So, today it is possible for me to update this review for Dr. Hubert Mei. I had an appointment today. My right upper arm and shoulder have been bothering me along with my low back. Dr. Hubert's storefront office adjoins Harmony Natural Health (469 W. 31st St.) . His parents operate Harmony. His mom, Dr. Mei Ling is a acupuncturist and naprapath. See his dad about the various herbs and remedies at the front of the Harmony storefront. I mention Harmony, because on the days that Harmony is open, you enter that storefront to access Dr. Hubert's office. When Harmony is closed - - usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays - - you enter thru Dr. Hubert's storefront door. Today, I happened to enter thru the Harmony side and I signed in at the little stand that is to the left as you enter. The entrance to Dr. Hubert's is just a bit past the sign-in stand - -again to your left. Well, my last review still stands--this office is still 5 Stars! I was pleasantly greeted by Phyllis, who showed me to one of the rooms. Dr. Hubert came in and after assessing my situation, turned the appropriate spots on my body into a pin cushion with the acupuncture needles. About 20 minutes later, Phyllis removed the needles, attached the pads of the machine that stimulates the muscles and put some heat pads on my shoulders and back. 15 minutes later, I was ready for Dr. Hubert to put his great chiropractic skills to work. And shortly after that, I was on my merry way and feeling much better! Although it is no fun being in pain, I actually enjoy coming here. Dr. Hubert is not only a skilled acupuncturist and chiropractor but also just a really great guy. If you decide to come here, don't waste any time being anxious about meeting with a new doctor. Believe me, you will feel very comfortable with Dr. Hubert Mei. Although they were not here today, his other assistants Amelia and Vicki are also very nice and helpful. As I mentioned in my first review, you can also make an appointment with Phyllis on certain days. She is a massage therapists and has healing skills of her own to offer. As this was the first time we were meeting Dr Dan, I didn't know what to expect but reassured myself that if I didn't feel comfortable, I would not have her adjusted on the day of the appointment. Any worries were so unnecessary as he was exactly what we needed at the time. Having a practitioner that is so in tune, so caring and genuine was a contrast to what I had experienced throughout the pregnancy. I felt so comfortable with Dr Dan as did my daughter. The expression on her face once he was done adjusting her said it all, totally relaxed, cooing and smiling. Now myself, my older son and husband are all under Dr Dan's care. The biggest revelation from seeing Dr Dan- feeling pretty bleh had become my baseline, I had no idea what feeling really good was like. You meet with the doctor every week for an adjustment, the nutritionist once a week, workout with a trainer twice a week, and see their massage therapist once a month. After insurance it was a manageable price. I didn't commit myself to eating healthy so I didn't loose a lot of weight (just 14) but I consider my progress a huge success. Just last week I helped my husband move a large couch down a flight of stairs, spent three hours raking underbrush from our bushes, carried three cubic yards of soil from my driveway where it was delivered into my raised beds, then went on vacation were I was sitting in a car for 13 hours in one day. Upon examining my skin, it was determined I have allergies to certain food I eat. My work-related stress level was also a main contributor to the severity of my problems. With no other alternatives, I decided to try acupuncture and drink Chinese herbal tea for the first time. I took the opportunity of my weekly acupuncture sessions to relax and clear my mind. Drinking the herbal tea daily, on the other hand, was not a pleasant experience even though it helped my issues tremendously. By adding honey as Dr. Li suggested made it bearable. In addition to giving up seafood and spicy foods, I also started using baby shampoo/lotion since most adult beauty products contain harmful chemicals. Five months after my treatment, I am happy to say the symptoms have cleared and I am better at managing my stress level. Dr. Li has an amicable bedside manner. I love the fact that he is patient and willing to listen. Never once did I feel rushed. After the treatments I received, I understand why people from out of state to seek his help. I referred two of my friends to Dr. Li. They are still under his care. I must mention Dr. Li does not working with any insurance company since none will accept his claims.
