A bit pricey for singular ( not alot left for a tip)but worth it as a group. 5. Drinks collection, great! 6. Waitstaff. Super friendly and knowledgeable. 7. Decor.. SUPER AMAZING! 8. Spacious. I was told there's an arcade. (But I didn't see it). I was welcomed immediately upon entering, and the young man had on the coolest shirt. I had a few laughs, it made a Klondike reference, he wore the shirt but had no clue, you had to experience it to get the pun. ( they sell them). I chose to sit at the bar. Then there I met the barmaid..... who was so bubbly and pretty and no I didn't say that because her shirt said that.(LOL) She showed me the special of the day both food and drink. I tried the spicy tequila shot made by the house with jalapeños...meh.. it wasn't hot enough for me but it was still ok. BUT the vegan taco that I had was soooo good. Who knew theres VEGAN TACOS! YES PKEASE!!! There was cauliflower instead of chicken inside but you could not tell the difference. IT was amazing. I had my friend take a bite and I got a 2 thumbs up(lol. This was a halfway point for a friend and I to meet. First of all the city of Troy is so adorable and has a lot of unique shops I will definitely be back to explore more. Now for the tacos. Every taco here is very unique! The menu was a little overwhelming, but our server was fantastic in explaining everything. I think my favorite was the guacamole. Definitely want to return and hopefully visit one of their other locations closer to me. read more

Stopped in for lunch today. Fun and funky interior. They are running a flight of three tacos deal. I made my selection they were "smaller" than the regular but so much food piled high and very tasty. Great service wish I was not working they had cocktail specials as well. Maybe next time. Great location right on the roundabout need to come back on a warmer day. read more

Four of us rushed in and asked if they could accommodate us because we only had 40 minutes. Not only did the manager and waiter assure us they could, our food came out quickly and was great! Our waiter was fantastic and the manager came over to our table to thank us for coming in- a nice personal touch. Additionally, since we told them we were presenting in school educational music concerts, they gave us a thank you note and a contact at the Troy Haner Center to hopefully schedule a concert. This was a first class experience all the way- I can't say enough good things about the manager and staff here. Highly recommended! read more

My family lives in Troy and Agave is a must stop when we visit. We absolutely love the food here. The tacos are unique and different, and very filling. The building is so cool, we love the vibe and how it is decorated with the graffiti style. Knocked down a star because this visit the service was not good. Our waitress seemed very overwhelmed by a party behind us, but we waited 45 mins for most of the drinks for our party. She didn't even bring water. She explained that there was a problem with their system, and the manager later explained the waitress had entered 88 people instead of 8 and the system being upgraded caused a delay of 10 mins. I am unclear why she didn't bring water or why the bar didn't just make the drinks and they could have been entered later. Regardless the manger was kind and gave us free chips with salsa, guac, and queso. read more

The tacos aren't tacos in the traditional sense. They have lots of different ingredients and I haven't found one that I didn't like. I mean, you can get macaroni in a taco, you can get kangaroo meat in a taco. I have not tried that though by the way, but what I did get was very tasty and the margaritas are good. They're fresh made. They're drinks are a little expensive but nothing unusual for a flashy place like this, aaaand you get free dessert on your birthday and their dessert was pretty killer and all of the service staff that I have come in contact with are absolutely amazing. Here I am... again! Honestly, I really like this place. It seems whenever the weather is nice and I can take the Harley out, I seem to want to come here and have my favorite dish...the crispy Brussels sprouts. I honestly cannot get enough of them. And yeah, I also get a plain Jane taco. Though don't let that name fool you, it's anything but plain. Since it's just me on my bike, I tend to sit at the bar and enjoy the food while I keep an eye on the bike and watch the world go by. This is also the second time I have been served by Tiff. She's always done a great job taking care of me and being friendly. And she remembered me from my last time I visited a month ago! Impressive! This is a wonderful place and I have never had a bad experience here. Thank you all for having me and making each time I've been here fun and enjoyable. Well okayyyy Agave & Rye - here for it! I am in town on a work trip and convinced some co-workers to join me as another co-worker spoke highly. We were certainly not disappointed. We started with chips & queso, which checked the boxes. Then realized we were in the midst of happy hour, which meant discounted (and tasty!) margs as well as their epic tacos. Let me tell you, epic is an apt adjective! These puppies were massive, creative, and divine. I opted for The Becky . She was perfect, despite the slight debacle on figuring out the best way to consume it. Really loved the decor, too - funky and gorgeous and full of personality. The main reason we came here was for the Szechuan buttons. I was under the impression there was an option of it with a shot, but our waitress was unawares and only knew of their cocktail. That said, she was helpful and we ended up getting the buttons plus a shot of their house tequila to experiment with how it changed out pallette -- pretty rad little piece of nature! If I could make one recommendation, it would be to incorporate something like that on the menu as I reckon there would be plenty of demand. read more

