My friend really enjoys their full-bodied taste and dryer wines that many other wineries in the area do not offer. The service is always friendly and informative. Came here a little early before the crowd. We had David as our server. He was very knowledgeable and gave us very detailed information about the different wines. My husband and I came to Ravines as part of our 5th anniversary trip. We made a reservation for a Thursday afternoon and were seated outside, which had a beautiful view of the lake. There were only a few other parties so we had good service and a relaxing experience. I chose the Bright Whites flight and my husband chose the Classics flight. The wine was some of the best we've had in the Finger Lakes, and our server was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. An absolutely excellent and unique experience. Byron was so delightful to chat with behind the bar as he told us stories and gave us wine tasting tips. We loved hearing about all of his experiences and getting his opinions on what we should try! Sandy was a ray of sunshine as she rang us out and we shared so many common interests that we could have stood there and chatted all day.... And we almost did! On to the wine- we have lived in the finger lakes area most of our lives and this was BY FAR the best tasting wine we've ever had. It was dry but smooth. Never too sweet and yet never bitter. This is a pretty good place to stop by around Keuka Lake. The tasting room is a bit small compared to the other major wineries. The tasting has 5 tasting wines for $3. A really good deal! The pours were pretty heavy too compared to the other places we checked out. The wines that they have for the tasting are more towards the drier side; not a lot of semi-sweet options. You can bring your dog in! They also have this pretty good deal if you sign up to be a member. Free wine every quarter. read more

Downstairs tasting room is an awesome choice, we had a group that inhabited that area. I don't know how to gain access but it would be worth looking into. They have a nice outside deck to sit on. I'm not sure about accessibility cause the steps and pitch of the entrance were substantial. Maybe that's another use for the downstairs room. read more

He was very knowledgeable, informative, attentive, congenial, and yes, charming - all the best qualities of a tasting room server, and especially for one without a long history in the business. Ravines makes some of our favorite wines in the Finger Lakes. We're lucky enough to have been able to try Ravines wines in both of their tasting rooms and had fabulous experiences each time. This tasting room has a beautiful sloping lake view that really takes your breath away in the fall as well as a beautiful vineyard view sloping up away from the lake. Just for the views alone, I would recommend Ravines. Seery took us through our tasting and he was generous, kind, and informative. For $5 you can sample 5 different wines that you can choose from an extensive list. While everything here is top notch, we ended up purchasing their Pinot Noir and 2016 estate Riesling. Ravines is located on the east side of Keuka Lake right off of East Lake road so it does not have the great views like the wineries perched up on the hills such as McGregors on the east and Heron Hill on the west. The tasting room is rather small but that was not a problem on the day before Thanksgiving since there were only two groups imbibing when we were there. The tasting is a bit cheaper than other places at $3 for 5 samples. The wine itself was good and the server was a real chatter. Overall it was a nice experience but the lack of a stunning view subtracts a star in my book. read more

The large commercial endeavors that get a lot of traffic and make a lot of wine (usually rather boring, but popular) The smaller wineries owned by a small group (friends or family), that are committed to make their dream come true and make great wines (with varying degrees of success) But then, there's the Ravines type places, there are a few, but they're great! Ravine has two tasting facilities in the finger lakes. With beautiful views and friendly and helpful staff. They have a lot of wines and a lot of costumers. But they also have a lot of great wines! We got lucky and got a great wine server that steered us in the right direction based on our tastes. She was knowledgeable and friendly, and steered me to try one of the wines that wasn't in my list. That's the wine I ended up buying! So good, I have to go back and get more All in all, a great experience. read more

Ravines is certainly a different type of winery for the area. You can tell this place is influenced a great deal by the world's finest wineries and more refined styles. Simply put it's a more upscale winery than others in the region. We tried the chocolate/wine pairing and I've got to say it was very enjoyable. We were a large group and we knew Ravine's was busy. We could see people all over the grounds. Since we had no reservation, only 2 of our girls went in as they are interested in the drier wines. The rest of us were happy to wait in the car. It was very upsetting seeing both girls come out almost immediately. They were actually not even going to taste if it wasn't possible, but my friend was sent with a pretty lengthy list of wines to purchase. Sadly, they were told that they were not accepting walk ins and said they were too short handed to accommodate anyone without a reservation. She didn't care that they were only going to shop. Lovely views, knowledgeable staff.. Outside they have a lovely terrace area when you can sit and have some wine. Also downstairs is the wine cellar/tasting room. Sleek and clean.. this vineyard was started by a Frenchman so.. they are known for their Rieslings get them the hype is real... they do reds but I only recommend the Le Petit Corporal of course it's $36 but it's excellent. The rose' is lovely and their sparkling is excellent to have on hand. The person who will probably guide you will have a lot of wine knowledge meaning they worked for major vineyards, was a wine maker or went to UC Davis and knows their stuff. The upstairs has another small tasting area, lots of wines and info on their awards. They also sell large format bottles. If you like sweet wines this is not your place this is for more serious palates but I think everyone can find something they will like for themselves or as gifts. Their Rieslings have been voted on by Wine Spectator and The NY Times just recently hailed the 2017 Rieslings. It's true seriously.. give them a visit, a nice view, good wines and parking. FYI it's on a slope so be aware. Give it a shot. read more

