and was looking for a place to eat. Was told the only place open until about 2am that served found near was Foggy Mountain. We ordered the steak sandwich and the chicken panini and a coffee milk stout. All were very good but the steak sandwich was outstanding and the fries were seasoned perfectly. I stopped by here this past Tuesday with my wife for lunch. We were in Asheville for the day and looking for a place to eat whenever we found that the Foggy Mountain Brewpub was open at noon. Since it was a little before noon, we spent some time walking around the city and arrived a little early. We watched a guy head into the restaurant only to be sent back out because he was a few minutes early. Once noon hit we headed into the restaurant and immediately out the back door to sit in their patio area. Since we weren't in the restaurant proper itself, I didn't really notice much about it other than their was a bar and some seating. The outside I got to see a lot better and it consisted of four tables, three 6-tops and a 2-top. It had string lights hanging up and most of the seats except for the 2-top were shaded from the sun either by trees or by umbrellas. For lunch on this day I decided to start off with a beer. Their menu was on a chalkboard and had a nice selection of local breweries, all for $5 or $6. Then for lunch they had you scan a QR code for the menu which I appreciated. A lot of things on their menu looked good but I ultimately went with the indulgent jalepeno Mac brat while my wife went with the falafel gyro. The menu described my meal as a Butterflied Brat Topped With Mac and Cheese and Fresh Chopped Jalapeños and my wife's as a Choice of Chicken, Eggplant or Falafel Served With Fries on a Warm Pita With Caramelized Onions, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Feta Cheese and House Tzatziki. We waited about 20 minutes for our food to come out and when it did, it looked good. I don't think I have ever seen Mac and cheese on top of a brat but it somehow worked perfectly as the sauce. The brat itself was flavorful and the jalepenos added some spice to it. On the side were some homemade chips and beer cheese, both of which were also quite tasty. My wife also really enjoyed her falafel gyro. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. This is a great place that's situated on Church Street in downtown Asheville. Since Covid hit they have tables in the front of their place on the street that take up a couple of parking places and one now on the sidewalk. There is also the patio in the back. It's nice back there, tables are spread out and it feels cozy but I prefer the tables in the front as usually the folks on the patio smoke. Our favorite go to menu item is the fried pickles. Wow are these tasty! Just make sure they cool down a bit before biting into them as they will be an immediate blister to the roof of your mouth. After a long, hellish travel day, I finally was able to arrive in Asheville, get settled, and make my way to the first stop of the vacation: Foggy Mountain BrewPub. The establishment is located off the main drag of Downtown Asheville on Church St, which gives them a chill, neighborhood vibe -- especially, with their back outdoor patio, which is perfect for hanging out on a summer/fall night. While the back patio is awesome to hang out with friends, the interior radiates cool with its brick walls hung with local artists painting, and the bar area is great to grab a seat, order a beer, and enjoy some food. And the latter they do incredibly well, as I ordered their Jalapeño Mac Brat that was absolutely phenomenal -- decadent, but fucking phenomenal. They butterfly a delicious brat, place in a bun, and cover with creamy, Wisconsin-style mac & cheese that has chopped jalapeños. Holy fuck on a stick, I was in foodie heaven. The wings were also killer, tossed in their 3 pepper hot sauce and roasted garlic -- savory, succulent, satisfying. They didn't even need blue cheese dip. They were THAT good. The vibes were really amazing that evening, with a great, little band playing by the front of the establishment, as I knocked back beers like the Pigsah Porter by Black Mountain, which was quite yummy. Once we were seated everything came out pretty quick. FOOD: I ordered the chicken banh mi wrap which was alright but the sauce was a bit spicy and the chicken had an interesting seasoning. The sweet potato fries were amazing with the mustard sauce yum. Another of us got the Mac and cheese with chicken which wasn't too heavy of a Mac and cheese it was good. Huge portions all around but the 1/2 lb. burger was massive. The fries that came with it had some seasoning on it that was amazing!! We also tried the fried pickles which were pretty good. If you are looking for that neighborhood bar you can call your go to spot then look no further than Foggy Mountain. My husband works in Asheville a lot and after a few trips to this pub he felt like he was part of the friends and family of the pub. Upon my first visit I understood his feelings. The staff is wonderful and all seem to genuinely be happy working at Foggy Mountain they work together with so well from what I observed. The layout is nice as tables are at the front and sides and the bar is in the center before you hit the gender neutral bathrooms and hallway leading to a cozy and inviting patio. The pub is decorated with local artist designs which in my opinion says the owners are invested in their community as well. They are designated as an official Packers bar, but this Falcons fan won't hold it against them. The TVs are visible and you don't have to struggle to see them and the employees will gladly turn your game on if you ask. The drinks are always great. They have local brews on tap as well as familiar brands from all over. Hi-wire, Sierra Nevada, Highlad Brew, New Belgium, Wicked Weed too. Miller high life seems to be a bottled favorite as well as the $2 cans of Tecate. Brittany made my husband a bourbon mule from scratch no lame ass mix here and it was phenomenal. My vodka red bull may be simple but it's always on point. Savannah is the sweetest gal and usually guesses what I want. Ryan is great for a little sing along to the diverse tunes pumping through the pub. They have live music several nights and the bands are always of different varieties and genres. Rachel is happy to make something new for you or help you choose food. She is a pro and so nice too. Now let's talk food. The food here elevates bar food to the next level. The chicken panini is premade and dry on no it features fresh grilled and perfectly seasoned chicken with goat cheese, apple bacon, and some greens. It is crisp and juicy. The best panini I've ever tasted. The fried pickles are so good you won't be able to wait for them to cool down. I may have burned the roof of my mouth but we aren't talking about me lol. The mac and cheese is creamy with a white sauce and a hint of cayenne to provide the kick to the cheesy goodness. The wings come out hot and spicy and are so good too. Don't just visit for the drinks, make sure you eat as well. The crowd here is diverse and it gets packed about 9 or so every night. This place will surpass your expectations and I think you'll love it and the staff as much as we do. read more
