I'm in love with this place. I can purchase anything from flowers to herbs from here at a decent price. I usually get a mini rose bush (no more than $10) and keep it at my window as they last longer than roses from the supermarket. I also purchase peppermint, spearmint, and rosemary to get my mini window herb garden going at my dining room window seal in the warmer months. They have a very limited selection of Calatheas so when I do find one here I grab it and ask no questions. I am very disappointed in the service I received. They tell you they have a guarantee on their plants and I wanted to exchange 2 of 3 plants that I purchased at the same time. While telling me that I needed to water 2 of the same type of plant more than the other (because that's something I should inherently know ) this Caucasian person proceeded to say to me, a black woman, "I know you're not a bad person...." to which I asked how or why that was even relevant. I was extremely offended by this comment so I asked to speak to a manager who tried to justify it. It is UNACCEPTABLE to bring my character into question when I am merely asking questions! When I went to post this review I saw the other negative reviews about how the employees are rude, and condescending to black people. I will spend my money elsewhere in the future. read more

All the staff are wearing masks which is great. They definitely have a variety of indoor and outdoor plants, the popular ones, however, go quickly. (Ed: indoor Z plant) The number of staff was very small the last time I went, so I navigated the store myself and had to figure out which plants met my need the best. I would like to thank the staff at Fasel and Son for asking a woman to put her mask on; when a customer came in with her mask off and potentially risked the health of staff and the rest of us shoppers. Not only is it a mandate to wear one, in the state but the village of Oak Lawn as well. She was screaming that she was exempt. I personally would have called the police and had her removed. I believe there is a sign posted stating everyone has to wear a mask. The sign was posted for everyone. Not just select people. I personally would not have accepted her money and honored the safety of my employees and customers by escorting her out and accommodating her when the store was void of other shoppers. Possibly before or after hours since she has an alleged disability. I have a letter from my medical professional that I carry with me. Though I respect others and wear my mask. If someone could yell and carry on for as long as she did, one would expect that she might have been able to take her time and walked through to do her shopping with less on an issue while wearing her mask. Let her try that at Home Depot or Menards instead. I have a heart condition and other underlying medical issues. I walked in and right back out when I saw her screaming without her mask on. I am medically exempt from wearing a mask but do so, out of respect and comfort of others. That is what selfless, respectful,caring humans do for one another! Even when they have difficulties of their own. Science is science. I wonder what University she graduated from that made her more of an expert than the top experts in an entire country. read more

This company doesn't stand behind their products! I purchased over a $100 worth of flowers. and within 2 days the $22 flower wither and died! I called the store manager as soon as the flower had issues! He said to bring the flower back. So when i took the flower back! He immediately accused me of not watering the flower! Which isn't true! I've been planting and caring for flowers since i was a kid! Taught by the best .. my Mom. This manager walked up to the counter Rude and said He's not accepting the flower back! He told me to take the flower home and soak it in a bucket of water! Which I've never heard of such cure to bring a obviously dead flower back to life! So i assumed when i called him regarding the defective flower he didn't realize i was African American! As soon as he walked up to the counter and realize i was the customer with the problem.. without asking any questions he rudely said he wasn't taking the flower back! This Garden Center have certain policies for certain race of the customers! Blacks patronize this business! But they obviously are racist! I have kept flowers at my home for over twenty years and never had any to shrivel up and die in under a week. Today after speaking with someone this morning I came back with the two plants in question. My you I purchased 10 plants on May 30th and I only had a problem with two. The guy in the nursery was, rude, condescending and accusatory. Some guy Sandy, just assumed I didn't have the sense to water the plants and began a short Ted talk on plant watering! Didn't offer a one time replacement, or even abide by the policy on the website and receipt. Instead he was rude and disrespectful. Therefore I will never purchase anything from that plant nursery again. Spent over $100 there only to be treated terribly. While I know my lack of patronage won't ruin their business, but I know enough plant enthusiasts that I will cheerfully deter from shopping there. I have been going to Fasel's on and off for years. Never again. They absolutely do not stand by their products. I purchased $60 worth of perennials on a Friday, by Monday 2 were dead. Returned on Tuesday afternoon and was told by NATE, the offhanded 'manager', that the one was not watered and put his finger in and said does this look watered, this is not watered. He then says: "Would you go to the Jewel and buy a gallon of milk leave out and return the next day and say no good." Yes Nate I would. That is why I shop at Costco. No questions asked. Out of all the plants 2 were dead. They were all out in the same garden w rain. Mr Nate, did not care Stand by your product. I spend between 8 and 900 dollars a year at this place every year, except 2020 because Covid. This year we bought a summer home and I need DOUBLE the flowers plus all the pots, dirt, outdoor decorations for the second location. This is all on top of my home vegetable garden and all the gardening supplies I need this year to introduce my 3 children to planting. I will never step foot in this place again. I was in here with my baby and toddler and he was getting super fussy. I went into the back of the nursery where there isn't a lot of other shopper traffic and starting nursing my baby, in a baby carrier, fully covered. My 21 month old of course can't wear a mask for obvious reasons. I was approached by a younger male employee and when he figured out what my baby was doing he told me I could have more privacy in my car. Um, no. I told him that it's actually illegal to tell a mother feeding her child to cover up or leave. He then retorted that it is illegal for my other child, the 21 month old, to not have his face covered. Once again, no. I left my full cart where it was and left . I thought maybe this was just a bad employee but after reading reviews, wow, this place is horrible. How about touching up on the law. Had two trees die over the winter. They refused to help me look up a receipt so that the warranty can be covered. I had the date I purchased the trees. I was told they were too busy to assist me. This is terrible customer service. Everyone was short with me and clearly pawned off the fact that I did not have my receipt as an excuse to not deal with me. I have my own company and we are able to research and find any receipts a customer has. Just pure laziness and terrible customer service. I will never buy there again. I wanted to like this place but it was overpriced for everything. There were some things like garden decorations or hand tools I actually found for cheaper at the dollar store lol. I also wasn't impressed with their selection of flowers. While the staff was knowledgeable they were often hard to find and when you were able to track someone down for help I noticed they seemed to have an attitude which was definitely off-putting. Come spring and summer I'm usually there purchasing annuals, most of my garden's perennial space is well established. But that's where Fasel's comes in handy. Not only do they have all the usual tools, bulbs, pots, soil, fertilizers, insecticides, garden decorations, etc, etc. but Nate will can help you plan your garden for free. They won't do the installation but can guide you towards the plants they can sell to you and how they can be utilized in your garden. Nate is worth his weight in gold!!! Many times he has given me advice on how to trim hydrangeas, transplanting plants, the pluses and minuses of varying varieties. He truly knows his stuff! Granted they might be a bit pricier that the Home Depots or Lowes but they are a nursery that has better quality and better advice. Try getting that at one of the big box stores. On the minus side if you want some more exotic plants they may not carry them here due to the area's demand. In addition we went there for a Christmas tree this year and was sorely disappointed in the selection. Otherwise I endorse going here, they've been around awhile and again Nate is almost worth it alone. read more

Hey! This is Grandma's favorite place to get plants 'n stuff, and she comes all the way from Garfield Ridge, too! Now, I don't know much about flowers and lawn decorations, but this place is a solid lil' joint to go for veggie plants, flowers, and Christmas trees. As a matter of fact, we've gotten a tree here three years in a row. Since we live just across the street, we also have a tradition of me sprinting across Cicero avenue with a giant Christmas tree balanced on my shoulder. We've had nothing but good experiences here. Plus, if you're on your way to visit your Aunt Edna in the cemetery, they have a variety of wreath plants and decorations to suit your needs. read more
