The two technicians showed up on time yesterday (promised 9-10 AM) after sending an "on our way" text). They recommended using the pleated filters instead of the blue fiberglass variety. He had a 20"x25" pleated filter in the truck that was a little long for our space. So, he took a pair of shears, chopped off just enough, and used the cardboard form cleared of material to put a border back on! Voila! Another service was cleaning the fins (?) on the outdoor compressor. After turning off the power outside, he used a hose to flush out the accumulated detritus in the unit. Our system is back to working great again! I had a chance to speak with one of the brother/owners, Paul, this evening, to share my feedback on the service call. Sounds like a very nice guy. Our furnace stopped working. We called Duke City, and they were able to come out same day (on a…read moreThursday). Great. They diagnosed the issue within 30 minutes and were gone within the hour. Excellent. Unfortunately, they had to order the part, which wouldn't be in until Monday. Originally, the technician stated we'd pay expedited shipping on the part but they'd be out first thing Monday morning to get the part installed. I asked the tech before he left what was the price for everything. He verbally estimated $350-$375. He said the part was cheap and the labor would be the expensive part. I wasn't given the price in writing, showing the breakdown of the costs (this was my error, I should know better. They called us Friday evening to let us know they couldn't make it Monday as they were short on technicians. So after being quoted a price WITH expedited shipping, and to the fault of the company, we waited for install- we expected that original price to go down. They came that following Wednesday, and it was fixed within 30 minutes. (This is a total of roughly 2 hours of service, generously.) Total cost $374.06, after they were nice enough to give a 5% military discount. Again, an invoice wasn't provided. However, I paid, and they were on their way. My wife immediately pointed out the math didn't add up, 2 hours of service ($85 x 2 + $55 for a part = $225 plus tax). She called after the tech left to follow up regarding the charges. I received my invoice the next morning around 8:30, as follows: $195.00 for the part (hot surface igniter) $170.00 for labor (2 hours worth) Plus tax I began to do research, as the original quoted price for the part was roughly $55. (Companies in the area won't release parts prices or sell to the public, only contractors, so when I called myself, prices could not be provided. However, I found the price for the part online, ranging $49 to $58, which is not the wholesale price that contractors get.) My friend, who works for a local HVAC company, did a little research for me today. Here were the costs of the parts, as quoted by the 4 parts companies that they called - 1) $17 (the company Duke City got the part from - Johnstone Supply) 2) $13.76 3) $16.57 4) Same price as above, but plus shipping. Duke City charged me $195 for a $14-$17 part through their company. That is flat out robbery. I understand wanting to make a little extra profit. Business has to make money. But, even giving them the benefit of the doubt, and saying they spent $20 on the part, that's almost 10x the price of the actual part! My wife called Duke City and questioned Gloria, regarding the markup. She told my wife, "Well, that's the price that was quoted by the first technician that did the diagnostic. I don't know where the miscommunication happened." Upon further request of resolution (as an "oh well" is not sufficient, she was told one of the business owners would follow up by tomorrow morning). We will never do business with this company again. I will spread the word. Through social media, word of mouth, etc. UDPATE They sent me the invoice that they claim came from the parts company (Johnstone) and they broke it down as $88.60 for the part, and $99.55 for the freight/handling. Remember though, up above my friend clearly got a quote of $17 from the same company, for the same part. So something is up. Also, $99.55 for freight/handling?! They paid for what? Expedited shipping? Even though they knew they couldn't make it out until 3 days following their original promise of installation (Monday)? Give me a break. Not buying any of it. Regardless, if they gave me that price breakdown on the initial day of diagnoses, I would have turned it down. But, they didn't. They just verbally gave me the estimated cost of the whole project. Their verbal breakdown nowhere near matches the black and white invoice. Which, again, was 4 hours of service and a $55 part. At the end of the end of the day, yes- the original price matched. But Duke City changed their breakdown- now, our invoice shows TWO hours of service and FOUR times the original quoted price on the part (when, really the part is only $17, as verified by another local HVAC contractor). Now, my own opinion is that Duke City works with this company to inflate the prices of the parts that they sell. (We were also told by our friend, Johnstone will match a company's original quote to a client in an effort to support small businesses, regardless of what the actual price is.) This leads to return business for the parts company, and increased profits on behalf of Duke City for parts. (No wonder these parts companies won't release the price of the parts to the general public.) No matter the reasoning though, it's clear there is really something morally questionable about this company. Do business with them at the risk of your wallet. Imagine how many people they did this to before us?

