I am currently a resident living at Agave; I moved here in Fall of 2024. Until recently, this review would have been 4 or 5 stars, since I have had an overall positive experience living here. Tony and the office staff are wonderfully kind and helpful; maintenance staff are quick and responsive. The property is nice, in an ideal location near downtown and southtown. The main problems lie with management and the owners of the property. They recently implemented huge changes to the parking structure and parking policies on site, without informing residents or giving any notice. This included sharing our vehicle information and contact information with a third-party company, without our consent or agreement. With the new parking set up, we are no longer guaranteed to have a parking spot where we live; our guests will have to pay for parking at times, and the public will be given access to our parking garage. When many of us became residents and signed leases, these were NOT conditions we agreed to. In fact, for many of us, the private parking garage was a huge selling point for the property. The security/safety of the apartment complex has already been an area of concern for residents - these changes have caused this concern to increase exponentially. There had been a number of vehicle break-ins before; it's dismal to think of how this number may increase in the near future. It's extremely unfortunate that the owners of Agave value the monetization of the parking garage, far more than they value the safety and care of residents. These apartments are not a cheap place to live; it's so ridiculous that you are not guaranteed at least a parking spot at home, and we now have to worry even more about our safety. read more

Terrible customer service. I called and left voicemails and no one returned my calls. I showed up and it was drizzling. I knocked on the door because it was locked and they ignored me, even though the employee saw me. After a few minutes, I knocked again because it started to rain a liter harder, and the gentleman came to the door and said that he locked up because he was going on a tour. That is completely understandable, but he could have politely told me that the first time that I knocked. Instead, he completely ignored me the first time that I knocked and let me stand outside in the rain. He was 20ft away at his desk watching me stand in the rain with no cover. If this is how they treat prospective tenants... anyone should think twice before coming here. read more

The elevator is broken AGAIN- there are only 2 in the entire complex. WHY should I find this instead of being informed about it from Mgmt - oh yeah, Mgmt mostly sucks. For over 5 weeks a locked entry door to the building has been propped open by management! There's been no communication to my my service ticket (for 2 weeks) nor communication to residents, save for the sign posted on the perpetually proppopen supposed to be locked door! Too big! Hallways are super long. Exists are few. There's homeless right outside the place. My unit was on 1st floor on Cesar Chavez, so it's always super noisy day and night!! They did not invest in nice noise canceling windows, nope they are super cheap and thin. Only thing nice about this place is the sitting areas and access to river. Even the pool is a joke because it's all closed in! There's no sun to come into the super small narrow , mega tall buildings all around they cut the sun out. Been on a mission for six weeks to find a new home. Agave fit the specs I am looking for in an apartment. It has a wonderful modern update .. hard wood floors, tile back splashes, large frig, modern lights, built in book cases and amazing closet built ins. Gym looked well supplied. However ultimately the location is not close enough to the downtown action to walk easily. The amenities were just.. The hallways are open to the parking lot and stark. The price was high compared to other local units. The office never followed up with info I asked on the first walk. So I passed this time. read more

I been living here since February 2022, and renewed my lease for another year. Wish I hadn't, wish I could terminate earlier without penalty or fee. As much as the front staff is nice, they don't care after you sign. The big elevator hasn't been in commission since July 2022 (they're telling people two weeks), the dog park constantly stinks, and is always out of dog bags. Parking is a nightmare if you don't pay $100 for a monthly parking spot, can't ever get a spot on your floor unless you're home before 3PM. No way to let Food delivery people in, you have to meet them downstairs at the front, the hallways and stairwells are ALWAYS a mess. Maintenance is great though, fast and friendly. The pool is great except for the summer time when you're at a day care, basically. This is one of the most expensive places, sounds cheap when you sign up but expect a huge increase at renewal time. The monthly events is nice, and great walking distance. Drunk neighbors do mess with door mats, and etc things you have infront of the door. Not enough trash cans on the premises, oh and the security they have in the summer can be kind of rude, just because you dont have your bracelet. Oh! LOTS of the apartments are subleased to a group called Sonder's, so LOTS of guests and visitors and families who visit who don't take care of the property or care for the residences. Lot of car break ins, lack of no onsite security, they only come by if called or to make sure you're not in the pool after 10pm. So far we love AGAVE!!! Jessica and David are so kind and helpful and alway a joy to see at the lobby. We love our unit and all amenities and so happy to be a part of the AGAVE community. Location is also AMAZING! I didn't give 5 stars only bc there are a few cleanliness issues I have suggested below. I am not a pet owner but I love animals...however, I think it should be the same expectation held for pets as is for humans...hair wads everywhere just because it's natural for a pet to shed... (please, pet owners take care of your property) *Some suggestions: keep common areas, elevators, trash chutes, and residential hallways cleaner. There is so much pet hair all around the property - would be nice if floors were vacuumed or swept daily. Trash chute rooms are full of trash and since the sign is on the door, residents should be held accountable somehow (as it says on the sign) read more

