Cannot say enough great things about this experience, from start to finish. First, really clear, easy to sign up website. Gives lots of information about the ride options, availability, other key info. Once we were signed up, good reminders, easy to complete online paperwork. All the ease was a sign of a well run company and team. Day of, check in was easy, and staff was warm and cheery - especially at 8am. Was impressed by their pre-excursion presentation. Was clear, informative, and helped us know what to expect, how skilled the team is, and how best to enjoy ourselves. The guides for our waterfall trip were fantastic. Ryan and Cousin Giggles are careful but fun. We felt really safe no matter how crazy the ride got, we knew from minute one Ryan knew his stuff, and that let us trust him and ourselves to just have a blast. Both Ryan and Giggles shared tons of great info and personal anecdotes. It added to the adventure even more. Grateful for their sharing bits of themselves with us. The ride itself was epic. Great machines, well cared for, and the planned paths just amazing. Fun, rugged, but safe. I recently had the chance to experience the off-road waterfall tour with Kipu Ranch Adventures, and it was hands down one of the highlights of our trip to Kauai. Our guide, Kimo, who has been with the company for 19 years, was absolutely incredible. His experience and passion really showed, and his deep local knowledge from living on the island, made the tour not just fun but genuinely informative and educational. He shared so much about the land, the people, the history and culture that it made the entire experience feel authentic and meaningful. Kyle was such an amazing guide, I felt like we had a private tour of the island and he added so much to the experience with his stories, history, and pop culture knowledge. This was an absolute BLAST! We had the best time here at Kipu Ranch Adventures. We arrived early and checked in. I was given a wristband as the driver. We were each given complimentary bandanas, a snack of locally made granola and access to plenty of water. There are also a couple of bathrooms at their location and some porta potties. After a short introduction by our guides Kyle and Kai, we were loading up into our ATVs. Helmets were optional, but they did give everyone goggles. I thought I would be fine with just my sunglasses. I was wrong lol. I highly recommend this tour, but I also highly recommend my tips: First, wear clothes you do NOT care about. It will definitely be dusty, but depending on rainfall, it could also be very muddy and the clay dirt on Kauai makes a mud that doesn't easily remove from clothing. Second, wear your swimsuit underneath your clothes and bring what you need for swimming after the tour. We had our phones in our water pouches on lanyards the whole time which was perfect for the dirt, mud, and the water. Third, tie your hair back if you don't wear the helmet cuz it's gonna get dusty and dirty. Fourth, WEAR THEIR GOGGLES! There are times when it's so dusty, the only thing you can see is the break lights of the ATV in front of you, and sometimes you can't even see that! My sunglasses did not offer enough protection from the dust lol. Fifth, use the bandana they give you. Tie it around your head and try to fashion it so it protects your nose, mouth, and try to protect your ears. You will be removing dirt from yourself for a while! The ATVs are so fun and the land is so beautiful. Our guides did an excellent job of providing the history to us and making this such a fun and memorable adventure. The trip ends with a splash in a local waterfall and swimming hole. It was so refreshing and fun to experience. And a nice way to remove some of the dirt we picked up along the way. Definitely give this tour a try when on Kauai! read more

