We are not new to Airs. We were customers when they were located on Chestnut St. The service was good and we purchased from them Marvin then was the owner. Fast forward to a huge showroom on Washington Ave. We purchased a dishwasher there. We were in the market for a non ducted range hood. We arrived on a Monday morning and saw five people around a circular desk in the center of the store. They did try their best to ignore us, but I broke in and asked, "Is Marvin here." Marvin was out as was their other salesman. "Are there any ductless range hoods on the floor?" "No." We walked around and left really puzzled. No one there to sell? They are adding more square footage to the showroom floor. Why? No one to service customers on a Monday? On Tuesday, I contacted Marvin who was very busy. I had a specific need, a 36" ductless range hood 16" in depth. Marvin said he would get back to me. I talked with him on October 5, 2021. I never heard back from him. Prolog I did my own research on the web. I found a Kobe hood with the exact features I needed. At The Home Depot, it was $200. cheaper than any of the appliance websites. Excellent service from HD and it arrived from CA in one week. Do your own research and you can find what you want at a much better price. On one item, Airs was just $100. cheaper on a high ticket item. Enough said. read more

I was recently in this store just looking around for my kitchen that I'm thinking of remodeling. A man approached me to help, & I was totally honest in saying I wasn't making a purchase that day or in the near future (I didn't want to waist his time) - but he didn't care, & was still so interested in helping me & guiding me in the right direction for if & when I was ready to make a move. He was so incredibly knowledgable & honest, it was seriously a relief to other experiences I've had in similar situations. When I'm ready to make that move on my kitchen, I'm am DEFINITELY going to purchase my appliances from him at Airs!! Ps... I bought a refrigerator here about 14 years ago and was very satisfied with the service. So, when that died, I did some research, so I knew what I wanted, and went back to Airs. I live in Center City, so it was convenient and I like doing business with privately owned stores when possible. This time, my experience was totally different. When I walked in, there was nobody in front. I waited a few minutes. Finally, a man came out. He didn't say anything, but just stared at me. Finally, I said I'm looking for a refrigerator. At that point, I knew they weren't getting my business. I don't shop in stores where they are doing me a favor by taking my money. But, I asked whether they had this particular refrigerator on the floor. They didn't. He went to the back to check the price. It was $500 more than at the big box stores. As I said above, I like doing business with privately owned stores, but within reason. But, even if the price had been close (within $100), with that attitude, I would not have purchased it there. Hint to owners of private businesses, bend over backwards to get customers. Yes, you have to charge more. But, make a potential buyer not care about that. read more

Service here is appalling. They are the service people for IKEA Whirlpool products. We had a hood break just 2 months after being installed. They came out and promptly diagnosed the problem and ordered the part. Unfortunately, it took a month for them to come put it in and it did not fix the problem. The guys then diagnosed the issue, but expressed some concern over part availability. We did not hear from them for 6 weeks only to be told the part is no longer available and the hood would need to be returned. Whirlpool would send them a refund check and they would come pick it up. This was 4 months ago. Numerous attempts to track them down and get them out. At one point we were told they could not find the check. Finally had an appointment this morning at 9 am to come deliver the check and pick up the hood. Took off the morning to be here. Texted with the tech as he was on his way. Texted me back that no one can find the check and he would be glad to come get the hood. I told him "no check, no hood". This has been going on for over 7.5 month and still do not have a functioning hood. read more

I walked into Airs unsure of if I could afford a new range for my mother (she's really old school and didn't want any of the newer ranges). After some looking around I was approached by a very knowledgeable sales person who was able to help me find a range I thought was perfect for my mother. I was able to put it on lay-a-way for a few months without any monthly payments being due. You pay what you can when you can. When it was time for delivery I was more then please with their very professional delivery men. They even checked all the burners to make sure my unit was working properly! I will be going back to Airs whenever I needed a new appliance! Don't waste your time at those Big Box stores, just go to Airs and they'll take care of you! read more