Stayed here at an Airbnb. Beds were uncomfortable, 'sofa bed' wasn't even a sofa bed it was a footon which was stiff as well!! The electricity was a problem... we were 6 and some outlets didn't work which was annoying tbh. Overall alright not that comfortable spot. read more

We have lived here for about 6 months and we absolutely love the location and facility. Location couldn't get any better. We love being close enough to walk to Southtown and Riverwalk areas for clubs, restaurants, and stores. It is great having the Southtown area and local neighborhoods (King William etc) to be able to ride our bikes through along with the Riverwalk area There is a pool and a gym; which we really enjoy the convenience. Given we are new to the area, we really enjoy the monthly resident get togethers as well. It's a great way to meet our neighbors. read more

Moving in has been the best decision we've made! First the staff. Everyone is so friendly and willing to help at a moments notice. There has not been a thing we haven't asked for that they weren't willing to assist with. Location, location, location. The complex is walking distance from Downtown, the King Williams district, and Hemisphere Park. The Via Transit stops in front of the apartments and you can move to different points in the city. Not to mention, it is located right next to the Riverwalk. You can walk from the apartments to Blue Star easily. Another thing we appreciate is the security and parking. Free covered parking downtown is practically unheard of but not here. In order to enter the parking lot or any of the buildings, a key fob is required which is only assigned to the residents. The complex is still under construction, besides the cars in the day, you hardly notice it. I can go on and on but instead recommend you to check it out. read more

When moving to San Antonio I didn't know where to live, but I'm glad I chose Agave. Its in a great location close to everything, and right on the river walk. I lived in two different apartments on the top floor and really loved both apartments. The only thing I didn't like was that my first apartment faced a hotel pool with very loud screaming kids, but the second apartment faced the river walk and it was so much better. Other tenants in the community were polite and friendly. The maintenance team were also really responsive, friendly, and helpful. I also loved that my apartments were free of pests! I only noticed an occasional spider. This was a huge plus considering some of my past rentals in Austin that came with roaches and other pest issues. read more

Don't let the amenities fool you. This apartment complex appears to be top notch at first glance. Within the past 6 months cars have been broken into (while parked inside the parking garage), packages have been stolen, and bikes have been stolen as well. Management will do everything they can to save their reputation, and absolutely nothing to help you personally. This apartment complex attracts people that like to drink and be obnoxiously loud with no concern for their neighbors.. If you're someone who enjoys reading a nice book by the pool, don't expect that to happen while living here. On my weekend off, I wanted to lay out by the pool, relax, and read. But a group of 20-30 people were at the pool from noon-9 Pm. The party only stopped because cops showed up from a noise complaint call. read more

I recently went in to tour this community. The apartment was exactly what I am looking for. It was spacious with great finishes and a perfect location. Unfortunately, my decision on moving here was made within 5 minutes of arrival to the property and confirmed as we walked the halls. Apparently the leasing agent on duty was having a bad day...seemed absolutely bothered by my arrival. As we walked the halls, I noticed a lack of general housekeeping and the odor of garbage was strong even though there was no trash to be seen. I was actually surprised as how nice the apartment was based on what I saw around the complex, but it was too late. The first impression made by the leasing agent was enough. If you are treated poorly while touring, I can imagine what happens when there is a maintenance issue or other problem that would be addressed with a leasing agent. read more

