Noa Noa Hawaii - Mahalo Aya for helping me find the dress I was looking for!

Shopping in Ward Center in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. This shopping complex will be gone soon. Many businesses have cleared out and Noa Noa is one of the last ones still open. I had passed by this batik shop many times in the past, but never went inside. Today, June 21, 2026, was their last day, so I walked in to look around. Note: they won't be receiving more inventory because of the tarrifs, one of the vendors retired, etc. Sally was an excellent sales associate. She knew the fabrics (cotton vs. linen vs. bamboo), the origins of the prints, the styles, etc. Sally briefly explained the intricate process of making batik fabric. Wow... she even showed me a pattern stamp and swatches. She really knew her stuff... because she's worked at Noa Noa for over 13 years! I got a couple of dresses because natural fibers - such as cotton - should be cooler to wear. (I'm perspiring more because it's summer now...) I'll try itvout and get more at their smaller Waikiki shop or their new shop which will be nearby. Yay!

I walked in having no idea where to begin because there's so many beautiful garments to look at. I didn't have a style or color preference, I just knew I wanted to buy something nice. Aya politely asked me a few questions to narrow down the search. She then pointed out some of the different styles in my size. Together, we pulled a few dresses off the rack and Aya led me to a fitting room. Excitedly, I had four lovely dresses to try on. As I was in the fitting room, Aya politely offered information about the different fabrics, the variety of styles and sizes, she even explained the best method for gentle washing. When I came out of the dressing room without "the" dress speaking to me, Aya pointed out another rack that I had not yet browsed. Then BOOM, there it was! The color! The size! The fabric! The style! Winner, winner, Aya helped this beginner :) After trying it on and walking around the store in it, it was done. Mission accomplished thanks to Aya! Love my pretty new dress, Mahalo Aya :)

They carry a limited number of prints, but the same print will be used for men's shirts, women's dresses and infant clothes. So a young family can get matching Hawaiian attire in these beautiful fabrics. They carry a broad range of Hawaiian upscale artisan merchandise. They had a limited selection of Aloha bags in the most recent patterns. Vintage style Hawaiian prints, locally crafted jewelry and a limited amount of home decor are among the shop's offering. The clerks were friendly without being overbearing. Prices were are a premium, but worth it to get genuine Hawaiian products. The shop is located in Chinatown. There is highly coveted metered street parking or a parking garage near by.

I bought it back today to try to exchange. I was informed that it was their policy that without a receipt they couldn't do anything and I was stuck with the top. The sales person was the same one who sold me the top the previous day so she knew I purchased it. I had a receipt on my Venmo app as well as in my ApplePay app...still not acceptable. She checked with Roberta Oaks so it is the owners inflexible policy. I will never go to this shop nor will I ever recommend this shop. I gave the blouse away. It's too bad they don't value the satisfaction of their customers.

I rarely shop at Ala Moana Center (AMC) as parking and heavy foot traffic keeps me away…read more Just the other month, a former colleague and good friend came back to Hawaii for just a few days and we spent the day together. After a quick lunch at Don Quixote, she wanted to go shopping so we headed to AMC and headed to Ross Dress For Less to take advantage of 10% off senior discount on Tuesdays. After shopping at Ross, we had time to kill to meet her nephew and decided to move on over to neighboring Old Navy (ON). ON has been around for quite some time. How long do you ask? They started in 1994 by parent company Gap Inc. and has grown to over 1100 stores worldwide. ON's window fall display drew my friend in as there these suede boots was a fall coat that really appealed to her. We made our way in and our lucky stars lined up as the boots were in her size and had the color she wanted and had the coat in her size of extra small. She tried the coat on and just loved it. However, there were 2 things that concerned her: the weak Japanese yen against the US dollar and that many people had probably touched that coat and wanted a new one. Sadly, after going through store inventory, it was revealed that was the last extra small on hand. She asked if they would drop the price where the associate declined but instead offered to have her open a credit card for an automatic discount. My friend now declares her residence full time in Japan and the thought of billing discouraged the purchase. She instead just bought some suede boots and festive fall accessories, and then headed to the checkout line. It was disappointing that there were only 2 associates behind the counter. Those associates were assisting customers checking out where they had a lot of items. The associates engaged with the customers as we witnessed laughing here and there. Time ticked and then next thing we noticed the line grew 10+ customers now waiting to check out. We were in line for about 15min waiting until finally a 3rd associate came down to assist with checkout. Our turn arrived where we paid for our purchase and walked out. Mixed feelings on my recent visit where customer service should have been better. It wasn't meant for my friend to get the coat. I've shopped at ON multiple times previously and have also received gifts purchased here. Prices are affordable and of good quality which makes me return to ON. 2025 #65

I got a FE diaperbag as a gift but had NO IDEA how to use it - it's an older version with the bassinet attachment. It was from an aunty, NWOT, and I don't mind it didn't have tags, or that it's an older version. I've always been the kind of girlie to thrift shop because I'm not a fan of what the clothing industry has done to our planet. This is why we went to FE-Kapolei in the first place: for someone to help us figure out how to use this thing. Read my review for the Kapolei location to know what happens next. Anyways, since that first visit, I visited FE a bunch of times because of their baby clothes. One reason I'm also not a FE person is the prints are too much for me. Put it this way, the only print I would kind of consider wearing is the simple fish print in black, no other colors! And then next thing you know, there's also a baby section as well for my son! Having a baby changes you, I'll still thrift for my clothes, but I wouldn't mind getting my son the newest clothes from a locally owned, woman ran business. Also, I LOVE being able to text the store and reserve items, no driving all the way to find out it's not there! And the quality of the clothes is definitely there. Decided to buy a baby onesie for our family photos and another baby onesie for our friends who are pregnant. I know baby clothes don't last long, but I just couldn't help myself! Overall, I may only like a couple things from FE, but the fact that it's supporting local is a big plus for me! Also, the quality of the clothing is so great considering the price.
