My partner-in-crime did a great job summarizing our experience here in Kauai, so I won't go into all the nitty gritty details except to mention that Ben, Crystal and Nathan are the best! On the way there we were involved in a car accident just before our zipline time, and they made sure we were okay, called the PD and even provided testimony since one of them witnessed the accident. (Getting hit by a tour van blows, just in case you were wondering.) Even though we were running late because of the accident, Ben offered to refund our money, but we declined. Instead we shook it off, Ben got us suited up, gave us a safety briefing and we were zipping through the trees! Had a great time with Nikki and Zach (sp?). Both were serious yet entertaining about safety and took the time to get to know each person in the group. They also offered to take pictures for everyone. I enjoyed the extra local facts during each break, as well as a few little activities to further test one's adventurousness in between. I did the treetop tour and the monster swing. Both, especially the latter, were quite the rush and worth the money. Thank you for giving me such a safe yet thrilling first experience ziplining and monster swinging! It is good to know this activity is eco-friendly and supporting good local causes. It's also super cool traversing through actual trees rather than purely human-made constructs like other ziplines. My group had a blast on our zipline tour with Zach and Jake. It's not easy to calm a group of young women, but the guys did an excellent job. Zach made it a point to learn everyone's names and get to know each of us -- this is probably why we felt so comfortable. Dealing with the general public, and especially tourists, where strict safety must be followed has to be so challenging at times. Nevertheless, our guides, Ben and Nate, were awesome! They were fun and upbeat and seemed to be "hanging loose" but they were so vigilant about safety. I admire their patience with those in the group who would sometimes fail to correctly "safe transfer" themselves and I admire their ability to concentration on getting a person clipped on the line safely while using their eyes in the back of their head to keep tabs on the rest of the group. Ziplining seems to require a mutual trust amongst strangers and I certainly admire the trust the Just Live guides put into a tree stand full of inexperienced zipliners. Centrally Located Just Live is located centrally in Lihuie at the Anchor Cove Shopping Center and this made meeting the van for the trip to the zip lining site easy. Making reservations was super easy. The company was definitely organized and on time. Thrills and Frills Regarding my ZzzzZzzzzzZzzZZZzzzziplining remark, the first time I went ziplining was 20 years ago and you actually had to hold on to a trapeze like contraption or you were going to fall. You did have a harness to catch you, just in case, but it wasn't going to be comfortable and it was, just in case. Today, you don't have to hold on. Rather you sit in a "sit harness" and just use one hand to steer. It makes ziplining a lot easier for the common person, but definitely takes some of the thrill out of it it. Patience Please As Rob N, nicely summed up in his review, for the 2.5 hour tour you only spend about 90 seconds on the zip line. The rest of the time is spent waiting in the trees. We had a big group so I think we spent even more time waiting then most parties. But anyway, bring your camera and be prepared to admire the beautify of Kauai from the tree stands. Awesome Treetops Zipline Tour and Canopy Bridges! We had a hard time deciding between the 4+ other zipline companies on Kauai, but we finally decided on Just Live due to the convenient location in Lihue, the promise of canopy bridges, and the awesome yelp reviews! We took the Treetops Zipline Tour (7 zips, 4 canopy bridges) and we were not disappointed! Krystal and Nathan were our guides and they were AMAZING!!! I highly recommend them if you have a choice in guides. We felt very safe with them the whole time, and Krystal really helped calm our fears! Our absolute favorite were the "tree swings" which you have to balance on a beam in order to get out to the farther ones (don't worry, you're clipped into your harness!) - makes for an amazing group photo-op! We also loved the canopy bridges -- they make for great pictures, and it's a little bit of an added bonus trying to hop between the trees. My husband also opted for the add-on of Monster Swing ($15) which drops you 60+ feet -- he loved it, although I'm glad I stayed on the ground :) You should also bring some mosquito repellent when on the ground for the safety briefing (about 30 minutes), altho they do provide some complimentary if you forget. Once you are in the trees, mosquitos are not a problem. PROS: 4 canopy bridges, tree swings, awesome guides, 7 zips, add-ons such as monster swing and rock climbing, felt safe the entire time! We did the