This was my very first time on a helicopter tour, and there is no better view to see than the island of Kauai! My husband was very excited when I presented the idea of doing a tour from the skies of the island and insisted on doing a doors-off helicopter tour. I was a bit scared about the idea of being so high up in the sky without a door, but once we took off, my worries flew off the door, and I had the most breathtaking adventure! The company takes safety very seriously, and they do all they can to accommodate their clients without putting them at risk. The day before our scheduled flight, I received a text asking to confirm the weights of all participants. We were originally scheduled for a flight on a Monday morning; however, the weather was not cooperating (very strong wind advisory), and I received a phone call that day letting me know that the flight can not occur. She did offer to reschedule right away, and lucky for us, we had a day or two when we were not committed to other activities. We went on a Wednesday afternoon instead. The day was somewhat overcast to start, but it was perfect in the afternoon. When we arrived, they weighed us, made sure we had phone tethers, and provided some safety instructions. Right before our flight, the pilot took a bunch of photos, and then the staff helped everyone get in their respective helicopters. They have step stools, which were very helpful for a short person like myself. The staff also assisted with gearing up and buckling you in, then reversing the process later. Side note, wear warm clothes. It can get quite chilly up in the skies! Our pilot was very nice. I can't remember his name, unfortunately. We got to sit up front in the cockpit with him! It was such an amazing view. Even if you can't sit up front, the whole experience would still give you such amazing view because... no doors. We saw numerous waterfalls, the area where they filmed Jurassic Park, the Waimea canyon, the lush north side of the island, Mount Waialeale, and of course, my personal favorite, the Napali coast. We were even graced with some special appearances of some hunchedback whales. We had a truly magnificent time. I wasn't ready for it to be over when it ended. Our experience with Airborne aviation and the wonderful memories we have as a result are beyond fantastic. Our pilot was knowledgeable, friendly, and pointed out the views while doing his best to not rush during flight. He made sure to get as close as possible to places/views for our enjoyment. It was a fun and educational experience. I wish I could say it was once in a lifetime, but I know that the next time I am back on the island of Kauai, this is something I would love to do again. This easily was the best adventure I have gone on during our trip. If you have ever given this type of tour a second thought, don't. Just do it. You will thank yourself later! Was it costly? Yes, but the memories... priceless.

    Rainbow from the helicopter!

Absolutely amazing experience! Everyone was friendly, informative, and safe! If it's in your budget, do not miss this excursion.

Felipe was an excellent pilot/tour guide. He played wonderful music throughout the flight and shared facts about the island. FAA safety briefing was short but thorough. Make sure you tie your hair up in a tight bun.... I spent 1 hour trying to brush the knots out of my head because my braid came loose. Definitely a tight squeeze in the front with 3 people. Seating is arranged by weight. Free cold drinks/coffee before and after the flight.

By far the highlight of our week in Kauai! I'll admit, I was pretty nervous going into this experience- it was my first helicopter ride, and to top it off, it was doors-off! But from the moment we took off, I felt completely at ease. The team made sure we were well-prepared, and I quickly realized there was nothing to worry about. We were lucky to get a calm day in mid-December and the whole experience felt incredibly safe and smooth. Our pilot, Joe, was fantastic- so kind, knowledgeable, and professional. He made sure everyone was comfortable and gave us some great background on the island. As for the views...wow! Seeing Kauai from above was absolutely breathtaking. You really get a whole new perspective on the island that you can't get from land. Honestly, it was worth every penny. It's an experience that will stay with me forever, and I'm so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone to try it. If you're on the fence about doing a doors-off helicopter ride, do it! You won't regret it.

This was my husbands idea and I was very uncomfortable with it but went along anyway. The staff was so nice and professional, we felt very safe the whole time. There was a bit of turbulence on our trip due to the rain and wind which was nerve wrecking for me, but our pilot, Brian, was a pro and handled it all very well. He was very knowledgeable about the island and showed us some incredible views that we would have never seen otherwise. So many rainbows!! This was a great tour that I highly recommend if you can handle heights and flying well.

Probably the coolest thing I'll ever do! Such a great experience and enjoyed every second! It's a great way to see the island from air as well as learn about it. My family did the doors off tour and our pilot Tianna was great! She gave us a tour throughout the entire experience and even played some calm music. My mom was nervous at first but the pilots are all very experienced and they make you feel safe. She had a great time! Make sure to wear a jacket or long sleeves as it's very windy up there. I highly suggest booking with Airborne Aviation if you're able to!

