One of my favorite spots in San Leandro. Paradiso is an upscale fine dining restaurant with all the bells and whistles. Incredible menu selection for all you picky eats and how you wanted to be prepared or addressed. THOMAS our serve did an incredible serving us during lunch on the weekends. He was super friendly, respectful, great attitude, smile and fulfilled our demands with ease. He's one of the best waiters Paradiso has! Bring your date, family, friends, and some money. I highly recommend checking this spot for your next special meal!
Thank you for accommodating all our requests Drove in to have early dinner after graduation at Cal before heading for flight at the airport Food is delicious and beautifully plated Portions are very good We ended up ordering 6 appetizer, soup, salad and 5 entrees to share family style and still couldn't finish it all with 8 hungry adults. Dishes were all so flavorful and hearty The roasted beet salad was wonderful as was the lamb chops Cioppino had so much seafood Great for the milder palates since it did not have the pepper Prime rib rigatoni was so delicious and filling. Glad we shared it! Large tables available for larger parties too. Kid friendly. Draw on the table
Came in at about 3pm with family for an early dinner. The restaurant is modern, yet cozy. The food itself was fine, but am unsure of the value given the price point considering this was the "brunch" menu. The plates averaged $35, the calamari was $27. Additionally, the service had some misses -- some items were forgotten or needed reminders, so we just decided to not bother to ask so that we didn't delay eating. I'm unsure if we'd visit again, but love that this is a San Leandro staple.
Came in on a Sunday night for dinner at about 6:30, we were sat within 5 to10 mins of arrival. The staff bought over bread and water pretty fast. We ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon that was recommended by the wine guy. It was pretty good. Calamari Fritti with Gremolata, & Chipotle Aioli was perfectly made. Crispy Brussels Sprouts with Aged 24 Month Reggiano Parmesan & Calabrian Chili Aioli was tasty. Ribeye with Olive Oil Mashed Potatoes, Chimichurri Roasted Vegetables, Italian Gorgonzola, Garlic & Herb Butter was good but way under cooked. Filet Mignin with Olive Oil Mashed Potatoes, Citrus Glazed Asparagus, Caramelized Shallot & Woodford Reserve Reduction was good and cooked perfectly. King Cut Prime Rib with Loaded Baked Potato, Chimichurri Vegetables, Au Jus & Fresh Horseradish was good seasoned well but over cooked. I wish they would of came and told me that they didn't have anymore medium rare cuts, instead of just bringing me a medium well piece. It still had a little red in the middle but not what I wanted. From prime rib its easy to tell that you are out of a medium rare cut. Its hard to send back when the people you are with has their food and you cant make them wait. That is the reason for the 3 stars!!!
2025: Pretty decent prices for Valentine's Pre fix menu. Everywhere would be up there during this kind of time. Food was not bad. Dessert was really yummy though. Wished they used a different fish though, but I ordered it cuz I wanted to try. This place is really narrow, and a bit uncomfortable when trying to get in & out, but maybe it was just because it was crowded on this day. I would definitely come back & try their regular menu in the future.
Celebrating International Women's Day at Paradiso My husband and one of my sons took me to Paradiso in San Leandro to celebrate International Women's Day, which already made the evening special. What I didn't expect was how much the experience had improved since our last visit. The previous time we dined here, the wait for food after ordering was close to 40 minutes, which felt long -- especially when you're not ordering appetizers or drinks to fill the time. Because of that experience, I wasn't sure what to expect this time. Fast forward to this visit: we had a 7:00 PM reservation but were coming back from San Francisco traffic (and if you know, you know). I called last minute to ask if we could move it about 15 minutes. The staff kindly told us not to worry -- they would hold the table between 7:15 and 7:45 and simply seat us when we arrived. That's customer service. When we walked in, the restaurant felt just as beautiful as I remembered -- the red carpet entry, high industrial ceilings, warm lighting, and that incredible restaurant aroma that immediately makes you hungry. We checked in and were seated right away. Within two minutes, our server took our drink order, and drinks arrived within about three minutes. The service pace was noticeably different from our last visit -- smooth, attentive, and efficient. We started with the focaccia bread (you do have to request it) and a Caesar salad that was honestly one of the best Caesar salads I've ever had. No photos were taken because by that point we were absolutely starving -- our fault for waiting all day to eat. We probably looked like grazing animals. For dinner: * I ordered the 12 oz steamed lobster * My husband had the Mary's half chicken * My son ordered the 8 oz filet, medium Yes, medium. I know what some of you are thinking! He prefers it that way. The menu does mention that medium or medium-well isn't guaranteed, but the chef made the accommodation and cooked it perfectly -- a beautiful crust on the outside while still delivering the doneness he requested. My lobster was outstanding -- honestly better than what I've had at several seafood restaurants over the past couple of years. I travel quite a bit between Seattle, San Francisco, and New York, and I've had lobster at some pretty well-known places. Paradiso's version easily holds its own -- great size, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. My husband's Mary's roasted half chicken was also excellent -- two generous pieces served alongside polenta and asparagus. Simple, balanced, and done very well. Overall, this visit was a huge improvement from our last experience, and the combination of thoughtful service, great food, and a beautiful space made it a really memorable International Women's Day celebration. We'll definitely be back.

