I called several florists in the San Mateo area. I wanted to send flowers to my daughter. I live in So California so had no idea of a florist there. They were very helpful on the phone. Understood what I wanted in an arrangement. I also didn't want it in a small vase. They were the only ones I talked to that had nice 12" tall vases. They put together a beautiful bright arrangement. Extremely disappointed the arrangement didn't look anywhere close to the picture on the website. They have a disclaimer that due to availability they may substitute. I assume minimal substitution. I visited there site and picked out a lovely orchid arrangement, prepaid and all I needed to do was pick it up. When I saw them bring the arrangement, I was beyond thrilled, and blown away. What she received was a wild looking Easter basket type thing. There was a disclaimer that said they might substitute plants but this is an entirely different basket which I never would have ordered. Blooming Vase is my favorite local florist! I love to stop by the store and see the owner Susie, who is an absolute gem. In addition to flowers and plants, the store is filled with beautiful vases and decorative items for the home that look high-end without a high-end price tag. Susie must constantly be on the search for the beautiful things she sources, many of them, one of a kind. My mom discovered Blooming Vase many years ago and it has been my go to florist for at least 15 years now. Not only do I stop in to purchase things for my home, I also use their service to send arrangements and orchids/plants to friends for joyous occasions or mournful one. Susie ALWAYS knows exactly what to do. I've also used Blooming Vase for several events. They did the flowers for my sister's wedding 10 years ago and last weekend for my daughter's bat mitzvah - and the arrangements were stunning! I received so many compliments. For the bat mitzvah, Susie found the perfect rose gold vases in line with our colors and the wonderful part was at the end of the party, I was able to gift the beautiful arrangements to family and friends (including the vases). While I really had no idea about pricing, I did have a maximum budget in mind. We had a lot going on, from flowers for the bimah at Temple (which we were able to repurpose and use for the reception), to table centerpieces, the buffet and other areas around the reception venue. We had an overall idea of what we wanted and had a pretty brief discussion (appreciate that!) with Susie who is very familiar with the temple as well as the reception venue as she does many events at both locations. She knew exactly what we needed and followed up by sending some photo ideas based on our colors. I chose a couple of them with some additional thoughts, Susie made some adjustments, and I left the rest to her. The original price quoted was a little beyond what I was prepared to spend, so I let her know that, and without hesitation, she made some adjustments and reached a level I was comfortable with. Honestly, I am not sure what was even reduced because the arrangements were abundant, gorgeous and beyond what I expected (although my expectations were somewhat high because I know her work!). When I walked into Temple and the reception afterwards, i was absolutely STUNNED with the outcome. Simply gorgeous! Susie made the entire process so easy for me by her knowledge of the venues, what we needed and where, clear and responsive communication, sourcing the beautiful vases, working with us on the budget, and then delivering the arrangements to both locations with status updates that reassured me Everything was getting done. I HIGHLY recommend Blooming Vase. So easy to work with! Be frank about your budget and requirements and Susie will work with you to achieve your dream floral arrangements. Whether you know exactly what you want or have no clue, I have no doubt you will be blown away by the results. read more