Awesome tour! Expect very friendly and professional service from ground crew to pilot (thanks Wayne!!). Not only was the service fantastic, so were the views. From the scenic harbors and the natural beauty of the mountains to the majestic waterfalls (that were surprisingly everywhere on the island)! Definitely worth doing a helicopter tour with NO DOORS! So exciting and open. If you want a helicopter tour Airborne Aviation is the place to go!

It was amazing! The most beautiful sights I have ever seen. The pilot was friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Kauai!

We had the best time! This was a spur of the moment decision to book, and I am so glad we did! I have never had such a wonderful experience. The views were spectacular and the crew and pilot were kind, cheerful, and knowledgeable. Such an amazing experience all around!

It's hard to say what your favorite adventure is when visiting Kauai. The whole place is an adventure, but with only 30% of the island accessible, getting the opportunity to see it from the air is extraordinary. I looked at a few different helicopter tours and ended up very happy I choose Airborne Aviation and the "doors off" experience that I could truly feel. Flying through canyons and around the Na Poli coast will be an unrivaled experience I'll remember for my whole life. Our pilot Brian did a fantastic job of explaining the island and informed us of any upcoming "bumps" ahead of time when we were in the air. The staff was very kind and welcoming. They offered coffee and water and explained the flight path while providing more information about the island and answering any questions. Freddie was especially helpful and accommodating. I will say it's a good idea to book early in your trip in case they have to cancel the flight. All flights the first day I booked were canceled due to extremely windy conditions and the pilot took the time to explain the situation to us in person. Then the staff helped everyone rebook. I flew two days later in much better conditions. I appreciate that the pilots fly the route and make flight decisions based on the safety and comfort of their passengers. Again, excellent experience all around. Wonderful staff, pilots, and flight. Thank you!

This was the most fun and exciting thing I have done in a long time. My wife and I had a great experience with Steven. Highly recommend.

By air is the best way to see the numerous hidden waterfalls like these peppered all over the rugged terrain of Kauai.

AMAZING! Do yourself a favor and book an Airborne Aviation tour of this gorgeous island or your trip to Kauai will not be complete. The pilots are top notch, highly experienced - they do search and rescue on the island - so you know you're in great hands. They're accommodating - offered us a flight with or without doors - whatever we needed to feel comfortable. In the end, after reading so many glowing reviews of flying without doors, we did the same and absolutely loved it! It's was a truly incredible experience. Exploring Kauai first by air then by sea/boat, land/hiking, etc gave us a unique and more holistic appreciation for the beauty of this amazing island.

If you visit Kauai, I would highly recommend a doors off helicopter tour with Airborne Aviation! Their staff on the ground were friendly and informative, our pilot Brian was great and the views were spectacular! Worth the splurge to see the island from above.

This happened to my friend's daughter who was visibly upset after the bar staff selling her an açaí bowl gave her attitude and told her to cover up her swimsuit. The bar is right next to the pool. The grounds are well kept, but the hospitality and cleanliness of rooms can be improved. The walls are thin. The rooms are loud. You can hear your neighbors moving furniture day and night- the furniture is on wheels. Many airline people stay here. This place is budget and not luxury. I would consider a neighboring place if you want a good night's sleep, clean room, and welcoming hospitality. There seems to be way too many rules here and you don't get that nice relaxing resort feeling. I feel bad for the staff who are kind and doing their best. No welcome Lei, no nice Hawaiian music until the very last day of my stay. Kukui restaurant- very nice staff. good service. We loved the Wagyu burger !

From the moment you arrive, you know you're in for something special. Complimentary valet parking, breathtaking views of the ocean, beautifully manicured golf course, infinity pools, and even a distant lighthouse create an unforgettable setting before you even sit down. We started with the Lobster Tempura and the Grilled Octopus, and both were excellent. The cocktails were beautifully crafted and the perfect way to begin the evening. For our entrées, we ordered the Kampachi (the first fish on the menu) and the Filet Mignon. After sharing both dishes, my husband and I completely agreed--the fish was the clear winner. It was absolutely outstanding. Every element on the plate complemented the others perfectly, creating one of those dishes you remember long after dinner is over. The filet mignon was very good--perfectly cooked and flavorful--but if we returned, we would order fish again without hesitation. In fact, we'd probably try the other fresh fish option as well (I believe it was Opah). Dessert was the perfect ending to the meal. We enjoyed the warm chocolate cake and the Hawaiian-inspired banana split, both beautifully prepared and delicious. This is the kind of restaurant you choose when you want to celebrate a special occasion or simply treat yourself to an exceptional meal. The combination of stunning scenery, attentive service, creative cocktails, and outstanding cuisine makes it well worth the visit. It's easy to understand why Hualani's has earned such an outstanding reputation. This was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Kauai, and we can't wait to return. Highly recommended!

