Open late most nights, this place is a popular hang out, especially for middle eastern young adults. They offer more than 25 flavors of hookah, and their tabaccos are 100% natural with absolutely no tar or chemicals. The place is pretty small, so sometimes you won't be able to get a seat and have to come back at a later time, or on a different night. But nonetheless, if you get the chance, you should check it out. There's a cool vibe and the people are pretty cool as well. My favorite flavor is mint and double apple. Great alternative place in the city to hang out, smoke and chill. Hookah is smooth and tasty (had the watermelon-mint combo which was perfect). The owner is kind and accommodating; he gave us water, and since we were the only ones there at the time, he let us play hip-hop in the background. Keep in mind that it's cash only, but the upside is that it's super cheap. Can't complain about splitting a $20 bill (sans tea) amongst a small group of friends. Love, Love, Love this little hookah spot. The owner (I think he was) an older gentleman was super friendly and went really above and beyond for us, out of town Portland folks. The vibe is casual and cozy. We were dressed up as the clubs and bars are about 10 mins away driving and we headed that way after. The hookah was smooth and the whole atmosphere was relaxing. Nop, not this one, definitely not this one. Like the first reviewer, the Owner and his mafia friends sit in a corner playing board games, and it REALLY does feel like you're being watched, but not at the same time. Its like they're threatening you without saying anything, all body language. The hooka was alright, by far not the greatest, and the tea was sub par as well. Thinking back now I wish I took the StarBucks in I had earlier, but I'm sure the owner would have asked me to drink it outside! I wouldn't recommend you come here. read more

Quite an interesting hookah spot, came here after work around 6pm and we were the only people inside. To be fair it was in the middle of the week and early so I can understand. Anyways you pretty much just take a seat anywhere you want, I just sat in front of a hookah that I personally liked haha. They have the generic fruit flavours everyone is used to and charge $20 per bowl which is a little steep but being downtown and all gotta pay dem high rent costs. Kinda crappy - swung by here before and it was randomly closed on regular weekday with not even a hastily made sign to explain why. On my second try, they were open. $15 for the pipe (2 people) but it didn't include tea. And the counter dude seemed annoyed we were there. And there are no washrooms here (Chevron is 6 blocks away). But it's saved from a 1-star rating for one reason only: they were playing a weird slideshow of exotic animals on the TV screen. At first it was pretty lame. But as the shitty Iranian techno played and I got more contemplative in my hookah smoking, the animal slideshow got strangely mesmerizing -- to the point where I couldn't take my eyes off of it. The shit was hypnotic -- smoking hookah and looking at pictures of jaguars and eagles put me in a weird trance... until the hookah started tasting like shit. Oh well. read more

Although the space is small it was serviced by Abbas the owner who was friendly and open. The hookah flavor are limited but the conversation with him was very stimulating. I would definitely reccomend stopping in for a hookah and with an open mind. read more

This place is a bit pricey at $20/hookah, but the owner is very friendly and the place had great atmosphere. A cozy room on a street corner, right next to a little grocery mart. The walls are covered, floor to ceiling, with beautiful Persian art and ambient light fixtures. The hookahs served here have electronic devices on top, not charcoal, and have a very mellow flavor. Besides a very small fridge on the wall of juice/soda, there are no foods/drinks, unfortunately. The owner was kind enough to give us bottles of water with our hookah though. read more

I hate how this place lacks a bathroom, as I have to walk all the way to the nearest subway to use the wc and sometimes it is closed. What I hate even more about this place is how it's closed on some random days without warning even though I always check the store hours. This disappointed me several times, as I took a 40 minute skytrain trip just to come here and found the place to be closed when it should be open. The owner of Ahwaz can sometimes be unfriendly and the small space of the store makes this so much more awkward. I've definitely had much better hookah than what it served here, but I can't really complain keeping in mind that it is nicotine free and supposedly 'natural'. I may come back one day. Jk I probably won't. Go to Persian Tea House instead. read more
