    Beware when having an appliance delivered from Lowe's in the Chicagoland area…read more I ordered a refrigerator online from the Lowe's website on a Monday night since the site said I could have it delivered on Thursday that week if I paid an additional $39 for FAST Delivery. Thursday was the only day I had availability that week, and I'd been without a working refrigerator for a week. So I needed the refrigerator ASAP. I got a notification the day before the delivery date saying that the refrigerator would be delivered between 12:30 and 4:30 pm on Thursday. On Thursday, I got a voicemail at 4 pm from Lowe's third-party delivery company, saying my delivery team would be late and to expect them around 5 or 5:30. Since no one arrived or contacted me by 6:30, I called the third-party delivery company, who said their truck broken down, so they couldn't deliver that day. I thought that was odd since they had to have other trucks in their fleet that they could use to hit the delivery date. (I later found they have 40 trucks in their fleet.) Still wanting delivery that Thursday, the delivery company transferred me to Lowe's, who said that not only could I NOT get my refrigerator on Thursday, they couldn't deliver it the next day either on Friday. The soonest it could be delivered was SATURDAY. I asked if they could refund me the money I paid to have the refrigerator delivered with FAST Delivery on Thursday since they failed to meet that delivery date, but they said I'd need to wait until the refrigerator was delivered. The refrigerator was delivered on Saturday, and the delivery crew did an excellent job. BUT, they too were confused why my refrigerator delivery wasn't moved to the next day (Friday). On Thursday the following week, I called Lowe's Customer Care to see if they could issue me a credit not only for the $39 fee but also an additional discount since I hadn't purchased an appliance before from Lowe's, and this had been an awful experience. They said they never charged me for the $39, which I thought had been baked into the other refrigerator costs. All they said they could do was issue me a $50 gift card. Since I didn't want to be forced to make another purchase and possibly have another negative experience, I asked if they could add a credit back to my credit card instead. They said they couldn't, so I declined the gift card and am now leaving this review about my experience. I did try to leave a review on the Lowe's website with my experience, but they declined to post it. All in all, this felt like a bait and switch tactic, where I was lured in with the appeal of FAST Delivery but then actually got my delivery at a later time than I'd wanted (and not even the next day). I only purchased this refrigerator from Lowe's since I thought it'd be delivered on Thursday with FAST Delivery. If they couldn't have delivered on Thursday, I would have bought a refrigerator from another company.