wiki wiki with three ziplines at 7am. I was terrified of just jumping, but Paul and Chandon made me feel so much better. Cracking jokes was a good way to loosen the tension of going. Super friendly staff from the office where you check in, the ride to the course, and the staff that suits you up. Beautiful views. It was nice and cool in the morning. The bridges are fun. Wobbly and just fun to hop around on. It's on one property, so you dont have to worry about riding from one zip to another. Very affordable, we got kama'aina since I live here, but even without, it's still a good price! And they provide beverages and snacks at the end. What a wonderful way to start a Day!! I did a 7:30am tour. I only did the wiki wiki tour, which consisted of 3 zips and 2 bridges. It was fun, but oh man did I want to do more! The wiki wiki course is definitely one for beginners or for those who are afraid of heights, just a way to get your feet wet. The other tours definitely looked like the better way to go. The zipping itself was flat out amazing. The guides Dennise and Zack were so fun, funny and got along great so it made it that much better. I felt safe, comfortable and really confident. Our daughter recently turned 18 and asked that our family go ziplining. I have always been afraid of heights, heck everyone except for our 18 yr old, was afraid of heights! Awesome!! I went on my actual birthday with my family and it was all our first time ziplining. Tony and Kellie are super knowledgeable, sweet, and attentive - not just with ziplining but with life and living on the island as well! They made us feel completely safe - to the point of being almost tedious but we all had a blast. We did about six runs in total and they advised us on what we could do/should or shouldn't try for each one. They educated us throughout and threw out lots of jokes. Our group was pretty fun too! Although random, it was a good mix of older people, younger siblings, couples and families. I also loved their map on the wall that marks visitors and how they have a program that helps kids. The weather in December made it difficult for us to do beach activities so this was a great alternative. Definitely a must - plus it was cool to be right where Jurassic Park was filmed! read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. This company is just flat nasty, the van smelled like urine and the air did not work in the back. My wife and I were only in the van for about 5 minutes then they told my son that he was fat and could not ride the zip line, this was the manager that said these very hurtful words to a young man so without hesitations we all left. This so called company would not reimburse the money that the 4 of us used to purchase these tickets. I am happy to give good reviews when they deserve it but I also will put a bad review when a company treats a customer in this manner. Shamefully, my original review did not show up when visiting JL's reviews. We were so excited to go zip-lining in Kauai that we made the huge mistake of booking with Just Live. When we got there, they told me that I would have to put my camera back in the car and not have it with me because the lens was too big. Now I am not talking about a lens you would see on a Hawaiian bluff to photograph surfers a half mile away. This lens was on my modest Canon XSi available at Costco. I explained that I had gone zip-lining five times previously with the very same camera and there had been no issue. But their response was that "for safety reasons" you cannot bring the camera on the adventure. Period. All the while they were coaxing my fourteen year-old daughter into her zipping gear trying to pressure me into not having any family pictures of our $450+ adventure (I am strictly an amateur photographer but I LOVE taking photos). Thank goodness for cell phones. Right on the spot, I called another zip line company in Princeville and described my camera and lens. They said I would be welcome to join them for a zip line adventure (which we did and it was FANTASTIC). I got wonderful photos of the family and the scenery from the Princeville-based operator. But here's the real tragedy of our experience. They had worked on my daughter so hard that she was reduced to tears because her father (me) was such an ogre as to not just put his camera in the car and fall into line with all the lemmings these thoughtless and horrid operators pushed around. Why would anyone patronize a business that turns child against parent and falsely hides behind the excuse of "safety" to prevent a father from photographing a wonderful adventure? If they are okay with point-and-shoot cameras, what's the big deal with a digital SLR you can buy at Costco? There are at least three zip line operating companies on Kauai. Do yourself a favor and use one that does not falsely hide behind safety. We are very glad we did. We have wonderful photos of our adventure. We did not leave our camera in the car. read more

