The books were in great shape and cheaper than other used bookstores I'd visited recently. It's like buying brand new books, but for literally half the price. The cashier said she found a copy at the St Paul store but "it's at the buy back counter and it hasn't been shelved yet so I can't request it". I darted out of the store, making haste to SP before it hit the shelf and was bought!! I walked in, where the buy back counter is right inside the door. I excitedly told the fellow of my prior conversation. I was met with "She shouldn't have sent you over, there is a lot of places that it could be!" I didn't tell him "she wasn't stopping me". Feeling a bit defeated I had a seat while he looked for the dvd.... as I began to worry if I would have to change my noon oil change appointment? There he stood in front of me, holding out the dvd for me to take, as he said "here it is". I let him know "you are my hero!". Proceeded to the checkout where I told that cashier "he is my hero". She politely said "I hope you enjoy the movie!" So 10 minutes, $2.16 and two lovely employees later I was out the door. Thank you Half Price Books St Paul!! Day? Made!

When you walk in it's jammed back with books, which is amazing to see. We only had time to browse the main room but I seen signs mentioning that there was more on the other floors. They also had a large area devoted to comics in the front of the store. If you seek used or rare books, this is the top choice to come in the area. The door is locked and you need staff to let you inside the store. There is a shared parking lot behind the store, which was very much appreciated.

The space is huge and includes three floors. I spent some time browsing and got carried away with the available options. Once I found a set of dishes I liked, I pulled the store owner and asked if they could separate sets. He gave me a few options 1.) Buy the set 2.) Browse upstairs and downstairs for individual dish items to create my own set 3.) They would lease the entire set to me at full price and allow me to pay 20% so long as I return it within two weeks. This is a game changer! Having access to an entire antique mall to source items and lease them at a fraction of the cost is INSANE. This is definitely a spot I will return to for their great selection, stellar customer service, and flexibility for photographers. They even asked that I share the photos with them. I ended up creating my own little breakfast set and it was such a great experience.

Compared to other locations, I think it is bigger and has a wide variety to choose from. Originally, I was looking to hopefully snag a cookbook, but didn't plan on finding myself a planner as well. You will find a variety of potential gifts for others or even yourself - ranging from bookmarks, planners, calendars to board games or books. Maybe this is what 40s is looking like to me, but HPB is severely underrated.