The staff were really responsive, had great empathy...and we're really courteous. They were quite open to fit me in their schedule and once I mentioned my preferences..they were able to get me in the following morning..even when it's early out! Glad to see a business open to working early! They let me know my scheduled arrival time for the technician would be between 7-9am. At a little after 7, they texted to let me know Cesar their technician was on the way...and very soon after..I got a knock on my door by 7:30! Cesar was very thorough in diagnosing the minisplit problem that I had..and was able to help provide me with some good recommendations on what to do with the minisplits! By 9am, he was done helping me restore heat to my home! Thank you son much much! The interaction was very pleasant from initial inquiry to finish by all the staff! I highly recommend and will use this service again for any future problems with HVAC for sure!

He bought a 16 dollar part and charged me 50 dollars for the service. It is cooling the best it ever has. KIdzz seems to have "up priced" me 350 dollars. Or their aervice person has some competence issues. Not sure if its because I am a woman living alone Or because people need to cool their homes and will pay a lot. Not sure... Mr. Robert Pallulat of Nespolo Mechanical failed to acquire these work permits as required by National and New Mexico State Laws. These regulations ensure that licensed contractors perform work--such as installing, replacing, or altering furnaces, air conditioners, or ductwork--to meet state and local safety codes. * Permit Requirement: Separate mechanical and electrical permits are required for heating or cooling and electrical wiring, respectively. Nespolo Mechanical failed to acquire either of these permits. * Mandatory Licensing: Only licensed contractors are authorized to pull permits for, install, and obtain inspections for HVAC ductwork and equipment. * Law Source: These requirements are mandated by N.M. Admin. Code § 14.5.2.8 and local Albuquerque building guidelines to ensure safety. Mr. Robert Pallulat of Nespolo Mechanical violated this Administrative Code by failing to pull both electrical and mechanical permits. * We never demanded anything, we asked to speak with Mr. Pallulat due to his journey men refusing to answer our questions and redirecting us to speak with Mr. Robert Pallulat. We called and texted Mr. Pallulat (please refer to evidence folder) and he responded with informing us with the following text: "I am at a training, I will call you back during lunch." We agreed to halt work until we had a chance to speak to Mr. Robert Pallulat, but it was Nespolo Mechanical that decided to stop the work altogether. It turns out that Mr. Robert Pallulat was not in fact at a "training," and he was instead getting extensive dental work done and not able to speak. I have provided Mr. Robert Pallulat's text response that he sent on the late evening of March 12, 2026 explaining that he could not speak due to anesthesia. Before we even heard that much from Mr. Pallulat, however, the Nespolo Mechanical crew member Ricardo Rivas returned hours after the work order had been stopped to ask if he could retrieve "something he forgot" from the back, and he then roughly ripped out the furnace they had begun installing and dragged it through our backyard and out of our property. Nespolo Mechanical has advertised on public television that they are clearing out their warehouses and offering "free furnaces" but the ground truth is exactly the opposite. They have distorted a rebate offered to any HVAC company by the manufacturer into a deceptive fictitiously false advertising campaign. Nespolo Mechanical, specifically Mr. Robert Pallulat, are attempting to distort the chronological sequence of events in order to distract attention away from the fact that they were in violation of the State of New Mexico building safety codes when they bypassed the permit process from the outset: * Process: Contractors must file for permits before starting work, and work must be inspected by a city inspector after completion as required by as required by New Mexico Administrative Code (NMAC) 14.5.2.8 Consequences of Not Pulling Permits Failure to pull permits in Albuquerque can lead to fines, work stoppages, and required removal of equipment to pass inspections. It is the responsibility of the licensed contractor (or homeowner in limited cases) to pull permits before work begins. The Nespolo Mechanical HVAC project was stopped BY Mr. Pallulat of Nespolo Mechanical. They had ordered and brought to our job site a 24-inch coil, and Mr. Pallulat had informed his crew to make room for that 24-inch coil. It was when the workers on site drew our attention to 24-inches being the incorrect size for the furnace they had already begun to install that we began asking questions about what was supposed to be present and only then were subsequen serious concerns raised. Our family - our one year old child - was left without a working furnace in freezing temperatures. Mr. Pallulat told his crew to abandon our work site and clear all equipment and materials, leaving our old but fully functional units out in the yard exposed to the elements, and therefore rendering them unsafe for further use. Mr. Pallulat failed to contact us until the following day via an extremely insulting and flagrantly inflammatory email which we will respond to here in detail, item for item (please see the email and our included responses below). In addition, we have audio and video recordings that clearly document the Nespolo electrical worker describing how he planned to install the electrical lines. The drill holes he left on our wall and the hole he drilled through it illustrate the path of the electrical lines he planned to install before we agreed to halt the project until we had received confirmation and clarification from Mr. Robert Pallulat, when he was supposed to call us back "during lunch"
