Well, thanks to Park at West Ave (P@WA) my family was homeless for 24 hours. We visited the property two months ago to find a temporary home for our family of four as we were relocating to the San Antonio area. We viewed their 2 bedroom townhomes, but finally decided on leasing the 3 bed townhome to afford us more space. While we didn't get a chance to view the unit we would ultimately be leasing, we were assured it was almost identical to the 2 bed we toured. Because we lived 2 1/2 hours north at the time of reservation, we postponed signing the lease until we could do an in-person walk-through. Thank God we did. Lori was our leasing agent and the individual who gave us the tour of the units. She was also the one who took us to the unit we reserved to do our pre-move in inspection. She should've just told us to start looking elsewhere. Black mold in the bathroom, unknown mold in the kitchen cabinet, hornet's nests everywhere on the exterior walls and eaves, cobwebs throughout, broken blinds, cabinet shelves and doors? I was shocked that Lori would even bother to bring us to such a place! It explained why she kept rushing us to get back to the leasing office to sign the contract. The fact that she thought we would after seeing all of that was insane. I asked to speak with Sarah (the apartment manager) when I became infuriated at the realization that her employee expected our family to be okay with this s#!tshow of a townhome. That, coupled with the fact that all of our worldly goods were to be delivered to this location within 48 hours, enraged me. Sarah brought over the maintenance supervisor and attempted to mitigate all this drama, but it was spiraling out of her control as I peeled back the layers. We had nowhere to sleep that night, so I tried to find a hotel asap. Thankfully we did, but we were still left with not having a place to receive our home goods. Sarah offered us another unit, same situation: pests, cobwebs, dirty cabinets, hornet's nests, etc; in addition to the unit's being way too small. We agreed to let them clean up a unit for us to move into the following day. I left feeling dirty and pissed off. As I lay in our hotel bed that night I came to the conclusion that there was no way I was going to rent a place that was too small for our family for close to 2K a month, just because P@WA didn't have enough respect for potential (or current) residents to take pride in their property. The plan was to temporarily rent the smaller unit until one of the 3 bed units could be "brought up to standard", then have us move into that one. So, to recap: 4 moves in less than a year? We're a lifetime military family and we have never done that with the Army, let alone because a "luxury" property is too lazy or inept to maintain a unit. We called the property manager and told her we would not be returning and asked her to refund our complete deposit. She did so. It's been a week and a few days- we just received the refund check today. I wouldn't recommend P@WA to anyone, let alone military families. I think the property is a pig painted up with make-up. That's actually an insult to pigs. We were left scrambling to find a place to live with our two children and I'd be utterly disgusted if anyone involved in this debacle still has their jobs. read more

I've been living here for an year and 3 month and here is the reason why I'm giving 1 star and taking my time and effort to give it! I wish I can cancel my extended contract. Overall, this place is in good location. And decent amenities such as gym with tower service. However, my truck got broke into and this is very common here. they don't even care about it. Really, It's been happening alot here not just me. When I saw the other truck was on bricks with no tires on, I thought they were replacing them. But it was actually some one stole their tires and left truck on bricks. I got all of my stuff from the truck stolen. The office told us to make a police report, and they can't do anything. Well ok. This can happen anywhere too I guess. They have a patrol for the club house to make sure to kick everyone out at 10pm, but not for security of tenants. Fine. Second, the trash valet is trash as it is. I don't know who the contractor are, but they simply throw your trash bin away after they pick it up. I put out trash bag and recycle bag separately and they don't even pick up the recycle bag. Instead, they just kick the regular trash bin (or throw it back to floor) your are lucky to find your trash bin out of your door after you put them out. I found mine front of the next door because there was 2 of them and one is like on picture. I really don"t see the point of paying $35 a month when I actually have to go dump out my recycles every day. Overall, this apartment looks great when you see it while you do a tour. But what you see is just sugar coated. It is not worth it to pay this much money for this place. I truly regret my contract here. Do more your homework before you move in here. Oh. I had to add up some more after I read the other reviews. Yes. There is a lots of dogs. I do love pets but there is alot of people don't clean up after their beloved one do their job. I stepped on the poop few times already. There are so many other things to mention too such as fixing dish washer like 5 times and still not working, gate clicker issue that happened many times and other stuff that other ppl mentioned. But can't point them all out because there is SO MANY!!! Updated on Sep 29. Wow. Trash vallet guy took the top of the tiny trash bag, then left the other bag. To be clear, the top of trash bag was very small amount bag that the bin lid was closed all the way. It's not like I put out two big trash bags that can't even be closed. I checked my neighbors to see if trash valet guy have been came through. Worthless. I can't even find this apartment on the better business breu. I researched whois for the parkatwestave and it only shows they are from Arizona. I'm going to find out and report them to BBB as well. read more