Located in Kalapaki Beach in Kauai, the Marriott Kaua'i Beach club is the timeshare portion of a…read morelarge resort complex, originally built in 1995 on the former site of Westin Kauai (Kauai Surf Hotel before that). My family and my wife's parents had stayed at this hotel more than twenty years ago and really enjoyed it, so my wife and I took the opportunity in April 2026 to make a return visit, staying for 6 nights at 1,350 points for a Parlor room (basically a hotel room with a Murphy bed...max 2 people)...plus a mandatory daily Hawaiian 'Villa tax' of $15.22. We really enjoyed our visit to the 'Garden Isle'. Back then, the hotel portion of the complex was a high end Marriott hotel. In 2021, the owners rebranded it to become the Royal Sonesta, which created a bit of confusion for me. What's important is that they are two separate entities, but letting guests/owners share things like the pool, lounge chairs on the beach, and fitness center. However owners can not charge anything to their room, instead having to create a separate Sonesta account to do so. Two things that jumped out were that the two large surface self-parking lots (complementary for owners) are quite a distance from the lobby entrance. And the check-in lobby for the vacation club itself is on the beach side of this large complex. In between is a beautiful and very large garden, with a koi pond and various retail shops. There is a large sundry shop, selling essentials along with snacks and food for comparable prices to other stores nearby. There is a free shuttle to the nearby airport, though we didn't take it since we had a rental car. So it is possible to not use a rental car, since there are two shopping centers within walking distance, along with multiple restaurants on the resort grounds itself. We stayed in a parlor (studio-style) room, and it was fine for the two of us. The bathroom was actually small for a hotel, with the walk-in shower being good with OK shower pressure but not really hot water. There is a kitchenette (full size sink, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, full set of flatware, glasses, mugs, pitcher for water, colander, tupperware for leftovers, blender). Also an apartment-size refrigerator with a usable freezer that kept our ice cream frozen. There are gas grills outside, which I noticed were daily cleaned by housekeeping. The room had a queen murphy bed, with a OK mattress. When hidden, the space is used as a couch. We found it much easier just to keep it down throughout our stay, since we were able to find space to put away the couch cushions out of the way...though a survival key became a way to minimize the number of bad toe stubs on the corners. Housekeeping comes at the end of your stay, though a cleaning can be added at additional cost. Garbage can be thrown out in nearby bins in the hallways. Self-service laundry is separate from the units, and was not even in our tower, but in an adjoining one. There is a small cost associated with it. It had a nice TV with a lot of basic cable channels (HGTV!) along with 3 Showtime channels. It's an older room so electrical outlets were at a premium, but they had put power strips behind the bed so was able to connect my machines next to my side of the bed without need for an extension cord. The private lanai had seating for two and a great unobstructed view of the ocean and beach (worth the upgrade to an ocean view). It's one of the best parts of the unit. We saw the NCL Pride of America come into the nearby Nilliwilli cruise port and stay for 2 days (Thursday and Friday). Important to note since the area gets a lot busier when the cruise ship is in town. The fitness center was good. Cardio equipment was older but in good shape. Had plenty of towels, but only had one disinfecting wipe dispenser, which was sometimes out. Huge yoga room with mats and equipment. Had a filtered water dispenser. The rooms were not created as a fitness center, but still had decent ventilation. The owners lounge is nice, with free use of a foosball table and a working air hockey table. It had working outlets and air conditioning so hung out there in the afternoon after checkout since our flight was at night. In terms of resort activities, it's pretty limited during the shoulder-season when we came. Staff interaction was OK, though in the beginning, the pushing of timeshare presentations ("500 points if you sign up!") by the concierges were prevalent.