My husband thought it was fabulous and has no complaints. The only complaint is the one we have about all the guides here everywhere we go - they are a little TOO laid back and go crazy on the stupid jokes. Their safety record (according to them) is excellent and I felt very safe the whole time. The only reason I don't give them a 5 is because you are zipping in a very compact area. While you have a few very long zips, you are only zipping through a few acres (at most) of Norfolk Pine. I have zipped in other places and other countries and felt like I was exploring a much larger region. They also say it takes 3 and 1/2 hours but in our experience it was only about 2, possibly 2.5. The difference is due to either one of two reasons. First, our group was short a person and therefore completed the run more quickly. I highly doubt this would have taken an hour, however. The second, more plausible, explanation is that they also include your training time and the time they give you AFTER you're done to eat snacks. We chose to take the snacks and go home. The zips are going to be exhilarating - better than tubing with Kauai Backcountry Adventures - and the view is beautiful. Over all - would probably do again, but it is a little pricey and I wouldn't recommend if you have frightened children. One of the couples on our group had three younger teenage kids who were absolute daredevils and LOVED every second. The staff is helpful and very willing to take photos whenever you want. read more

What better way to kick off a honeymoon than with an adrenaline pumping adventure? ;) My husband booked a zipline adventure for us the day after we got married. We'd both been zip lining once before, but our buddy and my younger brother had never been. Just Live! was an awesome experience. Your tour starts in their office at Kalapaki Bay. (Note: There is a 250 lbs weight limit cap to be able to partake in this excursion. Didn't apply to our group but just an FYI). What to bring/wear: sunglasses, athletic shoes or shoes w traction, Vibrams are fine, but no flippy floppies. Feel free to bring a camera with a strap for around your neck. Maybe wear cargo shorts w secure pockets for phone, ID, wallet. A guide will drive you to the zip line location. There you can spray on bug juice if you want, depends on how buggy it is that day...your guide will know and offer repellant if needed. You can also stow valuables with their staff at the main station if you don't wanna haul it with you. Everyone in my group wore sunglasses, no one lost them. Our guides, Brennan and Chandin were fantastic and funny, esp Brennan. They were skilled, knowledgeable and made everyone feel comfortable. They set everyone up properly with safety gear and provided ample safety training around equipment and techniques for a good tour. We went through seven zip lines plus three suspension bridges. While you're up in the trees, there are also opportunities to play on swings and a balance beam. We were also offered to add on another adventure at the end of or zip line tour...the monster swing or rock climbing wall or both. DO THE SWING. I've done some scary stuff in my life, skydiving, bungee jumping...but that swing was cray. I didn't try the rock wall but I highly recommend the swing. And it's not that expensive to add on! Overall, it was a great experience and if you have the time to check out this tour, you'll definitely enjoy it! read more

My friends and I had an awesome time zip lining with the guys of Just Live - even the one in our group who was nervous, terrified, and afraid of heights (and managed to get through the entire thing!). We did the 7 zip line package for $120, and it was a lot of fun as we improved upon our technique of flying above the local trees and landings with each successive zip. Before we got started, we were given instruction on the harnesses and hooks; the system is obviously designed for safety first. This calmed many of our nerves, and for those who were still nervous, the first zip was enough to (mostly) alleviate that. The instructors were funny, kind, laid-back, and accommodating. They told us about the local area and were very helpful about recommendations for the rest of our stay on the island. I was impressed that the program was established more as a charitable organization, and that a part of our zip lining fee would go to educating local children about the surrounding areas. Best of all, we had some HOT zip lining instructors (though I did see that some of the other groups were not as lucky). I mean, if you're flying toward a tree trunk at full speed, it's nice to be caught by a guy who's both capable AND cute amirite?! read more

I did the 7 zipline tree top tour ($125) in a group of 8 + 2 guides. In the course, there are 2 medium (7 second), 3 short (3-5 second) high in the trees, and the last 2 beautiful scenic longer ziplines (~20 seconds). Of the 2.5 hours, you spend about 90 total seconds on ziplines and another 90 seconds walking on suspended bridges, the rest of the 2 hours waiting for others or learning history / getting instructed, but I was never really bored bc it was kind of fun to be up in the trees and the guides are pretty talkative. The last half hour is eating a snack and maybe doing the 60 foot swing (+$15). This place is VERY safety conscious, babysits you just about every step, and is the perfect place to take someone who is a little bit nervous about ziplining. You also get to walk across some bridges in the Norfolk Island pines 70 feet up. The 2 guides were super friendly and knowledgeable about the trees. Most of the time is spent waiting for others to do the zipline. I would recommend it to all people new to ziplining, but I will not be returning except maybe to do the EcoTour. read more

