I spoke with Cheryl in their office, begging her to send a nurse to look at it even though I saw one just two days ago. I have a hx of cellulitis in that leg, even from small wounds like that and I am a diabetic. She refused, saying "it's not a thing." Cheryl kept talking over me and refused to shut up so I hung up on her. I even swore at her, which I wish I didn't do but I am scared about what could happen to me. My next scheduled nursing visit is in 5 days. A lot can happen in 5 days. As a medical professional she should know this! The front of the folder they gave me says "Call us first. We may be able to help you avoid unplanned hospitalizations if we know you need our help." That's a big fat lie. I wouldn't recommend Centerwell Home Health to my worst enemy, even my ex-husband.

They finally sent me someone and said she has to be there three hours. Well after 25 minutes, she said to me I'm all done and started to leave. I had to ask her to please dust please clean my bathroom, etc. she left about seven minutes later, she never touched the tub, sink or toilet. She did my floors but not well. I talked to home instead about it and Shawna told me that she was sorry and would have somebody else for me today that was one of the best, she said she would not send the same person back, but what do you know, the same person came back with an attitude-she was not there for five minutes and said she was leaving and walked Out. When I called home instead, Debbie told me I was rude and Shawna told me that the cleaning person was giving a different story and she was Kurt with me. Well, do you think they're gonna tell the truth? I've been yelled at called names and was promised a call back two hours ago that I never got from someone else. These are senior citizens, many with disabilities. The name of the businesses is home instead, because they say they offer home care so people can stay home. This is exactly what I was looking for. The paperwork is something that is taken care of through a third party vendor and all payments we made were through our credit card. Michael and Erica took care of the scheduling, no worries on whether someone would be there as we needed them. As for the home health care aides, each one in turn was professional and kind, well versed in the needs of the elderly. I would be happy to provide an individual reference for any one of the home health aides we worked with. Each one in turn treated our Dad with dignity and our Mom with respect and kindness. They are highly recommended.

Caregiver training and and norms are not standard and appropriate knowledge is just assumed. If you are placing a caregiver in an environment where no one will bother checking in on the client and what's being provided, this could be a fit for you and those unfortunate clients. But if your client/patient/loved one is important enough that care quality will be monitored, and/or you need timely turnaround on paperwork/documents save yourself the aggravation and go elsewhere.