I was with a group of yelpers when we stopped into Ravines for a private wine tasting. The woman doing our tasting was so knowledgeable, her resume was pretty impressive. She didn't want to brag though, she said she does all she does because she loves wine. She taught us how to hold a glass, swirl the wine, and clean out our glasses. All of the wines tried were quite tasty except I was not a fan of any of the reds. Ayre was by far my favorite, I bought a bottle. The property was very pretty. Had a great view of the V on Keuka. This was our second stop (after McGregor) on our wine tour around Keuka Lake. We loved the wines at Ravines! The views were really good as well. Our server, Carolyn, was extremely knowledgeable about the wines, and kept my wife and I entertained during the tasting. Carolyn definitely knows her stuff and is super fun to talk with! The only drawbacks I can think of is that there didn't appear to be any deck with chairs to drink a glass and watch the lake. There is an area in front of the building that had a canopy/tent, but I did not explore that to see if it was a special event area or a spot to relax. read more

Love love love Ravines...always one of my favorite wineries on Keuka! This stop we noticed they had a kitchen open on the lower level with seating. We decided to pop in for a wine tasting then grab something to eat with a glass of wine..they were PACKED..as they should be. But we were greeted and served promptly. The wine tastings run smoothly and they offer 3 different options, a cheese or chocolate pairing or a regular wine tasting. Their wines are exquisite, they offer a broad range but their Rieslings are truly one of my favorites and not just on the lake! Along with selling wine, they also sell the chocolate and cheese. Do yourself a favor and try the Adam's leaf chocolate. During a tasting it is shaped as a leaf but when you buy it it comes in bark form. Upon finishing our tasting and buying several bottles, we headed down stairs. You order and pay inside and a server will bring you your food and drinks. It is a great little addition to ravines, perfect for when you want something small and sort of fancy with a great view! read more

We visited this winery in late June. Everyone here was super nice and knowledgeable about the wine, and the wine was delicious. So delicious, in fact, that we joined their wine club. We just got their first shipment of wine and it comes with two reds and two whites, all of which are incredible. They have a great location and plenty of parking space. It may not be the best dry Riesling in the Finger Lakes, but it's the best I've had. Very high quality. Sadly, they have run out of the 2017 vintage (grab a bottle immediately if you can find it), so we bought a case of 2018, which is also fantastic, even though not quite as complex as the 2017. Do yourself a favor: taste the Ravines dry Riesling first as the standard to compare others you taste in the Finger Lakes. read more

We had a delightful day on the lake with lunch at Ardennes which deserves 6 stars and great tasting stops at Lakewood, Weimar and Anthony Road. The only "Napa Valley" event happened when we went to buy a couple of cases of the Ravine Le Petiit which is an outstanding wine. We just dropped in without a reservation and asked if we could also buy a bottle to open and have a glass on the empty outdoor seating area at 11:30 in the morning. This caused major distress for the staff who had to "consult with the manager" and we finally just left when their deliberations went on for far too long. If you like dry wines, you will love this place. The Sauvignon Blanc was tried is truly excellent, one of the best I've ever had (and I don't even really like Sauv Blancs), and we enjoyed the rieslings and chardonnay and the cab franc. But the thing that really sold me on this place was the *incredibly* friendly service. We got here very close to closing-time, and the gentleman serving us said that they would stay open later if guests wanted to do a tasting and that they pride themselves on treating us the way they themselves would like to be treated. Well--they truly did--and we had an amazing time here. The view from the tasting bar and from the outdoor seating is one of the best we experienced at any Finger Lakes winery! One of the better wineries in the Finger Lakes, and probably the best winery on the east side of Keuka Lake. There are really no 'bad' wines here, and their chardonnay is probably the best made in the region. It's made with grapes that have been parially dried before pressing, which makes for a much fuller body chard than you'd expect in the Finger Lakes. Even at nearly $17/bottle, it's a steal! It's actually a lot like a good French Montrachet, and those start at $100/bottle. They even make a Provencale-style dry rose that's quite nice. The Pinot Noir, however, was a bit of a disappointment, due to the weakness of flavor (a common trait amongst Finger Lakes pinots, it seems), even though they go to the extraordinary step of actually passing each sample through an aerator as they pour it. The flavor is nice, it's just too weak-aerating won't help it! My biggest gripe about the tasting room (aside from the steep uphill hike to get in), is that they offer both a simple tasting (5 wines, $2) as well as a wine and cheese pairing (5 for $5), but they offer them at the same tasting bars, which means that the pourer is spending waaay too much time on the cheeseheads, and leaving everybody else hanging. If you visit, look to see who's having cheese served, and AVOID that bar. read more

I would say this is one of the "fancier" wineries we visited over Memorial Day weekend. There is a lot of space in the building for different groups to taste, which was nice. At some wineries there isn't a lot of room and you feel a little rushed or crowded, but not here. They had a door open outside where one group was tasting, which is great for the nice days. Our guide was very friendly and knew a lot about the wines. Some of them were very good and I bought a few bottles here. Another bonus is that their snack crackers provided at the tasting table were absolutely delicious. read more