Garrett too great care of us. We were here to hit a concert at the Hobart Arena. And Agave and Rye was a perfect choice! The food is great and the service is always top shelf. We had a couple of the February special cocktails. I love the creative things they go here so much! Teresa had the New Fashion and I had the jalapeno raspberry margarita! Yeah it was the perfect compliment to my grilled brunch burrito. She had the chopped salad which turned out great and Jacks had a couple of signature tacos he's not had before. I realllly wanted to love this place and give 5 stars. I'll start with the pros. I love the atmosphere and concept of the giant Al a carte tacos. Super cute and fun inside. They even have an arcade room that's free. I also loved the drink I had, some tequila special drink with jalapeno and strawberry boba bubbles in it, very good. We also enjoyed the appetizer, wings were good but the corn and cheese dip needed more cheese, more of a corn dip. For the cons, unfortunately the tacos were not great, the main meal. Was so looking forward to it with the interesting combinations they have. I ordered the lobster truffle Mac n cheese taco. Sounds amazing, all my fav things! It was a dry Mac n cheese taco with the tiniest bit of lobster meat just on top in the middle. The Mac n cheese was dry as I said and it was just disappointing. My husband also did not care for his taco, he had the kangaroo taco, which again was just a Mac n cheese taco (fried into balls) that took up the whole taco shell with a tiny bit of meat and toppings. So we both felt it was very dry and lacked meat. Definitely would come here again if in the area and order something different to see if maybe it's redeemable. Walking to up to the restaurant you see this beautiful painted wall with a bumblebee, walking inside it's a colorful eclectic mix of colors, wall murals and seating. The menu has a variety of interesting and different tacos along with appetizers and some non taco options. There are some unusual drink combinations, a little pricey but delicious. I gave a three star rating because the tacos had good flavor, but came out Luke warm and the meat was a little tough. That being said if they worked on fixing that they would have been outstanding!! We will return, and try it again for sure. read more

More of a novelty than an eclectic taco experience which was a little disappointing . Ordered a luxe taco flight and regretted it when I realized the mac and cheese they stuff the luxe tacos with was kind of gross. The appetizers were good (large party so tried all of them), my margarita was ok. Service was good. Best part was when meal was over and we went to the free arcade in the back. If you have tweens/teens definitely head back there and start playing! read more

I've visited A&R Troy twice in the last week. Once for a personal family visit and once for a work lunch. Let's talk tacos. I'm a fan of Swipe Right and Bees Knees. Yoda, perhaps off the menu out of rotation, is okay but can truly be dry. How do you make a taco dry? Flavor is still unique and tasty. Let's talk family dining. I've got a single child - a 1st grader who loves the chips, but can we not have a basic kids menu? He is well behaved, isn't on a screen, and is polite when ordering himself. Every server will tell you they can do basic cheese quesadilla or also chicken fingers. Let me tell you - the chicken fingers are (or were the last time we decided to get them) dark meat. Who wants a dark meat chicken finger? Answer: no one. Gross. Really, I tried them and I'm not picky, but these were awful. To boot- asked our server (and I make it a point to ask every time we visit just to see what they say) about kids options. I get the same answer... "Uhhh like we aren't like really a kids place. Sorry." In my opinion, at 1:00pm on a Sunday, you need to be an everyone place. I have been a big fan, but when it comes to family time, any irritation with a kids menu question and our ordering of water or iced tea, it is enough to make us consider other choices in the future. I get we don't go at 10pm for tequila shots, but you are operating as a restaurant for the community and should deliver consistency at all times. Let's fix this Agave and Rye. Bring back some family vibes during the day. read more

