Terrible!!! I've been a customer over 30yrs. I called for a price and when i got there it was more money. And it wasn't even the same item on the receipt. The cashier went and spoke to someone and came back to say, "well, thats the price." So i asked for my money back. The cashier never knows the price of anything!!!! And there wasnt anyone to help customers. Management was too "busy" to even address it. So nope!!! read more

Been going there for years, was there today and had a rude sales person, she did not have a mask on and when I ask her about she claimed she did didn't have to due to breathing issue. Maybe she should not be center stage in the store. But I should thank her. I went home and found everything I would of got next time on line and for cheaper. I try very hard to buy local. As Director of a Nature Center, I was looking to buy bird feed in bulk for a fundraiser. Ryan was super helpful and gave us a great price. Used them for a few years (I.e., I spent a lot of money there). Up until last week. I went in and bought 5 CASES of suet. It's a bit of a drive for me and after ordering, asked if I could use their bathroom. The rude young girl behind the counter said no, then proceeded to talk condescendingly to me, like she was on some kind of power trip. I asked where the closest restroom was, she mentioned a restaurant a drive away. I walk out, go to start my car, dead. I go back in ask to PLEASE let me use the bathroom before I deal with car. I'm told Supervisor doesn't allow because of drug users. I ask if they could please ask Supervisor since I am a regular customer and clearly not a drug user, and I 'm stuck at this point. She sends the employee out with the excuse that it's being cleaned. Of course I lose it at this point and call her out on her lie. She then starts yelling at me that there is bathroom right next door at the plant center. Seriously!? NEVER going back there again. BTW, the plant store was AMAZING and no longer owned by the same people as the pet store. I will be leaving them a RAVE review. PS- while I was waiting for the tow truck they came out and checked to see if I was sitting in my car at least twice, I'm convinced they would've had me towed had I left my car there. I know, I know, pet shops are pet shops but this place is dark (poor lighting), filthy and it stinks. The employees often stand around talking to each other. They should pick up a rag and clean something. Also, the cash register doesn't itemize anything. As you are being rung up, the total gets higher but you don't know how much you actually paid for anything. The receipt just has a TOTAL. Good luck bringing something back. So aside from not knowing how much you ACTUALLY paid for an item and feeling like you need to take a shower when you leave, this place is great. read more

This has by far the best assortment of pet products and pet supplies in the area. It is definitely the place to go if you are the main source of support for the birds in your area. Their suet bars are so delectable (and affordable) that one of these days I'm going to try spreading one on a cracker myself. It is one of the few places, if not the only place, in the whole county where you can get the Science Diet brand for dogs and cats. It also has a better assortment of bird seed, and feeders, than can be had almost anywhere (though the Calicoon Agway isn't bad either). Next door is the local Agway, which seems to be under common ownership, and is similarly loaded with ample stock and values. PS I just wanted to point out that they've adjusted the price of their bird-feeding suet, so that buying 12 of them costs more per suet than buying 11. WTF? In tribute to their idiotic mathematics, I'm doing some mathematics of my own and deducting one star. read more