SUMMARY During my kitchen remodel I have had two different phone calls with the most lovely and helpful sales people at Airs. I was excited to find such a great local place. When I went in this past Saturday ready to purchase either a Blue Star or Capital range, my husband and I were so disgusted by the arrogant salesman that we left without buying one. Below I have outlined some of the rude and unhelpful exchanges we had with this sales man. And, although he didn't have the energy to put into giving us real answers to our questions he had plenty of time to crack out his phone and show us pictures of his own Capital range and everything he has cooked on it, and why he is such a great cook. Thanks for wasting our time sir! If this is how you treat someone when they are shopping and might give you there business, how do you treat a customer once the sale is made and they have a question or need help with something? I know if I went back I might be able to get a better sales person but I am so utterly disgusted by the lack of customer service that I now don't want to give them my business. **** DETAILS Question: "Tell us about the service and repairs for Blue Star vs Capital - Who does the actual repairs?" Reply: "These are high end appliances, there is nothing that can go wrong and you will never need a repair." I tried to explain that there are still things that can go wrong and described some of the problems I had read about online. He told me I was reading too much on the internet. Question: "What do you clean the surface of the stove with when food gets burnt or caked on?" Reply: "Food cannot get stuck on the surface of a range because it doesn't get hot. The only part that is hot is the actual burner so there will never be anything to clean up." I explained to him that we are certain we will have messes on top of the stove that will need more than a paper towel to wipe up but he told us that was just not true. What universe does this guy live in? Then he told us he uses oven cleaner and WD-40 to clean the top of his stove. Dude, you just said you have nothing that needs cleaning but then you have to use incredibly toxic cleaners? What if you have kids and don't want to blast those chemicals? Again, snotty rude comment from him that he didn't know why on earth we would have food that would get on the stove top. Question: "I have heard that the doors on the Blue Star ranges can get extremely hot and people have gotten burnt on them. Have you ever had any problems with this?" Reply: "Well if your kid burns a hand on the oven door, they are only going to do it once because it will teach them a lesson." I heard him saying the same thing to another couple in the store with their toddler. The woman and I later exchanged whispers about how awful this guy was. Question: "What is the difference in size between the insides of the ovens?" Reply: "They are all the same." Question: "They don't look all the same. Don't you have something with information about the measurements?" Eye rolls and BS answer. read more

2.5 days ago my Bosch washer died. It put in a solid 10+ years and it was done. I called Airs major downtown competitor and they said $1,300 and a week to get it done. Marvin who owns Airs said $200 less and 36 hours to get it done and they got it done! Nice guys delivered my washer 1.5 days later, on time, 40 minute install and they showed me how to run it. I canceled my order at AJ Appliance who then called me and yelled at me saying I had obviously purchased an inferior machine--Bosch didn't think so when I registered warranty. The moral of this story is--give you business to Marvin and his team--they really do get it done fast, right and at a great price! read more

I like supporting independent businesses and was looking forward to getting new appliances from AIRS since they are nearby. The ordering process was easy but delivery was another story. I was charged $525.00 for delivery because the guy had to take off the door leading to the basement. He left finishing nails which he had extracted on the floor and damaged the wall so that the door does not close well. The dryer I purchased made loud banging noises so I reported this to Marvin who was quite defensive and condescending and said to call GE repair. For a brand new machine! (Delivery guy had also forgotten a piece to join the stacking washer and dryer, had to come back the next day to attach that plus one of the warranty papers...inefficient and sloppy to say the least.) GE repair guy came today and said the banging noise resulted from damage done to the body of the dryer during delivery. He was able to fix it. Will never buy another thing from AIRS Appliances. Sheisters. Too many other efficient, reliable, professional companies around to put up with being rooked $$$$$$$ on a delivery that resulted in damaged goods. read more

About 10 years ago, I purchased 2 major appliances from Airs Appliances at their Center City location and decided to visit the new showroom on Washington Avenue when my Bosch dishwasher needed to be replaced. This was one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made as a shopper. I can honestly say that my visit to the new Airs Appliance showroom was one of the worst experiences in some 40+ years as a consumer of household appliances. First, there is no showoom per se. The new Airs facility consists of a small office tucked away in a remote corner of a larger, fully equipped plumbing supply warehouse. Second, almost nothing is on display. The old Airs facility in Center CIty was a fully equipped showroom with lots of models of refrigerators, stoves, and other appliances. The new location has a few examples of kitchen applicances installed in a small section of the larger plumbing supply warehouse. Third, and most important, customer service is non-existant. I visited the "showroom" at mid-day on Thursday, 30 July 2020. I was directed by people in the plumbing supply showroom to a small office in the back which contains two desks with computers, and a collection of office equipment. There is no waiting room for customers and there is no service area with brochures and product information on the appliances. When I arrived at around 12 noon, a young man was exiting the small office, and he pointed to another older man who was sitting, WITH HIS BACK TO THE DOOR, at one of the desks in the middle of the room. The young man told me that the other person would "be with you soon." I stood in the doorway for about 10 minutes and the salesman on the phone never looked up from his computer screen or away from his phone call to acknowledge my presence. I turned around and went into the main showroom, and asked for help from one of the other salespeople. A young woman suggested that I look at some of the appliances on display while she went into the Airs office and tried to unshackle the Airs salesman from his phone call. Her efforts were to no avail. After about 20 minutes of waiting, I went into the Airs office, walked past the salesman, and stood in front of him while he continued to talk on the phone. The salesman saw me, but he did not acknowledge my presence. The correct thing would have been for him to put the phone on hold, smile, and say to me, "Hello there. Glad to see you at Airs. I'm helping another customer right now. Can I offer you a seat in the corner of our office while I wrap up this call, or can we arrange to meet at another time? Would you like a bottle of water while you wait?" Apparently, this salesman got an F in his community college courses on customer service. As I said, he failed to acknowledge my presence, totally ignoring me as I stood in front of him. After being treated like an invisible non-entity, I walked out of the Airs "non-showroom" and out of the plumbing supplly warehouse. Buyer Beware: Don't go to Airs Appliances, EVER. read more

