I showed up at the exact time, but the florist just started working on it. It was done last minute and it was about 35 minutes late. 2. The flowers I got didn't match the picture as advertised. My fiance had purchased the most beautiful rose bouquets from Ah Sam's a couple months back when he proposed to me. They lasted about about 4 weeks and we were so pleased with the quality and how long they stayed for. So when Valentine's Day came around, he decided to naturally choose Ah Sam's again for a bouquet. I ended up going with him as he wanted me to choose the color this time and see all the varieties (I'm a big flower girlie). They were obviously busy with it being Valentine's Day, I chose a bouquet that was on the floor displayed. I ended up wanting it in a small arrangement because the vase they were in was extremely large with a lot of extra not necessary greenery. Of which they happily downsized the vase. The two down sides were that we actually brought back the 2 large vases that were used for the proposal to downsize. They didn't even consider giving a slight discount for returning the vases and better yet, when we asked them to downsize the bouquet we got, the worker said the price would remain the same at $250. I let all of this slide and accepted the new downsized roses at that price and allowed them to take the two larger vases off of our hands. Sadly lees then a week later, these $250 downsized roses have completed wilted & are dying. A much different experience compared to the gorgeous roses I had received during my proposal. Over all very disappointed in how they handled the vase swap and rose downsizing with no thought into maybe giving us a slight discount. But now with the roses already dying just a week later, I would find better quality roses at my local Trader Joe's for $15 a bouquet. read more

I ordered a table decoration for the dining room. It was not inexpensive (flowers are just expensive), but it was the only arrangement I really liked when I checked other vendors, and I couldn't do it myself. I ordered it on a Friday night, it arrived the next morning promptly and courteously, and I am thrilled with the result! It will carry me through the holidays, and I enjoy looking at it every day. This florist has been around for yearrrrsss! My mom used to talk about how famous this place is as they made arrangements for the stars, royalty, dignitaries and the SF elite ...then she would mention "you know your dad didn't have much money but he would try to impress me and buy flowers from Ah Sam when we were courting (back in the late 60s!)" ...I guess it worked as mom "allowed" him (mom's words) to drive from Stockton to SF to visit her every other weekend. :) 50 years later this place is still around and makes beautiful arrangements. Placed my order on a Weds for a Fri delivery, received email confirm and was charged. Sat afternoon learned from recipient that it was never delivered. I had received no alert of any issue. Sat late afternoon - granted, store was closed - I left a voicemail and sent an email checking in. No response. Late Monday am, I called to inquire. (Mind you, the store didn't respond to email/vm first). Was told it would delivered asap - no apology nor explanation, sounded like they were caught unaware. What if I hadn't called? My husband bought me a tropical floral at Ah Sam's arrangement for our anniversary recently which included red ginger and protea. I am from Hawaii and am very familiar with these flowers and they are hardy and last a long time. The Red Ginger in the arrangement was old and died with a day. The Protea was old and died a few days later. I expected better from Ah Sam. Maybe Ok for a funeral arrangement that doesn't need to last more than a day, but an Anniversary arrangement? Son and friend needed a last minute Wristlet for prom. They learned their lesson that these things need to be preordered. Went to multiple places with no luck. One place downtown San Mateo wanted $85 for an rushed order!!?? For a wristlet!? Called AhSam and they had a few premade ones left. Rushed over and was able to the last few they had. I love this florist as they played a large part in my family history! My grandmother, Freda O'Brien worked at Ah Sam's for many years. Her husband, Daniel O'Brien was the Assistant Fire Chief of Hillsboro Fire Department and they lived in the fire house. She was so talented in arranging & decorating, which she taught to my mother & passed down to me. We still have some unique ceramic items she bought from the store. Over the years their prices have SOARED, and the quality has declined. We ordered a wrist corsage for $70. Supposed to get three baby roses on the wrist corsage with rhinestones and a blue ribbon on my son picked up was roses. It look like they're about to die fully opened brown around the edges. I called and said we were dissatisfied. Eli was awesome and said she'd fix us a new one my husband, someone to pick it back up. I had the best experience here. The workers were so kind and warm. When I walked in, I noticed the beautiful ambiance. Was it the smell of fresh petals? Was it the decadent table assortments? The lady noticed that I was in love with the store and said that I could take pictures there for my event. So I did. I had previously given Ah Sam a one star review because I ordered a $175 bouquet but they sent me a $75 bouquet. We called them and told them that our bouquet looked drastically different than the one we ordered and the employee informed us this bouquet was sent on accident. They said they would send us a new bouquet that matched the description we ordered. A couple of hours later, the delivery person came into my office and gave me a new bouquet. He also let me pick some flowers from the previous bouquet that I liked, and it ended up looking much more like the original photo. I was pleased with the result, as the peonies that were in full bloom stood out and looked very vibrant with all of the new arrangements in the bouquet. The bouquet is now as big and filling as I expected it to be. I'm very happy with how they decided to handle my order, they could have said that's just how the flowers looked like in person or tried to scam us, but they admitted their mistake and were willing to give me a new bouquet. In the end, I'm happy with what came out, but I don't believe these flowers are worth almost 200 dollars. read more

I recently lost my sister and needed to order flowers for the memorial. My family and I turned to Ah SAMs because they are the nicest family and the flowers are always first class. We were not disappointed when we saw our arrangements at the church. My mom chose the open heart with the cascade of orchids and really was touched by the way they presented. My sister loved sunflowers and my basket was bright and cheerful just like my sister. The basket so happened to be the centerpiece at the alter and was kept to be used for the next day's Sunday service. My brother chose an elegant display that was truly beautiful. My mom has passed unexpectedly and I needed to order flower leis for her funeral. Due to the Covid -19 lockdown they called and tried to cancel my order. I shared with the florist that it's my moms birthday and this is the last gift I can give her. The florist said we are a family owned business and they promised to make and deliver the lei to the funeral home before the lockdown curfew. I am forever grateful for this business.