Rude Staff I went to look at these apartments. I loved the look and location of them. They were still pretty new and very modern-looking with a bunch of amenities. The downside is like most new apartments they're very small. Worse than that was the office staff. The leasing agent we spoke to was incredibly rude. She didn't even want to offer to let us see one of the empty Apartments. When we asked to see one she acted as if it was a huge favor she was doing for us. Moved in a little over a week ago and nothing I asked to be fixed has been done! Also pool only has 10 ragged lounge chairs which is nowhere near enough!!! The pictures show 24 nice new ones but that's not the reality of what's here! Also pool hasn't been cleaned in over a week; there's still tons of sand in the bottom. The pool gates are broken and falling off. I'd think since we pay some of the highest rent; that our complex would be taken great care of!!! I am extremely disappointed with the care of this place! The staff stole my jewelry and money and then wrongfully evicted me and threw all of my property into the parking lot. Then they realized there wrong and tried to move my stuff back inside after shattering my tablet, putting sugar in a garbage bag with my suits and many more!!! They will not return my calls!!!! They obviously delete the bad reviews! I want my rings ,watch and money back!!! read more

I would not recommend The Park at West Ave as you are not getting high quality for the high price you pay. It's true the community is beautiful, peaceful and quiet. But if you ever have anything go wrong in your apartment you will realize how unhelpful the staff is and how poorly constructed the apartments are. Most of the positive reviews I have seen were submitted before the current management company took over in May of 2015. Over my one year living here I had my roof leak twice! The first time, it took them three months to fix the leak and they promised me they had the roofing company review the roof for further weak spots. But I then had a second leak in a different location a few months after. Each time I tried to call to get assistance I was promised a call back that never came. The second leak took 2 months to fix and they left a mess in the apartment. The other negative is the bugs/pests are rampant. The grounds are beautiful and located next to several parks so nature is expected. But the first summer myself and several other residents had intense sugar ant infestations. I keep an OCD level clean apartment, but the ants were coming from inside the walls behind the stoves and in holes in the molding. I asked several times for assistance since the management company charges us a pest control fee but was told they would only spray outside the apartments on Mondays, and I had to call ahead of time each week to get them to spray inside. I finally treated the ant problem myself after the pest control was doing nothing and I had been living with my food in a storage bin instead of the pantry for over a month. Stuff comes up that is beyond the control of the management, but when a company promotes their customer service I would expect them to be available to residents especially when we are being asked to pay high end amounts--I want high end service. They have no problem charging residents random fees (you will constantly receive emails about trash pickup and dog waste pick up infractions) but when you ask for maintenance help expect a lengthy process and to follow up with them several times. There are plenty of other great communities in the area to try so don't let the beautiful scenery blind you to the problems with management and construction. read more