Updated: My original review is below but I'm happy to report that Agave Management seems to be stepping up to meet the concerns we had. The chaos at the pool seems to have ceased (please don't be a jinx) and I don't see strangers popping in for the weekend anymore. Agave no longer allows any kind of subleasing, to include online sites like AirBnB and StayAlfred. To be clear, the former was never allowed. So good on them. I know I'm happier living here. You get another Agave, thanks for listening. Previous Review: The three stars are strictly for the beautiful building and amenities, the wonderful maintenance crew and the friendly office staff. BUT this place has been riddled with problems! Besides the fire in Dec of 2016 (note that GreyStar went above and beyond to accommodate everyone that was displaced) the elevator breaks down a lot (there has been only one since the aforementioned fire btw), many storage units were burglarized (they've since changed the handles), the bike storage area was robbed and even motorcycles in the garage were stolen! People are constantly searching for "misplaced" packaged even though deliveries are pictured at their door! We now have a night guard but having to call them nearly every weekend because groups are partying at the pool at 0230 gets old pretty fast! I am actually writing this review because I have yet again been woken up and so I've got the time. Here's the kicker, there are several apartments set aside by a vacation rental company here in our little community and they rent units out short-term, super cheap! Then these transients come in, destroy our peace, trash the place and once their vacation is over, off they go! We never would have rented here had we known this was going on! Although they've put a stop to the actual AirBnBs (for now) the other sites are up and actively renting to anyone with a few bucks, even though we as residents pay luxury rents! I'm told there's a legal team looking into this arrangement but it's been weeks with nothing more! It's sad that such a lovely property is being ruined by a few inconsiderate people! Honestly if Agave can't get this situation under control soon we may have no choice but to move. read more

Moved into the Agave in May and have overall been pretty satisfied since. Discovered this place back in March when taking a visit to San Antonio to do a little house hunting. My fiancé and I wanted to live downtown and be able to come home, park, and have bars/restaurants within walking distance of our place. I'm sure like many others we were initially drawn to the Can Plant at the Pearl, but riiiight before we signed a lease there we took a chance and came to see what the Agave was all about. Heidi gave us our tour and was (and has continued to be) very pleasant to work with. The price and most of the amenities are identical to the Can Plant and we like this neighborhood (Southtown/King William) a lot more than the Pearl. Once you go to the 5-6 bars/restaurants at the Pearl you've kind of seen it all and here in Southtown there is much much more to do. The grounds are pretty well maintained here, although we won't be able to tell 100% for sure until the construction is done (they're still building our connection to the river walk and a roof top deck, both of which we're really excited for). The amenities are GREAT. Love the lounge/common TV area... Awesome modern furniture, huge space, and very comfortable. The pool is beautiful (infinity and resort style). And the gym has all brand new equipment and is rarely too crowded. I do wish there was another grill AT the pool, but I'm knit picking about that. Our apartment is exactly what we wanted: a clean modern space with over 700-sq ft and new appliances. It's really nice being the first to ever live in a place. We have one of the apartments that has its balcony located on Cesar Chaves and the view is really cool because it includes the tower of the Americas. A couple things to look out for: people bring way too many guests to the pool. There have been entire families of 15-20 people including many little kids running around at the pool all summer. The staff seemed to have noticed this and have recently assigned bracelets as pool passes so hopefully this will cut down on this dramatically! Next thing is ANTS. On move in day I didn't see a single one, but the next day they were all over my bathroom and kitchen. Went out to buy traps and that did nothing. Put in a maintenance request and they came to spray and that seems to have fixed the problem. That is another plus of this place: there is a live-in superintendent/maintenance guy who is very quick to get into your place to solve problems. Huge props to that. Final thing of note: the garage. I don't quite think it's going to be large enough for the amount of apartments they built. Not all the apartments are full yet and the garage is already very congested and my car has been lightly hit/dinged up in there. For some reason a lot of people have HUGE pick up trucks who live here. Why someone who lives in a downtown urban apartment complex would need to drive around in a Mac truck sized pick up everyday boggles my mind, but this is Texas after all. I would recommend that "car people" (who really care about the safety of their vehicles) buy one of the reserve spots, OR, sell your precious car before you move here and park a car here that you don't really care about. Overall I would 100% recommend this place to others. The neighborhood is great, the staff are super friendly and helpful, and for the first time I feel like the quality of the amenities matches the price I pay for rent. Will update my review when we move out (may only be in Texas for 2 years), but until then I'll be enjoying that pool. read more