The restaurant added a 3% Merchant fee to our bill. I do not recall seeing a notice on the menu stating that such a fee would be added. The restaurant's prices are high enough for merely serving tacos. My family only ate at Agave & Rye tonight because they did not have a wait for seating. Two other restaurants that we contacted in downtown Troy had 20-30 minute waits for seating at that same time (5:00pm. Now I know why Agave & Rye (the once hot spot to go to in downtown Troy) had immediate seating. Lesson learned!!!! read more

Wonderful thoughtful vegan options! I had the jackfruit street tacos. The portion was worth the price ($18). My only feedback is salt was lacking. Salt is a flavor enhancer and would have made this a 5 star dish. The bartender was really nice and personable. I failed to ask his name but I would come back just because of his hospitality. Stopped in for dinner during the strawberry festival this past weekend. It was packed but we were still seated in about 15-20 minutes and service was great. I got the bomb taco as well as the strawberry special drink. I really liked the taco, very different take but still delicious. I would definitely get this taco again. The special strawberry drink was okay - kind of like a spiked Starbucks pink drink. I wasn't the hugest fan and probably would have gotten something different if I tried it first. Agave & Rye is a little pricey but as far as the food goes you get quite a bit. I will probably be back again to try some other tacos. read more

My taco had two tortillas, about 10 French Fries, a miniature piece of mahi-mahi and about a teaspoon of dressings. Very tasty but about $2 a bite. This is a fancy taco place where you take visitors to drop some cash and have a fun experience. The lamps and artwork are shot-thru with some style that like a combination of glitz and glamour, warehouse graffiti chic, Warhol and pop art. There's an arcade you can use for free, with many classic games. The servers' t-shirts encourage you to have some tequila or beer - that's a bit of a turnoff for me, as it makes it sound like they're trying to get you drunk to overspend and not notice the taste of the food. Well, some of the food items are great but others are not. What I'd recommend is you each get 2 of the "epic" tacos for dinner, and maybe some apps to share. You have to forget about your cholesterol for the night, and embrace the brisket or birria or whatever juicy meat you choose topped with crema, slaw, drizzled queso and some fried tobacco onions. Or if you're not a meat-eater, go for the cauliflower or brussels sprouts, those were good too. The jackfruit tacos were a big of a letdown. Not much going on there - a dense BBQ sauce and too much melted vegan cheese. And for some reason, the rice was blah and clumpy. Basically: just stick to those featured epic tacos and you'll have a good time. read more

So it's been a few years since they opened, and this place is still chugging along like a reliable freight train. The food is inconsistent, and upon my last visit the interior smelled very bad. It smells like super strong urine odor. I have noticed this odor in several restaurants, and now am wondering if it's an ammonia based cleaner or something. It is very off-putting & very strong. Last visit, due to the malicious odor we sat outside on the patio. Very nice to have that option, the seats are very comfortable and the shade is nice, and the view isn't bad, as it looks out onto the square and Prouty plaza. Service was top notch! Food was edible, but overly salted. Still have found nothing exceptional to eat here, and they have removed my two favorite menu items - sticky rice and baked beans. Oh well. There are still things that I want to try on the menu so I'll go back on days when it's nice enough to dine outdoors. The margaritas & other drinks are all VERY good. I've yet to have any drink here that is less than exceptional. Still dislike the music, but at least you can hear a conversation now without yelling "WHAT?!" at your tablemates. read more