RENTER BEWARE! The pictures on the website are very deceiving, they were taken from models that were staged and the pictures of a dog park and all the amenities don't exist! This site does NOT look that way. There is no playground, no dog park, no Basketball, and the security gate stays open 24/7 The bottom of the pool is peeling and uninhabitable for swimming. I recently spoke to a police offer who warned me that the police are always there. For drugs use/sales domestic violence, child endangerment and the department refers to it as "the ghetto". The bathtub was in disrepair and needed replacing. The maintenance man spray painted it! My grand daughter is 3 and took her first bath in it. The paint chipped away and my granddaughter was putting them in her mouth! The place is infested with cockroaches and they make my daughter pay for pest control, the base boards are missing, the mirror in the bathroom is peeling off, super weird! All the tenants pay pest control, water and garbage, why? The maintenance man entered her apartment without a notice and left the door unlocked! My daughter gets home at 9:00 she was petrified ! The staff claims it's legal. Texas law says it isn't! KEEP AWAY, FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX. And by the way, my daughter has only lived in her apartment for two weeks!! This complex has very nice amenities and is in a great location. When I toured the property, I was excited to live at this complex, but found out the floor plan I wanted was not available. Then a few weeks later, I got a call that one unit came available and it would be handled on a "first come, first served" basis because some others were also showing interest in the same floor plan. I literally hung up the phone and went directly to my computer to submit my application before anyone else, paid my fees in full, and figured I was good to go. To make sure everything was okay, I paid a visit in person the next morning. The leasing agent that gave me a tour didn't remember me at all, and I found it odd that I was being treated like a nuisance. Well, come to find out, someone else was trying to submit an application at the same time for the same unit. I quickly got the very strong impression that this had never happened before and they had no idea what to do. At the end of our meeting, I was assured that my application was submitted into the system first, so the unit was on hold in my name (hence "first come, first served"). Fast forward a day or two. The front office staff calls me to say some of the features in this unit were not what I expected. I made it clear I was disappointed by this, but it wasn't a deal breaker and I'd like to move forward anyway. I was told there was no reason my application wouldn't be approved in the next day or two, and that was the last step. I was feeling great. The next morning rolls around and I get another call from the leasing agent. She tells me they decided to give that unit away to someone else "in hopes" that another unit closer to our preferences comes available. I was dumbfounded; at that point, I was out $600 in application fees and a security deposit for a unit that was literally given away right out from underneath my feet - against what I said literally the day before! They, like any other complex, can't guarantee that someone else will move out. Given all the trouble and negative circumstances, I ultimately decided to withdraw my application before I was stuck with no unit at all. Not to mention I am very dissatisfied with the treatment I have received. To add insult to injury, the complex "isn't sure" yet if they will refund my fees completely. Long story, short? Untrustworthy (and unfriendly) front office staff, extremely unclear application handling, and highly questionable ethics. I love the property itself, but I definitely do not recommend this property's staff. Steer clear if you're a prospective renter. read more

Great before TIPTON! Everything went downhill. Been here since early November of 2014. The women in the office are a joke ...on a good day. The young to middle age one with dark long strangly-hair is incompetent and always late owning the office on time AND she lives here I believe. Can't use gym because they now close the CLUBHOUSE at 5 or 6pm, even on weekends. No events can be scheduled there. They also put a 2 person limit on guests at pool area and MUST WEAR ARM BANDS. this isn't YMCA they need to relax, it's TX for heaven's sake!!! They also sent a letter to residents staying they would have "ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL ON PROPERTY TO MONITOR POOL POLICIES". They act like idiots and I'm glad my lease has 1 1/2 mths to go. read more

We moved in about two weeks ago and since the beginning when we first toured the property back in JUNE, it has been the most pleasant ordeal I've ever had with an apartment complex. The grounds are amazing and well maintained. The apartment upgrades are fantastic and we have had zero issues thus far, even if we had I've seen so many different maintenance workers I doubt it would take long for someone to come out and assist. Stephanie in the office was extremely helpful and very professional and friendly while working with us for our move. So far Park at West Ave seems worth every single penny spent. read more

