Sausage is very tasty, but I found large bone fragments in chicken sausage. Beware !

Great bay area sausage company, you can buy their products at many supermarkets chains. I'd often visit the food stand at the Ferry Plaza farmers market to check/ sample some of their latest sausage creations http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/aidells-sausage-company-san-leandro?userid=8Ces6YdT6j7BYycnZLrSng#mYeq7v20ImjcMkZ5V2TklA or get a cup of the delicious black bean chili, http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/aidells-sausage-company-san-leandro?select=sh7T0pZSHwTlcRdJpVe1Tw#sh7T0pZSHwTlcRdJpVe1Tw not available elsewhere. The company remains, but the food stand's last day at this market was yesterday. All revenue was donated to the American Red Cross, so I was happy to patronize them one last time. I ordered a New Mexico sausage - chicken and turkey with peppers ($5.50). http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/aidells-sausage-company-san-leandro?select=LW-PMyqu6eU_INA6l8946w#LW-PMyqu6eU_INA6l8946w I hope that they can setup another food stand someplace else soon.

Not a huge fan of the chicken and apple sausage, another Costco staple, wish they carried more flavors.

After a day of running errands, my brother was giving me a ride home when he says, "I need to get…read moresome flatbread..." I remembered a place on Jackson Street that I had gone to 5 years ago that had a tremendous selection - looked it up on Yelp and it was no longer on Jackson, but was listed in Castro Valley. So we went thought we'd go by and give it a try. Great decision! The "new" store in Castro Valley is much brighter, cleaner, nicer than the old location. I think the old location had more stuff from Eastern Europe, but this new location seems to have a broader selection, with more stuff from Western Europe and the Middle East. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and helpful - always willing to answer questions and even give tips on how to use the products that they sell. And his recommendations have been great - we asked him about which tahini and zaatar to get (they have many different brands/types of each...) and the ones he recommended have been way tastier than any of the brands that you find in most markets. Especially good was his recommendation on lebnah - he said that the brands they carry are all good, but they have some that they package in-house that was special. I tried it - it was less expensive than the other brands, but was the very best lebnah that I have ever tasted! Richer, creamier, with just the right amount of tang. Wonderful stuff! Anyway, Crossroads is a nice, clean, well-lit place with a great selection of unique products, and friendly, knowledgeable sales staff. Well worth a trip!

After living in San Leandro for nearly 30 years, I finally stepped inside Galvin's Market and I am…read moreso glad I did. I have driven past it countless times without stopping, but this place is truly a hidden gem. From the moment you walk in, it feels inviting: clean, bright, and well organized. They have everything from meats, seafood, cheeses, and pastas to sandwiches and specialty groceries. There is also free parking in the back (90 minutes), which makes the visit stress-free. On this visit, I picked up a little bit of everything: The Hot Salami Sandwich (see photo) was incredible. Piled high with meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, oil, vinegar, and oregano. The oregano sealed the deal. It was one of the best sandwiches I have had in years. Cheese counter. They stock amazing selections such as Midnight Moon, Goat Gouda, and Prosciutto di Parma. I also grabbed a slice of Italian head cheese (photo). It was not quite as bold as the souse meat I grew up with, but it is delicious with crackers. Smoked Salmon. Sourced from Alaska, melt-in-your-mouth fresh and flavorful (photo included). You can tell they take seafood seriously. Mary's Organic Chicken Wings. The real MVP of my haul. I was thrilled to get two pounds of all flats (photo before and after cooking). I baked them at home, and they came out crispy, flavorful, and juicy. The aisles were stocked with pastas, sauces, and pantry goods, making it feel like a one-stop shop for both everyday items and specialty finds. Between the quality of the food, the thoughtful touches such as honoring my all-flats wing request, and the genuine neighborhood market vibe, Galvin's has officially earned a spot on my regular rotation. If you are in San Leandro and have not stopped by yet, do yourself a favor. Whether you are grabbing lunch, stocking up on meats and seafood, or exploring the cheese counter, Galvin's Market is worth the trip. Highly recommend!
