Quick and easy! Needed to get a "Do Not Duplicate Key" copied. Called ahead just in case and spoke with a lovely gentleman who walked me through the process. I had a memo from my landlord to get the key copied, but I didn't end up needing it! I showed up and was in and out in about 3 minutes. It was the same guy from the phone and again, he was very nice and efficient. Since the key was a Do Not Duplicate key, they have you sign a waiver, but they will copy it for you with no problems. Came in to get my "Do not duplicate" keys made for the office, again... 'But for the first time, here. Our company's president has an issue with his key "not working." The odd thing was after I just walked in, everyone just looked @ me like I was abruptly interrupting a secret Illuminati meeting. - Awkward. The two behind the counter and even Mr. United looked @ me with an expression of, "What are you doing here?!" Yeh, weird. I thought, a guy walks into a locksmith shop... Hmm, maybe he's here for scrapbooking supplies? LOL - There I was standing just inside the door and these three cats are just all gathered around gawking @ me. So, naturally, I stood there quietly & returned my default, "dead face." No expression, no raised brow, just Stonewall Jackson all day... 'Ladies & gentlemen, we have achieved dead face. (Trust me, it's no easy feat because I want to laugh my @ss off but it was something I learned to develop when I was doing stand up comedy.) It must've been five seconds where I simply stood there with my lifeless face. FINALLY, one of the workers behind the counter asked, "How can we help you?" YES!!!... 'And we have a winner! There you go, that's how it is done! That is the right response when a customer walks in to your place of business; not merely just staring at them in silence. LOL - Sometimes it also preceded by a hello or good morning but this will do. - I thank you for playing the game of operating a business! If we stood in silence any longer, I was going to start playing charades and have them guess why I was there... 'Maybe to get a copy of keys?... 'Ya think? HA! I told him that I needed one copy of two keys; simple & straight forward. Total time; five minutes tops. I made sure to request a receipt to be reimbursed by the company. After the keys were made, the employee even highlighted the receipt. Hey, I appreciate the fact that he was actually listening and acknowledged that point by highlighting the total. (Thumbs up) On occasion, I need dock/boat keys made for the yacht club. I may give these guys a try the next time I'm in the area. Hopefully, I won't have to play "dead," or bust out any pantomime skits - (I hold up two fingers) "Okay, two words; here comes the first word... 'Sounds like tree." This is a shout out to Cory with the Airport Lock & Safe team. Our office received a report about a homeless man making a drinking den out of our office building's exterior electrical room. Cory came out, assessed the door and it's hardware and called with recommendations and pricing. He ran back to his shop and came right back to fix our security concerns. He installed an auto-closer, a tamper-proof plate over the latch, and rekeyed the door. He was quick, efficient, and solved our issues all in one day. I never realized how hard it is to find a good locksmith. Who would've thought getting copies of a few keys made would be such a huge pain in the a**. I initially tried Lowes and Home Depot and they both said that they didn't have the key blanks for the padlock keys I needed copied. So I tried reaching out to a few locksmiths on Yelp but a lot of them only had mobile trucks or only worked off appointments, and at least one said the job was too small. Too small? Dude, I just need some keys made...and you're an advertised locksmith??? Luckily, I found Airport Lock and Safe via Yelp. The place is diagonally across from the Main St parking lot at John Wayne Airport. First off, they actually have a brick and mortar store. It's kinda refreshing in this day and age of Internet commerce to find a brick and mortar store. Secondly, they take walk-ins. No appointments necessary just to have some keys made, and they literally have a giant wall full of key blanks so rest assured they'll probably have the key blank you need. Anyways, the guy who helped me out was prompt, professional and super friendly. Got in and out with my copied keys in less than 10 minutes and he even hammer stamped the copies with the letter corresponding to the labels on my original keys. Definitely as good as it gets! Just opened up an office in Newport Beach, company supplied the furniture. Unfortunately, most of the filing cabinets and desks didn't have keys! Gave Airport Lock and Safe a call with the description of my problem, they said to come on in! Met Matthew at their office, he immediately knew the solution and let me know that he'd order the correct tumblers and the giddup I needed. Matthew sent me an email 2 days as promised to let me know the keys and tumblers for the office furniture were done and ready for pickup! -Pricing- Roughly $120 for 5 key tumblers and 6 keys for the office furniture! This is one of the few places in Irvine that has a FULL SHOP, not just mobile trucks. I had to get some keys copied onto some custom blanks, and NOBODY in the area does it besides these guys. I spent a good chunk of the day trying to copy a small patio key. After going to Lowes, Home Depot, Ace Hardware and other key machines I was about to just give up. As some reviews have noted, THIS IS AN ACTUAL KEY/LOCK SHOP. Finally, somewhere I can have my key copied without having to call any mobile key/lock companies. Like other reviewers, tired going to Lowe's first but was told that they could not cut the blanks I had, since I had not purchased the key through Lowe's, even the saleslady said their machines was not that accurate.