It feels modern, open, and intentionally laid out rather than crowded. Service is genuinely pleasant and attentive. Staff are consistently on the lookout for guests without being intrusive, which makes the overall experience relaxed and well-managed. Food is a mixed bag. The calamari was unfortunately far too greasy and ended up mostly untouched. On the positive side, the beet salad with arugula stood out as light, fresh, healthy, and generously portioned. The Wagyu burger was juicy and satisfying, and it comes with a generous serving of parmesan fries that easily steal some attention. Overall, Paradiso delivers on ambiance and service, with some solid food highlights, but a bit more consistency in execution would push it higher.
My friend found this restaurant on yelp. A place I never expect to be a fine dining restaurant. Located at a corner of local neighborhood with street parking. Made reservations for bday dinner. The employees are attentive. They always check on us and help us with wine selections. They brought out a free plate of bread with olive dip. Ordered calamari fritters, bolognese pasta, seafood Ciopino, crème brûlée, tiramisu, and a bottle of wine. Ciopino and bolognese pasta were delicious and the right amount of flavors. Calamari fritti were crispy and it came with an aioli sauce. We end the night sharing crème brûlée and tiramisu. It was perfect ending to the good meal. The price is a bit pricey but it is worth it. Will definitely come back to try other food. A neighbor restaurant that I would never expect to be delicious let alone it is a semi fine dining experience.
Delicious seafood linguini, not the best I've had but portion huge and seafood fresh! $44, for cioppino that is very well priced. I wanted to try this place for sooooo long, finally I did. Service was fine, I'll definitely be back. Dessert which I normally don't order was pricy and underwhelming, apple crisp.
I am surprised I don't have a review for Paradiso Restaurant as my wife and family have been coming here for years! Hmmm... A nice and elegant restaurant with a coziness atmosphere. The service is super friendly, welcoming, and welcoming. They do have a tiny lot, otherwise it's street parking mostly. The wood-fired pizzas, pasta dishes, seafood, and steaks are delicious. You will find something to enjoy!

We didn't have a reservation, but we wanted to dine at Paradiso on Saturday night. The staff welcomed us warmly and treated us with absolute care and respect. The owner personally checked on us several times, which made the experience even more special. The portions were more than generous ,we tried the steak and some cocktails, and both were excellent. The drinks were amazing, and you could tell the chef carefully selected every ingredient in the dishes. The restaurant itself was spotless, with a modern and elegant atmosphere. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. Highly Recommended
We came here on a weekend evening and were surprised at the huge line. This place was packed for the holidays and filled with groups of friends. We were seated at our reservation time of 6:15 pm, but had to wait in the front near the host stand with barely any room to stand. Not sure how that's not a fire hazard since you could barely squeeze through, and I'm sure if it weren't so cold outside most people would be standing outside. We ordered the Pineapple Express drink, the roasted Brussel sprouts for the appetizer, the Parisian Chicken, and the Roasted Manila Clams with Linguine. The food was just okay. The Brussel sprouts had a nice roast to them, but they were a little bland -- without the mayo-type sauce, it wouldn't have been very tasty at all. The chicken was a little dry and not as good as hoped, though there was plenty of sauce. The proportion of veggies and mashed potatoes to chicken was smaller than I would have hoped. The clams were also fine, but the portion of pasta was tiny, which I was surprising. The fresh bread that it came with was on the small side and did not taste fresh. Overall for the price we paid, we weren't super impressed. Our waiter was very kind and helpful though.

