Cacio e Pepe with figs. Yes, figs.
    Dan W.

Went to Ai Bozzi on recommendation of local chef. GREAT recommendation. To star, we arrived shortly before the end of their lunch hours (about 2:45). They could have easily turned us away or provide crappy service. Instead, they sat us quickly and provided for our every need. We ordered their Tuna Tartar to start, which was incredible. A massive pile of fresh tuna, complimented by a duo of sauces drizzled about the plate. My wife had tagliatelle with a red sauce, but the highlight of the meal was my Cacio e Pepe with Fig. I was concerned that the sweetness of the figs would fight with the cheese sauce, but that's why I'm not a chef.... I was soooo wrong! I found myself seeking bites of the delicious fresh figs to round out the creamy, peppery sauce. Oh, and that tonnarello? LEGIT. Such a great texture and mouthfeel. One of the best pasta dishes ever! It was now well past 3 (closer to 4) and the waiter still offered us desert and coffee. Unfortunately, could not eat another bite! We'll be back.

Not quite sure what it was called but it was an egg with truffle sauce and Guanciale. Amazing. I would die to bring this home

Spent 11 days here in Italy and this was by far the most authentic and best meal we had while we've been here. Would recommend 100%

    Gnocchi cacho y Pepe

We loved this place! At first we were alittle concerned because the restaurant next door was more full and lively but we were more than satisfied. Every dish was delicious, but the taste wasn't the only thing that impressed. The presentation was thoughtful and the dishes were creative. They did a spin on cacio e Pepe with gnocchi instead of spaghetti. Calamari stuffed with the local specialities of artichokes and tomatoes was a visually appealing treat. The wait staff was also very helpful with ordering and steered us in the right direction. Overall definitely a great place to enjoy a meal with good company.

Vino Rosso Della Casa at Ai Bozzi Da Giovanni

Incredible Birthday dinner in the Trastevere neighborhood! We sat on their patio overlooking a really cool cobblestone street. This patio was very lively because there is a wine bar across the street and another restaurant next to it, also with a lively patio. As a result, the energy was great here. We ordered the Vino rosso della casa (Red wine of the house). It was absolutely delicious!! and very inexpensive. With our wine, our waiter brought out a dish of soft, warm focaccia bread. mmmm.... For our appetizer, we ordered the antipasto misto della casa. This dish had a variety of very unique seafood items involving salmon, squid and cheese. Each item was fresh and delicious. My primi tonight was the rissoto crema di scampi e tartufo. It was a large shallow bowl of rissoto in a pink creamy sauce with skinny shellfish parts. Soooo good. My wife's primi was gnocchi calamaretti e porchini. it was a bowl of small gnocchi with a variety of shellfish in a tomato based sauce and parsley sprinkled over the top. The gnocchi were soft and amazingly delicious. She ate the whole thing! I mean...it took her a while, but she did eat the whole thing. We shared a secondi out of curiosity more than anything else. Not that we needed another dish, but it was my wife's birthday, so- it was celebration eating. We got a bistecca di manzo donese. It was a medium rare thin piece of steak served with lettuce, cherry tomatoes and a lemon on the side. We also ordered a side dish of vegetables that wound up being snow peas cooked with tomatoes. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and was absolutely delicious. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu, of course. It was so decadent! We also ordered an espresso, which was very strong!

This is the best seafood mix, white house wine and tiramisu ever. Excellent staff. We arrived at 19:30 and it was empty place, but 1/2 an hour after, it was full. We recommend to reserve

Nice place, everything fresh and homemade. You get what you order, nothing fancy or trying to style it up. Basic homemade Italien food.

We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

We shared the fried calamari and anchovy appetizer, which tasted fresh. I had the lasagna and it was excellent. My wife got the ravioli and really liked it she said it was a unique and tasty dish. For dessert we shared the Crème Catalana. The server brought it out and torched the sugar right at the table, which was fun to watch and tasted perfect. Great food and genuinely exceptional service. Would definitely return.