Talk about a random memory. Perhaps it was triggered by putting a bike helmet on my 2 yr old recently. But I remembered after coming home from this trip to Kauai, both the wife and I developed an itch around our chin and sideburn areas (no my wife does not have sideburns), which we attributed to the straps of the helmets we wore here since tinea thrives in hot humid environments. Attention all adrenaline junkies: Get your butts strapped into the ropes, wires, and protective gear and support this amazing Kauai business. We went on the Eco-Adventure tour which featured zip-lining, climbing a rock wall, climbing a 100 ft. tree, "bridge" crossings, rappelling, and a monster swing sure to make your tummy churn. Our guides were Juli (one of the founders) and Ben and they were nothing less than stellar guides and hosts. If you're afraid you'll fall out of the zip-line or somehow find yourself face-down in the dirt beneath the rock wall don't fear: they have a perfect safety record and are proud of it. You can tell that all the guides there are loving what they do and they're infectiously happy and upbeat. The most fun part for me was the zip-lining, but the best part of the day was knowing that I climbed a rock wall having never done one and I climbed a really REALLY tall tree having been completely terrified halfway up. However, you're strapped in and know you're in good hands. Just live has a great crew and the guys are very friendly and knowledgeable. The package was for seven zip lines and the last two were lonnnnnngggggg! The experience was great and was also my first. I am very happy about everything, but I wish the weather was a little bit better. It started raining and was windy at times due to trade winds. We paid $250 for two people. We didn't know there was a coupon in the books that you can find everywhere and we could have saved 10%, but we didn't have it. Just remember the coupon! I used my camera for videos and photos and had no problem using it. They teach you many techniques to go straight, do a superman, go backwards, and others. We were not sure ziplining was for us, but the local expert said this is one of the best (the only one above the tree tops) and we would be disappointed with the 3 line experience. Okay, let's try it. We had a GREAT time! The entire crew was fantastic and really made the whole experience fun and positive. The lady at the check in was cheery. Tim, the driver from South Africa was witty and funny, and full of great local information. What really topped it off were our guides Paul and Jazzy. They were very calm and methodical making the entire experience safe and fun. Not once did we feel unsafe or coerced to try something we were not prepared; yet we knew we could do it because they quickly built the trust. This tour was fun, quick, and definitely a good time all around! My husband and I did the Wiki Wiki tour, a shortened zipline tour and it was extremely fun! Tim and a very nice lady I'm forgetting the name of were our guides and they were very helpful and hilarious. Our group was small, just four of us, and that made the whole thing intimate and fun. The scenery was gorgeous and I'm glad Tim could tell us all about it, its history, what movies were filmed there, and what types of plants were around. Just Live's Treetop Zipline Tour was amazing. I don't have anything to compare it to, but I had a lot of fun and it was a great experience. Our guides were extremely nice and knowledgeable, and they had good senses of humor. They also knew who they could mess with (such as me) and who to leave alone (my mother) while up so high in the sky. The guides know a lot about the scenery and history of the area, and they told us some interesting information about the movie filmed in the area (Jurassic Park) including pointing out what scenes were filmed within our range of sight. They told us about the trees the ziplines are on, that they were brought over from Australia to build ships but grew larger here than they did there so they couldn't be used anymore. They also pointed out some African trees (also bigger than they grow in Africa) and had some advice for some of the other tourists regarding places to eat nearby and other attractions to try out. While telling us all this, they flawlessly kept their attention to their jobs and kept everyone safe and having fun while learning from them about Kauai. If you are looking for a fun, exciting activity while on Kauai, I definitely recommend Just Live. I don't know much about their other services, but the ziplines were amazing. If you go, I recommend the Treetop tour since it is longer and offers more sightseeing than their other tour. (Seven lines instead of just three) Just be aware that you won't get a refund if you back out after arriving on scene, so make sure you're up to it before you book a trip. read more

I would highly recommend Just Live! to anyone visiting Kauai. This was the first stop on our vacation to Kauai and boy did it set a great tone! My group had the privilege of being taken through the course by Scott and Jordan (with an assist from Tim), all of whom were fun-loving, knowledgeable, and, most importantly, extremely proficient and safety oriented. The tour itself is very well run and on each platform we were treated to local area facts and entertaining banter between tour guides. Additionally, the actual ziplining is fun and a unique way to experience the beautiful landscape. Pro-Tip: Scott and Jordan wore a GoPro to snap pictures and video that you can purchase at the end of the tour; however, I would recommend bringing your own camera/phone(make sure you have a velcro or zip pocket to secure it in) to increase the variety of pictures and your chances of getting a good one. read more

Awesome! Just awesome! This was my first time zip lining and I would definitely do it again. We did the package tour of zip lining, wall climbing, monster swing, and repelling. All of it was a blast. We lucked out and except for on the zip lining (when there was one other person with us) we had our guides Ben and Angus all to ourselves. They were great! I felt totally at ease and confident in them. I never worried about safety. Even better, they're hilarious. They had me in stitches several times. If you go, ask about "Burt Reynolds on a lazy susan." I think for the rest of my life those six words alone will be enough to make me belly laugh. One tip: do the monster swing!