I was recommended this activity from countless sources when I was doing research for my Kauai trip. I'm glad we booked it, because it was one of the highlights of the trip. We took the signature tour, not the waterfall one, and we might be back for the other one as some point, because it was just that good! The driving was very casual and straightforward, and the ATVs felt like very capable vehicles. We had multiple breathtaking views to stop at, and I was happy that we were able to switch off between my friend and I. Warning, the dust really gets everywhere if the weather is dry enough, and I'm certain the rain and mud will cake on your clothing too! Listen to them, and wear some sacrificial clothes just in case! Off-roading at Kipu Ranch was one of my favor adventures in Kauai. We went out with Kyle and David. They were great guides. The off-roading is fun, but another unexpected bonus was that the ranch is incredibly scenic. You get unique views of the Kauai mountains and a large water fall with some great picture opportunities. The length of the tour is good with a few stops along the way. The off roading is not super technical and the vehicles are like tanks so it is a low stress experience. Out of my family's entire week in Kauai, booking the Waterfall Trail Expedition tour with Kipu Ranch Adventures was the highlight for each of us! You get such a rich history and understanding of the island, the land, the culture, all from locals deeply connected to their home! The tour of the ranch is beautiful and comes with some amazing views, you get to see exactly why Kauai is dubbed the Garden Isle. Tips for the trip: it is quite a bumpy ride so make sure your body can handle it lol, definitely wear clothes you don't care to stain because you will get muddy and dusty!! there are 3 major stops during the tour so if you're booking for multiple people, you can each have a turn to drive the atv, and if you plan on taking a dip in the waterfall at the end of the trip, definitely bring a towel and be forewarned it's a bit of a steep walk but definitely worth it imo, it's gorgeous. The ranch also provides you with a bandana (you get to keep) and goggles (you return) to protect your face through the dusty/muddy terrain and to avoid eating any bugs lol, as well as a small bag of housemade granola. Okay, this is definitely an adventure. This is a four-wheel drive, off road trek through incredible landscapes, see my pic. The vastness and colors are amazing. Being Hawaii, there was rain, and when there is rain: there will be mud, see my pic. Expect to pick up dust in some areas, and plenty of mud. But for us, there was very little slip sliding around. The guides are safety-first conscience. They enforce protocols, while extremely safe won't allow for free-spirits (so set your expectations accordingly). But the vast majority will have a great time going through the mud puddles and stopping at the lookout points. This excursion offers exhilaration and tranquility. I booked the waterfall trip adventure for my birthday! Honestly, it was the highlight of my trip! So much fun to experience the beauty of Kauai from an ATV! From the reservation process to getting back to our car, the staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and kind. We had Cousin Kai and Cousin Giggles as our phenomenal guides. My sister is mobility impaired and walks with a cane. Kai and Giggles took care at every stop to drive her closer if there was any walking to do. Very experienced, super considerate, positive, and accommodating. The Kipu Ranch is incredibly beautiful and perfect for ATVs. This was so much better than the first ATV tour we did with another provider closer to the beach - that was SO dusty and had way more stops / chit-chatting. This one was more mud than dust - which is way better for breathing! And it was much more action-oriented with limited chatting - just enough to learn some island history and history of the land. My husband and I  did the Ultimate Ranch Tour with Kipu Ranch Adventures and had an absolute blast. Our guides, Giggles and Cousin Ryan were outstanding and shared really interesting information about the area, movies, food and the history of the ranch.  We drove Kawasaki 750 4X4 TERYXs on the tour, which were in great shape.  There were a few spots that were steep and bumpy but very manageable.  My husband, who has driven ATVs for decades, truly enjoyed himself.  The views were breathtaking and I enjoyed every aspect of this tour.  Cannot recommend it enough! read more

I've been wanting to do this for a long time. It looks like a fun way to experience the island from a different angle. I wish I didn't do it. It was expensive - over $430 for 2 people. The ride is very bumpy, at times fun but mostly uncomfortable. I would accept uncomfortable if there was more to see. I'm just guessing, but 75% of the ride is just on trails that are surrounded by vegetation - you can't see anything. When we did stop, the views were gorgeous, but I'll save my money and go up the canyon or to the dozens of lookout spots (free) throughout the island. The waterfall was underwhelming. Our guides were awesome. Ryan was tremendously hospitable and hilarious. He should have his own "visiting Kauai podcast." And this review is nothing negative on the operation. The people are great and the UTVs are awesome and well-maintained. If you've been dreaming of doing it, do it so you can say you can. I just know I regret it and wish I better spent my money. read more

My wife and I were looking for something fun to do on Valentines Day, and something we hadn't experienced before in Hawaii. We've been on several ATV/Jeep tours in other locations and always had a good time. So, when we came across Kipu Ranch Adventures, we decided to give it a try and we were glad we did! We opted for the afternoon Waterfall Triple Trail Adventure tour which had three stops at lookouts/viewpoints, plus going to the waterfall at the end. We were told the trails can either be dusty or muddy depending on recent rainfall. In our case it hadn't rained in a few days so it was dusty. Very dusty! Definity wear clothing you don't mind getting coated in a fine layer of red dust. We knew that ahead of time so weren't concerned with dirty clothes/shoes afterwards. They provide goggles and a bandana for each person, but you'll still end up with dirt everywhere like hair, ears, nails and just wait until you blow your nose later, ha. The tour itself was a lot of fun and there is an opportunity for at least 2 or 3 different people to drive as you have spots to switch during the lookout stops. The UTV vehicles are well maintained and all safety equipment like seat belts and door handles were functional. Our guides were "Giggles" and Kaimana. They were both informative, entertaining, funny and friendly. Their safety briefing was perfect with just the right amount of information and not intimidating to anyone if it was their first time. During the stops they spent a few minutes explaining the history of the area we were looking at and its present-day usage. They also were available for pictures. As for driving itself, you're going to travel at speeds as fast as the slowest person in your group. I don't think we ever went any faster than around 25 mph. This was plenty fast considering the dusty conditions and those speeds were achieved on the smoother gravel roads. The more technical areas were driven slower in the 3-5 mph range. I'd consider myself a moderately experienced UTV/ATV driver so in my opinion, nothing was too difficult, and the vehicles were well matched for the terrain. Our guides gave us some recommendations during the stop prior to the technical sections to avoid rollovers and what to do in the unlikely event it occurs. The stop at the waterfall was enjoyed by everyone in the group and most jumped in to clean off the dust. The water is somewhat cold, but it felt so refreshing the initial shock wore off quickly. We were at the waterfall area for about 20-25 minutes and then a short ride back to the main office and staging grounds. Overall, we highly recommend Kipu Ranch for anyone looking for an experience in Kauai that doesn't involve the ocean or hiking.