I was with a group of 9, for my friends birthday. We were seated on time. Water was immediately bright to our table. And a waiter followed shortly to take our drink and appetizer menu. We tried the focaccia bread for the appetizer, it was really tasty. I chose the wedge salad with shrimp and for dessert I had the banana bread pudding. Both were really good. I recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a nicer dining experience in San Leandro. read more

11/7/25 Drinks and Food overall was mixed feelings. (3) Sprite - it was just carbonated water. It was missing the sprite syrup. We let our server know and they did swap out all the beverages after confirming it was off. (2) Old fashion drinks came out a bit sweet but descent. (2) Pineapple Express cocktails were sparkling and sweet 3/5 Calamari was not on menu but we asked and was able to order it! Yay! Came out heavily battered and crispy. 3.5/5 Clam chowder was a tad runny vs thick chowder, flavor was there but felt more like a soup and didn't have too much in it. 3/5 Short rib was very pot roasty like others have said. You can taste the meat but was on salty side 3/5 chicken piccata was overall ok. Chicken was thin and citrusy with capers over mash. 3.5/5 ribeye was asked to be medium rare but came out medium. 3/5 Mary's roasted chicken was a bit dry and salty. Restaurant was super busy and a good ambiance for this area. For us, Overall 3.5/5 Food 3/5 Service 5/5 Thank you Thomas! I hadn't been to one of my trusted favorite spots(Paradiso) for a while, so we stopped on Sunday night! There is ample parking and the area is well lit! The restaurant looks very festive for the holidays! Great decision, we were quickly seated in the bar where Sunday night football was on! We settled in Quickly and enjoyed an Earl Grey Tini! I'm told it was delicious! We also enjoyed a mixed green salad, a Caesar salad and focaccia bread and garlic prawns. Everything was delicious as usual and Paradiso remains a can't miss spot for dinner and appetizers! read more

Paradiso absolutely delivered on every level. The ambience was elegant yet comfortable, making it the perfect setting for a special night out. Our waiter, Alex, was outstanding--friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel seamless. I kicked things off with a glass of bubbles (prosecco with peach schnapps), paired with their seafood arancini--crispy, flavorful risotto balls filled with crab and scallops, served over fresh bruschetta-style tomatoes. Such a great start. For the entrée, we had the seafood fettuccine, loaded with lobster, scallops, crab, and shrimp in a rich, creamy champagne sauce--decadent and perfectly balanced. The bread service was also a highlight: focaccia and Kalamata olive bread served with olive oil and balsamic for dipping. To finish, I had an espresso martini alongside a creamy crème brûlée topped with a buttery shortbread cookie--an ideal ending to an already incredible meal. It was easy to get a same-day reservation on Sunday night for six people. It was a busy restaurant, but we got seated at a high top in the back. The service was excellent and our waiter as well as several other people from the restaurant came in and checked on us. We ordered several items off the menu as well as the special corn ravioli with additional scallops, which was my favorite item from the menu. The mussels are a little bit salty so I probably wouldn't get that the next time. The seafood fettuccine was also good but a little bit watery in terms of the sauce which I wasn't expecting. The heirloom tomato salad was also a seven out of 10. The other star of the night was the burrata and beet salad. Definitely would go again for a date night dinner or girls night dinner. read more

Straight to the point..... Seafood Fettuccine and short rib hash were good....Paradiso cosmos meh, not much taste just alcohol so I didn't order the second round like I usually do We went on Sunday lunch time so it wasn't busy otherwise it would have felt cramped since tables were set very close to each other due to the limited space. I found this place after a ceremony I attended to celebrate. Everything I ordered was fresh, plentiful, and full of flavor! Their menu had so many dishes I wanted to try; it was so hard to decide! Some of the best calamari I've ever had came from this place! The service was excellent. My waitress ensured that I was taken care of. Paradiso is a great place for dates (solo and couples). If you are coming solo, there isn't a need for making a reservation! Also, they do have like a Happy Hour menu that's specifically for those that want to sit at the bar. read more