Our family of four was waiting to be seated when a local family of four arrived after us and was seated immediately. We were eventually seated right next to them, and they were served bread while we were ignored and received none. We ordered wine that was never brought to the table, and at one point a waiter who was not even serving us removed our wine glasses after we had already ordered the wine. The service throughout the meal was chaotic and rude. The artichoke dish was extremely bland -- no seasoning and no flavor at all. Most of the food was greasy and disappointing. To make matters worse, we were seated directly next to the kitchen where the cooks and waiters were loudly arguing throughout our meal. We understand that service in Italy is often slower and more relaxed, and we have enjoyed wonderful hospitality everywhere else during our trip. However, this was by far the worst service we experienced anywhere in Italy. We were even asked if we wanted the bill before we had finished eating, while the local family next to us remained seated comfortably long after finishing their meal. We left feeling unwelcome and discriminated against. Unfortunately, this restaurant seemed interested only in serving locals well. If you are not Italian, do yourself a favor and dine elsewhere. We absolutely do not recommend this place.

We split a salad that was big enough for a meal, my wife had the bolognese, and I had the steak. It was super rare, but as I cut into it, I would lay it onto the stone to allow it to cook a bit more. I like it on the lean side of medium rare and my wife prefers a bit more. This was perfect for us to both enjoy it the way we like. Her pasta was excellent as well and we enjoyed sharing the meal. A bottle of wine topped off a great dinner. The weather was rainy so we opted to sit inside and it was warm and welcoming. Our waiter was helpful with our choices and we enjoyed his observations. The only thing I can say that was off, was the older woman who was paying her bill before me was pressured into leaving a tip ( service charge, is what he said). I was prepared for that but was not asked to tip. Great meal, we enjoyed it immensely, but the service charge that was scammed out of the 70+ year old lady in front of me kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. I was going to tip a few euros because we enjoyed ourselves so much, but decided not to because of the way it was presented to the party before us.

We had a calzone and traditional spaghetti and both were delicious. I don't even know how to describe the calzone. It was unlike anything I've had before but SO good. I literally cleaned my plate with the last of the breading from it. The owner/chef was Luca. He was upset with the host because he had burned the plastic on the outdoor tent as he had placed a heater too close to it. To be honest, he seemed like a bit of a jerk, but his food was freaking delicious.

It is a large restaurant and was full of lively patrons. The indoor decor is warm and inviting. The first thing I noticed was the camaraderie between the waitstaff - everyone seemed to get along, helped each other and were having fun. We had 2 wonderful Filipino waiters. One had the same Ray-Ban meta glasses as my husband, which they bonded over. We ordered the bombolotti carbonara and lasagna-both delicious. For the mains, grilled Turbot (which was perfectly de-boned tableside) and meatballs w/ mashed potatoes. While the waiter was de-boning the fish, the song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver came on overhead. My husband and I both looked at each other and smiled, thinking WTH?! I asked the waiter, "did we tell you we were from West Virginia?" and he smiled and shook his head. But later confessed, he played it for us (I guess we did tell him, lol). It made our night. Rome was the last city in our multi-city 12 day tour and we loved every minute but we were looking forward to going home. Hearing "Country Roads" at a popular and busy restaurant a block away from the Spanish Steps blew our minds. A young couple sat next to us for a quick snack, I asked her what she ordered (it looked delicious) and she said "Im from a different part of Italy but come here just for their artichokes". A few minutes later, I saw a plate full of artichokes pass by, being brought to a table outside. They made my mouth water. Al 34 was one of our favorite restaurants in Italy -- wonderful food (extensive menu), very lively with a mixed crowd (lots of Asians, English speakers and native Italians). It is a fun place to go and the wait staff is one of the reasons I will be coming back. I cant wait to try their artichokes! If you see the word, carciofo (artichoke), order it!