The price is worth it. I love it here and hate that we have to leave due to husband receiving orders to move to San Diego! The dog park is nice as well as the amenities! The grounds are beautiful and are always kept looking good. The women at the front office have been great and I would recommend this place to any one. We went in with high hopes because the complex and apartments are beautiful but don't let that be what makes you live here. We have lived here for about 4 months and completely regret the decision. The plumbing is horrible our sinks and tub take at least an hour to drain, the kitchen sink backs up into the dishwasher constantly and floods the floor. the walls and floor/ceiling are so thin that we can hear every time our neighbors flush the toilet or have their tv on (at 6am). The office staff does absolutely nothing about complaints not even a call back (there is one girl who is amazing but I can't remember her name). We never get informed if we have a package waiting for us unless we go in the office and ask. Last but not least the parking sucks after 10pm we have to park roughly a block away from our apartment and no one picks up their dog shit, I know they really don't have control over this but it's something to keep in mind Edit: they have fixed the drains and plumbing Another edit: you're truck tires are not safe here!! They have been stealing tires here since I moved in (about 15 months ago) seriously besides all the other stuff I mentioned this is happening and it seems like it's either some one that lives here or someone the employees know cause it only happens here, not at gardens at west or Indian hollow. It's absurd for the amount that you pay that this would happen so often. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE. read more

I've never had any issues here, and the staff are really friendly. Since I'm from out of town, I was relying on them for a lot during move-in and getting to know people. They were incredibly helpful. They also throw great pool parties for the residents! I've also never been given a wristband so I'm not sure where that's coming from in previous reviews. I would not recommend park at west avenue. They had the facilities closed during Memorial Day Weekend!! How stupid is that? Only 1 of the 2 grills had butane to use the grill. There was no bathroom tissue in the facilities. This place is poorly managed. I called to complain and all they did was try to defend of make excuses. Don't rent from here, there are better places that are managed more professionally. read more

So I started with a tour and then disclosed ALL of my criminal history background PRIOR to paying the application fee to Lori who obviously was not listening. So I went forward with PAYING the application fee thinking I would be given a chance.... a couple days later I call to see the status and im told by Sarah in a rude voice that I was denied and implied it was OBVIOULSY of course going to get denied due to the specific charge that is currently on going. I told sarah then why was I told to still apply if that Is an AUTO denial. she then put me on speaker with herself and lori and it was basically an argument match, I couldn't even talk because they would talk over me AND trying to defend themselves. and I just like to make the point of WHAT IDIOT WOULD APPLY IF THEY KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE AN AUTOMATIC DENIAL???? and on top of that of course I was not refunded the application fee even though I was lead to believe I had a chance at getting approved! read more

I have had no issues so far since living here. I accepted a job here in San Antonio and was moving from Austin. I had a small window to find a place and move in before my start date and the complex was able to get my lease approved and keys to me that same day. Kayla who works in the office really came though to ensure that I left with keys in hand that same day. Maintenance is very fast in completing service requests and the location is excellent. Not a lot of traffic even with it being next to 1502. Will eventually upgrade to a townhome in the future but the floor plan for the 1 bedroom was adequate and has a lot of cabinet space in the kitchen. Highly recommend this complex. read more

Loved this apt. complex when we first moved in! Since new management took over has been a living hell! Office staff is under par, not to mention the maintenance staff!! Took them two TWO WEEKS to get our kitchen lights back on!!! By unfortunate events due to life changing circumstances, we were forced to sign another lease. Ha! By the way if we signed a 12 month lease our rent went up $150! If you're thinking about trying to move here don't!!! read more

I have lived at this complex for two years and have always loved this complex. Recently, I have some safety concerns regarding other residents. I approached the manager on duty and was told there was nothing she could do. I have expressed concerns for my safety as a woman and the manager did not care. I do not feel safe at times. I cannot walk freely in the complex especially at night. read more