Quality/Quantity - Today we got the following: King Salmon - Single serving size, but my light eater friend was still not able to finish?!?! I think he had a huge snack prior to dinner. Braised Short Rib - Two orders. Melted in your mouth, so tender. I was impressed that my wife not only ordered this, but finished it. Ribeye Steak 14 oz - This looked more than 14oz, thank you. My usual order, but I went with the lamb today. I was really impressed that our guest finished this! The ribeye was cooked perfectly, but she said it was a little tough. Butternut Squash Ravioli - My daughter got the seasonal ravioli. Another surprise for me. I think my daughter and wife switched diets?!?! Single portion size, my daughter finished with no problems. We were all so full and all shared just one dessert. As usual, all foods were good. And we appreciated not being rushed. Ambiance - Open kitchen. Private room available, plus other sections of the restaurant that can be blocked off. Too busy and too many people today (it is the holidays) for me to take pictures. I watched you expand to next door approximately 15+ years ago. Added a bar and more seating. Special events, including wine dinner menus; see website. Sadly no more happy hours. Open 7 days a week. Service - NO waiting today. We got seated right away when we entered, this might have been the first time, lol. Our server was very patient with us. We have not seen our good friends in a long time, so it was very good to catch up. Never any pressure to leave. Price - $365 which includes an 18% gratuity. Expensive but worth it. Paradiso Restaurant located on Bancroft is serving the best Italian American food in San Leandro. Great place for a date night with a nice modern and clean ambiance. Plenty of seating is available in multiple dining areas, as well as a very large bar area. The menu is quite extensive both in the wine and cocktail selections as well as the food options. There are seasonal specials, brunch menu on the weekends, prix fixe menu in the evening, dessert menu, etc. I ordered a variety of food: 14 OZ GRILLED PRIME RIBEYE & EGGS O/D CAGE FREE ORGANIC EGGS / Crispy Sicilian Breakfast Potatoes. The steak was tender and flavorful. I had the eggs cooked sunny side up. The potatoes were cooked nicely as well. PEPPERONI & CRIMINI MUSHROOM PIZZA D/G/O San Marzano Tomato Sauce / Marinated Mozzarella Fresca. The pizza was delicious and had a very thin crust. So if you enjoy the flavor of good pizza without the extra carbs, the pizza at Paradiso pizza is perfect. RIGATONI BOLOGNESE VG/D/O Homemade Red Wine Sugo: Wagyu Beef - Veal - Italian Sausage / Reggiano Parmesan / Basil. Believe it or not, I think this my favorite dish. While all the food was good, this red sauce with meat along with the rigatoni cooked al dente was awesome. CAESAR SALAD G/S/D/VG Baby Hearts of Romaine / Focaccia Garlic Croutons/ Parmesan Cheese /Shallots /Spanish White Anchovies. This was one of the best salads I've ever had. To start off, the ambiance was beautiful. The table weren't too close, no worries about hearing other tables, and it wasn't uncomfortable. We made our reservation online & got there and we were ready to eat! We got seated and have the loveliest server. Her name is Erin M & she was super kind, sweet, respectful, and most importantly, was so patient with us. I know restaurants and get busy & want tables available but she never rushed us. The food was absolutely delicious. And the drinks were really good. I would recommend the Strawberry Basil Mocktail 10/10 We got the Arancini's to start off. Soooo good. They have a little kick to them which made the flavors even better. My partner got the seafood fettuccini, as the portions were perfect. Very filling. I got the Dungeness Crab Ravioli and it was very filling also. The crab here is honestly the best crab I've ever had. The artichoke & crab made such a great pairing. The only thing I would change is leave out the tiny bay shrimp. There are already big prawns and other quality seafood. The bay shrimp cheapen the vibe. My guy had butternut raviolis soooo good. I never knew San Leandro had such a wonderful Italian restaurant until now. Right when you walk it felt like some good things happen here. Our server was Thomas H. shout out to you, thanks for the amazing service! This was by far the best Italian food I have had in years. I can say this with a clear mind because we all tasted each others food. A Few minutes after being seated much of the bar seating was gone. Dinner in San Leandro, California... I was with my cousin and his wife who recommended that we dine at Paradiso Restaurant... okay! One good thing was that there's free metered street parking after 6pm. The interior of the restaurant was quite elegant and nicely air-conditioned! We had: Tempura Portobello Mushrooms with Chimichuri sauce, Fried oysters, Crab and Avocado Salad, rack of lamb, and scallops. Wow... fancy, right! For dessert, we shared a Peach and Blueberry Cobbler with vanilla gelato... and black cherry and chocolate gelato... it was a sweet ending to a wonderful meal! Service was top notch! I put in a large order to share with family through DoorDash. I'm on a fixed income and this is the only restaurant I will order a meal from or eat in because this restaurant still uses quality product and ingredients. Their food is fresh and delicious and it's always packaged well when I get it . The party so chicken piccata is a large chicken breast with mashed potatoes and it's generous and portions and can be shared with two people . The house made sea salt focaccia bread is very soft, very fresh with a delicious little packet of butter . Even the crème brûlée is homemade with good ingredients and is. Great Italian fare prepared authentically and so well. We ordered the Meatball sandwich, the Rigatoni. Bolognese and the Focaccia . The meatball sandwich was so tasty and yet so filling with the bread being the star to keep it so light. The pasta was prepared with great care and the sauce was light and not heavy at all. The focaccia was also very good and the cheese on it was wonderfully delicious. We also tried their ice creams- I had the vanilla which was just so wonderfully light and smooth, just the way I love it. Gotta come here more often! read more
