I've gotten the same attention whether I was buying two screws or a new Weber grill, and no one has ever tried to upsell me. My most recent experience was buying, yes, a new Weber grill from Jim Carmalt. He was exceptionally knowledgeable about every aspect of their stock and how best to use it. It was almost like talking to an old friend who had my best interest as a high priority. I thin of Village Hardware as sort of the anti-Home Depot/Loew's, I get personal service of a high order and always leave confident that I have a high-quality product and even higher quality advice. There's a reason it's a local institution and legend. Yes, it's way smaller the the "big box" companies you know of. Brown's doesn't have everything they have because of size. But they have just about everything you truly need and can get it for you if it's not in stock. No wandering around endless isles with no help to help that's helpless. It's a small parking lot. Rarely full because your in and out so quick whether you need help or not. They're not open on Sunday and close a little early which is a major inconvenience for those who work a regular weekday hours. Doubt that's gonna change. I figured this was the case since the line to the self check out registers was sxrynpeople deep. I did manage to get two small extension cords, some duct tape, and other small screws that I needed to install shelving. This store was definitely bustling for a Saturday morning. The Greeter person at the front of the store was kind enough to direct me to the restrooms, and he even gave me the restroom code to get in. The shopping experience was fairly normal except for the extended wait to check out. I also noticed that they did away with the paid registers where there would normally be a cashier.