In response to the other post Sir, you should speak with Bob the owner as I was referred to Agway and Bob the owner by my fiance a few years back. We both have German Shepherds and Bob and from my experience every staff member he has has "always" answered my questions for what was best for my girl Kayla. Moreover, when they were temporary out of her food they asked me a few questions and educated why the same brand but different ingredients was perfect for her at this time. Please note this was not Bob but one of his staff, however, I got the gut feeling Bob had passed all his knowledge to him and then some. In relation to the bird food pricing you mentioned there could be several reasons and knowing Bob he would make it right as this business is all about placing the customer's needs above their own. I have watched Bob give pet treats and supplies to others and myself on numerous instances to show his appreciation as Bob values his clients and their pets. And as far as advice I have witnessed Bob go from advising a customer on the phone to then to another subject for a customer waiting in the store patiently for Bob's expertise. I live in Roscoe NY which is a good twenty minutes from Bob's store and gladly drive the distance just for the knowledge they possess. Price is secondary to me as let's face it how much would I, you, or others save by driving to Walmart or any other store. My first couple experience's there were friendly, however when a situation arose with one of their products i called for help & had a employee who was very helpful in resolving my issue' . however when going their i dealt with a ""so-called "" Female Mgr. Markie B who was ""obnoxious"" !!!!! If that was infact her real name??? All because of a employee's name i was semi incorrect with She was rude &""obnoxious"" !!!!! To where i asked for another employee who mentioned the person's name i dealt with on phone correctly//! As i only got half of the person's name I Spoke with on phone . The ""so -called Mgr"". // was informed i did not hear well! But , Just continuously stated they had no one there with that name basically, "Mocking me" trying to make me look like some type of fool in front of other people in the store. To where she knew who i was talking about!! But refused to just stated we don't have a ____ working here, but we do have a **** working here, "could that be who you are referring to"? But did not ""very unprofessional""// the {{{regular employee was more respectful & courteous in helping & resolved the issue}}} within a matter of seconds where as the""so -called Mgr"". Was just being a totally rude obnoxious""person// making a mockery of the situation ! Reason i gave 3 stars Is because of the other employee's help as far as the Manager??0 star. Well today I called to see if they had any ball pythons I was specifically looking for an albino or bel, the girl I spoke to (she didn't state her name) then listed the python morphs that she had at the shop. She then stated that she couldn't sell the pinstripe albino or calico pinstripe because they still need to eat a couple more times. So then I made my way out there which is a 30-35 minute drive, once we arrived we headed to look at the snakes . We noticed on the tank they had not for sale and then there is on hold written next to the albino pinstripe and calico pinstripe, I went to ask the girl at the counter if maybe it states "on hold" because they have to feed still. Well the girl at the counter stated that they were on hold for an employee because she was thinking about purchasing them.My boyfriend then asked if they had put any money down because we would like to put he the snake in full right now cash. She then went to go ask the female employee, we went back to the snake area and waited. We were waiting for a couple of minutes, when a girl walked over and started talking to an employee that was cleaning tanks, if I didn't regularly go into the pet store I wouldn't have know that she was an employee. I then had to ask her what was going on with the snakes and she told me that the only snakes that were available were the black pastel and the yellow belly enchi. She then rudely rolled her started talking to another employee and acted liked like we weren't even there. I then was fed up and walked out, my boyfriend then asked the girl at the counter if that was the girl that wanted the snakes, she said yes. He then asked her again if she had put down any money for the snake and she said I really don't think so. Like I get that employee's have "first pick" but I think it's really bad for business that number one, you should have told me on the phone that they were on hold OR only told me the morphs of the snakes that were available. Number two if your employees have "first pick" they should have to put down a fee just like you and I would have to. We had cash money on hand to purchase that snake in full, the whole situation was frustrating. Needless to say they will not have my business anymore. read more

Have known Bob and shopped Agway Pet for about 20 years. All the while our children were growing up (now aged 37,30, 30. 26 and 20) . We have survived (with Bob's help) countless dogs, cats, fish, turtles, birds, hamsters, lizards, hermit crabs and even the kids. The staff through the years have always been very helpful and patient, and Bob, haha he has been there with us every step of the way supplying knowledge and his own brand of humor. Though we retired and moved to Florida we always enjoy stopping by and checking out our (still) favorite pet store. You can always place your trust in Bob. read more

Great selection of different quality dog and cat foods. You decide how high you want the quality of the food to be. Very friendly staff and helpful in carrying heavy bags to the car, too. Never had an issue returning any item except an open food bag which they can't use for safety reasons for their pets in the store. I'm never coming back here again. I live in Liberty but I'll drive out to the monticello farm and garden instead. I'm an essential worker working overnight shifts. That means anything I have to do during the day means no sleep for me. I call ahead and ask Ryan if they have super worms. "Oh yeah, we have tons". Me, "Great, can you bag me up 2 dozen and I'll be right there". Ryan, "I can't pre bag them but we definitely have plenty so just come in". Me, "okay, I'll be there in a few". I get there wait in line and when I ask for super worms I'm told, "We don't have any". I tell them I just spoke to a guy there that said you guys have tons of them. The one girl turns to the other and says, "Ryan really needs to start looking first before he tells people we have things". Really?!?! Yeah no sh!t Ryan! Thanks for being essentially useless. Good job. Not even a sorry from your employees. I guess nobody at this location cares about the customer. read more

The products they carry have gotten better in the past couple of years, with more emphasis on health, at least in the dog arena. The employees are helpful and the prices are okay. All in all, it's a thumbs-up. read more

Friendly staff, never pushy... They allow you to browse as long as you want and answer all your questions. They have a good selection of pets, all different types, (even if I personally wouldn't buy a cat or dog from a pet shop--so many adoptable shelter pets are available!) We've bought fish, a hamster, and they have a nice selection of supplies in all different price ranges. I give Agway Pet Center a two paws up rating! read more

My son bought 6 fish, and one died, the 5 other fish are ok. When he brought the dead fish in, the sales associate refused to give him a replacement fish as Bob said he would. I am disappointed by this, and now no longer a customer. read more