The room was quite large with a great kitchen area with granite counter tops and nice appliances. Also a large bathroom with tub and separate shower area as well as two toilets. It was a one bedroom. There was a small lanai off the bedroom and you could open the sliding door from the living room. There was also a washer/dryer in the room. The view from the room looked over the whole pool area which has a winding pool that you can walk around over to the main pool. They also had gas grills to use and many people did. One note is if you open the sliding door in the living room area and don't match up the line in the top of the doors, the air conditioning doesn't go on. We thought the air conditioning quit. After calling the front office someone came within an hour. Told us about the line. We also had an issue with the washer and after a call to the front desk a maintenance person was there within an hour. The staff we interacted with were very friendly and very helpful. There are also chairs to sit on the beach area and enjoy the water. The beach is not large but very clean and nice to relax at. There is a shopping center across the street to buy things for the condo. We will stay here again next time in the area.

It's a newer 2005 property that is well-maintained and our condo G302 had access to the most gorgeous sunrises. Beach is not recommended for swimming, but the complex has a beautiful pool that the kiddies will love. I appreciate having a well-appointed kitchen that gives you a lot of flexibility in planning your day. Safeway is conveniently across the street.

From the perspective of a lifetime Hilton loyalist who has stayed in many Hilton Garden Inns in my…read moretime, this is better than most. It has all of the requisite HGI necessities such as clean, standardized rooms, available breakfast made to order, and a price point that does not break the bank compared to big resorts on Kaua'i. I had a comfortable stay here with easy parking, a comfortable room, and good wi-fi. It doesn't hurt that you can see the ocean from some rooms and that the property grounds have some unexpected nice touches such as a koi pond water feature, a spacious airy lobby open to the outside, and easy self parking for a fee. In this genre of Hilton portfolio hotel, it hits a bit above its expected weight. What keeps it in the 4-star range (instead of 5) is its location. It is relatively near Lihue and the airport (about a 12-15 min drive) but far from any of the major resort spots that Kaua'i is really known for (like Poipu or Princeville). Its location is just a couple of minutes drive outside of Kapa'a and if you are not looking for a high end vacation resort experience, this will suffice as a place to lay your head with confidence while helping you respect a moderate budget. It is not cheap by most HGI standards but it is reasonable by local Kaua'i lodging standards. A rental car is a must if you choose to stay here because there really is nothing around you within easy or safe walking distance. That is a problem if you are here to be a tourist and see some sights and places that The Garden Isle is known for. It is this location that keeps the pricing here down but the inconvenience factor high. I liked this property for what it was and I would stay here again if my reason for coming to Kaua'i was for anything other than a higher end resort experience. I'm sure there are even cheaper places to stay on this island but then again, I don't think that the Salvation Army has a loyalty program or a koi pond.

We were locked out of our room (cottage 3121) for forty five minutes yesterday, because the battery to the outside door lock died. Then, later that evening, we had to call maintenance again because the inside lock is broken. 4/30/26: we decided the price was not worth this crap hole. When we went to check out and cancel our week reservation, they didn't even try to remedy any situation. We are Diamond Hilton member's and there are pretty much zero perks for us loyal customers. Still had to pay $25 a day for parking! Like....come on. Pro: bed was comfy We ended up booking a airbnb instead. So we'll be paying a little more for our trip, but its worth it. I would seriously avoid this property if you can. But if you are on a budget, it might be okay. Make sure to look at all of the reviews!!!!

This is probably one of the best and easiest airports I've been through. I live next to Long Beach,…read moreand that's usually my go-to when I need an easy airport to fly in and out of, but Lihue is definitely a close second. My only real complaint would be going through security. It was very hot--they had fans, but with the humidity in Hawaii, it still felt intense. Once you get into the terminals, though, there's air-conditioning, and it honestly feels like a relief if you're not used to that kind of humidity. The staff was very friendly, and the airport itself was easy to maneuver. I also found it simple to grab a shuttle to and from getting a rental car. Plus, there's a Starbucks located inside, which was convenient while waiting. The bathrooms were also clean, which I really appreciate--especially when you're traveling. Another win: there were plenty of places to plug in and charge my computer before we took off, which made the wait a lot easier. The only other thing I wish there were more of: food options. It seemed like there was really only Starbucks and one other restaurant. Prices were pretty high too--like $8 for a spam musubi and close to $10 for a Costco hotdog. If you might have a wait before boarding, I'd recommend bringing snacks or your own food. Overall, it's a smooth, user-friendly airport--just plan ahead for the heat at security and limited food options.