It is an undeniably good location if you like access to both Southtown and Downtown. There are some great people and fun activities too. Unfortunately it is often advertised and leased as a non-smoking community, but this is not enforced. Be aware the units are not sealed from each other, so if your neighbor decides to smoke, you are stuck with the second hand fumes. Pot and cigarettes are common second hand smells in the courtyards, hallways, and units. read more

Filed police report and leasing office keeps giving me the run around saying they have not yet reviewed surveillance cameras to assist with investigation. You would think if one of their resident's vehicle was stolen from premises they would be a little more punctual with providing evidence. Makes me wonder if they are trying to hide something and set me up from the beginning. read more

It's not a bad place at all. The office staff can be friendly but you have to break the ice first and let them know you appreciate them. The apartments are nice and the location is excellent. You can walk to the riverwalk restaurants, the interstate is 3 minutes away, pool, gym, and grilling area. The elevator works fine and they have a garbage chute. You need a key fob to access the garage and each apartment floor. They have plenty of emergency lighting but really need to invest in more security cameras. Security cameras keep criminals away and allow you to fine everyone who doesn't pick up after their dog. The parking garage is completely mismanaged. If you're not going to enforce parking rules then allow first come first serve. read more

My favorite part about this place is the pool. On any given weekend in the summer, plenty of people are down there having a good time. This is a great place for transplants looking to meet new people. They also have occasional get together events for the residents. This place is downtown so it is walkable, a rare find in San Antonio minus the pearl. The things I didn't like were so minor and insignificant that they aren't worth mentioning. read more

I lived here from 2016-2017. I want to give an honest, open review of Agave Apartments. Overall, my experience was mixed and ended on a sour note. First, the good stuff: great location, easy to walk to HEB and the Friendly Spot (an awesome place to get a beer and meet people up), lots to do near by. The actual apartments are nice and the complex has a hotel-like ambience and is kept neat. The laundry machines are brand new and work perfectly. There are TVs in every common area, the gym is great. Now the bad stuff. The leasing office staff are okay. They are not rude but they're not warm--they're relatively cold compared to other places I have lived at. My friend dropped off my keys when I was moving out and she had some choice words about them. To be fair, there were certain issues that they were very cool about, including losing my parking pass. However, there are some issues with the place. One is this mysterious thing where people are constantly not getting their mail or Amazon packages, I have no idea what is going on there; but multiple people have complained that they did not receive a package that they ordered. The second is the parking is crowded and the garage has some dangerous blind spots. The third was the online auto-pay payment system is always broken! I set up auto-pay three times and three times their system "broke" and deleted my autopay account and thus, multiple times I had to manually pay online, this was extremely frustrating. My biggest problem with them was that in the process of changing apartments, I emailed their main office 6 months in advance that I would be moving out. When I went to move out, the staff told me that I did not sign the official moving out document, meaning I had to pay rent for another 60 days. I tried to show them the email I sent six months earlier, but they stated that I still needed to have signed that piece of paper and as such I needed to continue to pay rent for 60 days. This is perfectly legal on their part but it felt really unfair and I felt taken advantage of. I had no recourse and paid for the 60 days, in a place I was no longer living in. (Legally, they are supposed to make an effort to find someone to rent the place but we both knew that was not going to happen). Anyway, remember to sign that piece of paper before you move out. read more

Anyone that leaves a bad review of Agave must be one of those very negative people that complain about everything in life. I've been at Agave 4 months and I love our apartment here, the location truly couldn't be better if you're looking for something central and downtown (not to mention on the river). It is very well maintained, shout out to our maintenance crew, great guys - every work order I've put in has gotten resolved either same or next day, and things we bring to management's attention actually gets taken care of. Since I've moved in, Josh, Jessica, and Alex have always been kind and everything I've asked for has been taken care of promptly. They're really on top of things here, and plus putting on cool social events that a bunch of neighbors get together at, which is great for people like me that aren't from the area. The amenities are awesome, free coffee, nice pool and gym, and many places to lounge throughout the property, my favorite being the rooftop. Great experience here so far, 0 complaints. read more

He made everything so quick and painless.
