xtreme close up - wearing Chinese lantern ornament in my hair
    Kaliko P.

I should have taken pictures but I totally forgot. I came here looking for some Chinese clothing to wear for Halloween since it seems Wal-Mart and Target stopped carrying "racial" outfits. Hey! I am Chinese and I want to wear Chinese clothing!! Things I was looking for: 1) Chinese clothing - they had some traditional clothing, but they were super duper expensive. Also dusty. 2) Plastic knickknack lanterns - I put them in my hair for ornaments. I don't think they were intended for this purpose but they were small enough and they cost 75 cents so it was cheap. I bought two. One for each hair bun. They were pretty! 3) Flat black "Mary Janes" - do you remember these shoes that kids used to wear in the 80's? They were those ubiquitous, black, flat Kung Fu shoes everyone wore because they were cheap. Well guess what? They are HARD to find. And only one shop had them in all of Chinatown, Kimi's! These were also hard to find, since they were on a rack outside in crumbling, dirty old plastic bags. I almost passed them up on my way out of Chinatown and my son spotted them. One pair was like $9.00. Not too bad, considering I used to pay $6.00 for them a long long time ago. I'll come back to this place if I decide to be a Chinese person again.

Kimis is located in Maunakea Marketplace and is the only store in Chinatown to carry a large selection of merchandise. You wonder how they make from the start of COVID last year. Their prices are affordable. I was looking for Chinese lion head and Year of Ox charm for my friends. There was different sizes of lion head and marionette style for hanging. Inside store, 2 Female ladies who speak Vietnamese and 1 guy who spoke English. I asked the guy if they had Chinese horoscope calendar. He said that they had 1 scroll for $3.00 and mentioned factory in China was closed. The other calendar from last year was not made. I didn't buy anything but will come back to buy fake flowers for flower arrangement.

Need bamboo plants? This is the best place to get it. They have the biggest selection at the best prices - guaranteed. And all the workers are so nice over there. There's also other cool stuff like lotus lamps, diamond rocks and other Chinese type knick knacks.

She also has a fairly good selection of bamboos. This one was $7.

My daughter found a few things that she really fell in love with. Once we got home, I went online and ordered the items and few extra things I liked. I thought it would be fun to surprise her. and she was missing Oahu so much. After I did the order I received an email stating that two of the items were not in stock anymore and I was so disappointed I sent an email. Just checking to see if they were sure, and if there was anything else we could do or if they were going to restock. Maria from the Home Office was the one to get back in touch with me and she was fabulous. As I was looking through the stock trying to pick something different, she emailed me to tell me that they found my two items. I was so excited.and I was so pleased that she took the extra time to look for the items for me. The extra effort she put in shows what great Customer Service this company gives their customers and by the way, my daughter absolutely loved the two items. Thanks so much Maria and thank you SoHa Living

Fast forward to August, less than a year and my table is splitting. This was not from water damage, over use, or placing heavy objects, humidity or weather related. It just started to split at the end and has continued to grow. Contacted warrenty support which responds quickly. This is what they said not under warrenty. Buyer beware here is their response for me to take care of this on my own. For the price and support this is a 1 star would be zero if possible. That said, here are some suggestions you may consider to help manage or improve the condition: Use a wood filler or repair putty to smooth out the split area, followed by a light sanding and touch-up stain. Apply furniture wax or sealant to protect the wood from absorbing excess moisture in the future. Maintain stable room conditions by keeping the furniture away from direct sunlight, heaters, or damp areas to minimize further expansion or contraction. Engage a local furniture repair service if you'd prefer a professional touch-up. We'll be closing the claim since this type of concern is not covered under the warranty.

" I came the other day to return a Christmas present my daughter received! The sales clerk would not give my a merchandise credit even it was clearly a SOHA Living item marked $35.80 with NO red line! She said since I did not have a gift receipt or know my daughters girlfriends name so they could look it up, there was Nothing she could do!!! Really? I asked for the supervisor/manager! That's when Rita came to the counter, again asking me all those same questions that I didn't know! Why should it matter?? I have your merchandise, not marked down!! Plus, I showed her a 1/2 page advertisement that was in the newspaper stating "After Christmas SALE up to 70% off". I had come in on 12/26 and there were only signs of 50% off! When I asked, what was 70% off, the girl at counter said it was online! But she couldn't find anything online that was 70% off! So very misleading! FALSE ADVERTISING!! So when Rita said she had to call her manager, I told her to ask about the ad! Well, Rita returns and finally gives me a gift card for $35.80. No tax? I'm sure all my credits have included the tax!! Also, she didn't talk to anyone and just decided to do " the right thing" But claimed she did not give me a hard time! I really like this store and appreciate 2 sisters who went to Punahou started this business and SoHa Keiki but will have to think twice on patronizing them because of the bad customer service! Please note that I gave this business a 5 Star Review on 4/18/2018! Wow, how much has changed in those 6 years! So sad!!
