I originally found Agave Beauty & Spa when I purchased a gift card for my aunt's 60th birthday. She absolutely LOVED her experience and has been coming back ever since Liz is now her go-to for facials, and Linda is her girl when she wants a strong massage! I recently had chin lipo and scoured the internet desperate to find a place that does lymphatic drainage massage as my post op instructions suggested I have multiple sessions to help with the healing process. Most spas offer lymphatic drainage with a facial, but I didn't want that. I just wanted the massage. I found Agave through Yelp and I am so glad I did. This place is located on a quiet street in uptown Whittier. There's free parking in front on the street or a free parking structure directly across. The place is small on the outside but seems bigger on the inside. It's super clean and gives off a relaxing vibe. The massage room has a wall of battery operated candles that give off that ambient lighting and the soothing music is the cherry on top. Liz is so sweet. Talking to her feels like talking to an old friend. She's knowledgeable and good at what she does. The first session I did, I just got the facial massage, but during my session she learned I was post op and suggested the chin contour treatment which comes with red light therapy to promote healing and another machine that uses heat to help tighten the skin. The massage feels like a good type of pain. I know she's working her magic and I leave Agave with my jawline snatched. I love how she suggests things I can do while at home, in between sessions. And she makes sure I'm doing my part to help myself heal. I can't wait to be fully healed and try the other treatments they offer. I booked a couples massage here for my fiancés birthday. I was pleased with the booking upgrade that came with the room decorations, mini chocolates and rose petals with a bottle of champagne. The massages were great- they don't ask you for customization requests but did a great job at general pressure. We were both very cold towards the end and a bit uncomfortable because I think the oil wasn't mixed correctly and we had strong peppermint on our bodies. My buddy and I were looking to get a massage and body scrubs in Uptown Whittier, so we did some Yelp Research, and it led us to Agave Beauty & Spa in Whittier. We made an appointment for later in the afternoon for a full body massage by Susan for $80 + tip and body scrub by Tin for $55 + tip as of this writing. There is a small parking lot in the back, but very limited parking. Do note there's literally a parking structure right in front of the spa. Also, there are many spas around, but I think out of the many, my buddy and I preferred Agave even though it was a bit more in terms of price but you realy get what you pay for here. The service can be compared to as vegas spas great job to the owners for making this a GEM for Whittier. The Body Scrub was great I got all many years of dead skin out 30 years to be exact lol, and the massage itself was very good i really needed it. I love getting massages, and it's been so long since l've had one, so it was nice to treat myself to have an hour to just destress and relax. The place is very zenful and very earthly. I love earth tones. The place feels very modern with amazing bamboo walls. I do recommend making appointments as they are quite busy. After we were done with the massage, we even got a glass of mimosas. Overall, I would recommend it, and I am curious to see how other spas and massage places compare! An absolute oasis of relaxation in Uptown Whittier!! First and foremost, the massage itself was absolutely perfect 1000/10 and trust me i have been to too many here in Whittier. Plus there windows are see through which brings in a safe place even if you were seeing it from the outside. The day I was there I was extremely blown away to see how happy couples coming in an out after there couples massage. My favorite experience during my massage with Jasmin was the hot stones and the herbal ball undoubtedly the highlight of my visit. The combination of soothing heat and aroma of the herbs compressed to your skin with expert manipulation of the stones worked wonders on my tired muscles, leaving me feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Would recommend this (and hot stones is part of the treatment!!) What's more impressive is that Agave Beauty and Spa offers exceptional value for the quality of service. My husband treated me to a nice birthday/early Mother's Day treat at Agave! I was so excited because I had been eyeing this place since it opened and it's walking distance He got me a body scrub and massage which there was special running at the time. The place is very nice and clean. My session began with the massage and the room was nice, I just wish it was a little darker and quieter. You can hear everything that's happening in the front. At one point my masseuse stepped away to grab something and I can hear her conversation. She was also wearing these high heel shoes and the floors were hardwood, so I kept hearing her shoes clank from time to time during my session. The massage kind of took me by surprise because I was expecting a standard Swedish massage but before I knew it, she was on top of me and making me lift to stretch my back and it was more intense. I think my husband chose the Ashiatsu massage. Haha. ‍ It wasn't as relaxing as I was hoping and unexpected. After the massage, I headed to the next room for the scrub, I've never gotten a body scrub before and I very much enjoyed it! The body scrub was definitely my favorite and I loved how my skin felt. I definitely would like to come back and try the other services like a facial for sure. I just wished my massage and the ambiance was a little more relaxing. But, if you're looking for a spot that has more of a spa feel and is local, this would be it. There are far too many rinky dink massage places around here that charge just about the same. read more