I ordered and paid for an air conditioner on 20 August and was promised delivery "in a few days". On August 26th I was told (after 2 calls) that I would have it on August 27. On the 27th I was told it was "in our New York warehouse". Are they liars or just incompetent? I had to cancel the installer i hired! read more

I called these guys to ask about a repair for my washer (seriously I will do anything to avoid the spring garden laundromat). They don't do repairs, but the person I spoke to on the phone went out of their way to look up a repair person for me. If I do have to buy a new washer, I'm going straight to Airs. read more

Pretty challenging to buy appliances here. I came in knowing exactly what model and brand I wanted. They had something similar but not exact on the floor. When I inquired about the model I wanted, the woman wrote down the model on a piece of scrap paper and disappeared into the back for 5 minutes. She emerged to tell me she couldn't find one of the models at all, and the other one wasn't in stock. I asked if she could recommend something similar, and she proceeded to pull out an iPad and scroll through an endless list of random options; it was clear she didn't really know anything about the brands or the models, and was more interested in selling me what she had. She was very nice the whole time, but it was clear that buying here was going to be more trouble than it was worth. My recommendation would be to go to Lowes.com, search for the store nearest you, see what they have in stock, and then just go to the store to buy it and arrange delivery. That worked well for me. Oh, and definitely don't go to Home Depot EVER...those guys don't care at all about customer service and every time I've been at a store it's been clear the employees wished I wasn't there. read more

I love the fact that Airs has its own delivery and installation crews. The big box stores use third-party installers who don't give a damn about customer service (and who are often incompetent). My whole family has bought appliances from Airs and we've had great experiences and like what we've bought. (stovetop and fridge) We like to stay local and since we live about a mile away this is as local as it gets. But recently the best thing happened... I thought I was in need of a new washer and dryer. They sent a consultant and it turns out we don't have the proper wiring for the brand I wanted. I was all set to purchase something different and lesser than what I wanted and they told me honestly that it wouldn't really be of a higher quality than what I already have. They could have easily made a sale based on my ignorance but they chose to be forthright and give me good advice(I will repair the old dryer).That goes beyond good service. Airs has a good showroom where you are able to check out a number of brands. The sales people, especially Harvey, are helpful. But when it comes to ordering and delivery Airs comes up short. You can get better prices elsewhere (Lowes, Home Depot, HH Gregg, PC Richard, etc.) so if you decide to go with Airs as an independent you will want to do your homework before you buy and demand that Airs matches the best price you can come up with. Also be sure to ask in advance about availability and delivery dates; we didn't and found ourselves 4 months after ordering still waiting for the appliances to arrive. We felt that once the sale had been made, Airs did not work hard to ensure that the appliances were delivered in a timely fashion. We had to continually follow-up about delivery and were given several dates that were not met. Bottom line? Be careful. We prefer to deal with local independents, but we won't use Airs again. read more

A great experience from search through delivery and installation. Marvin was exceptionally knowledgeable regarding the various makes and models of the appliance we needed to replace. The price quoted was competitive and next day delivery was assured. The delivery team was great. They called 30 minutes or so ahead to alert us our delivery was next. Our house presents a challenge for moving large items in or out. The two gentlemen were unfazed, efficient and courteous. I've used Airs Appliances 2009 and was so satisfied that I used them again in 2011. I like to support local businesses as it's hard to find highend appliances in the city. I am throughtly pleased with their service and knowledgeable staff. I was shocked that their prices were lower than a major retailer--saved $300 on my Amana fridge. If there's a problem they are there to recify it which is more reassuring than dealing with a huge retailer. It's great visiting a retailer with the better apliances to see them up close. Also, I was given great advice about kitchen renovation as I was having mine done in 2012. I did as the salesman directed and put a deposit on my F&P dishdrawers to insure it's availability for installation. Both items at both times arrived in factory packing. read more

No call ahead to alert about delivery of 3 appliances.3 Delivery Men just appeared off the condo service elevator at my door. Rubber tile floor scratched and very little clean-up done. Plastic covering around steel fridge was not removed although tag from manufacturer mentioned that before use it should have been done. Fridge was placed, where at the time, I could not have seen this tag warning. Fridge was then balanced in place. I did not see tag until the next day.I had to move fridge myself. If anyone has ever removed plastic covering from a steel fridge will agree that it was a daunting task. I moved fridge back in place where it had been balanced. Since then, fridge keeps running and manufacturer's booklet mentions that fridge is not properly balanced causing it to keep running. I will not mention something else that happened and could not believe that it took place. I phoned Marvin the next day about having someone come to check to see the correct balance to the fridge. He said that he would get back to me. It has been 2 days and no reply. I have been a long time customer over many years and always received good customer treatment. I sent customers to shop there. The fridge keeps running. I have my doubts about future shopping at Airs and sending others to do so. Other Reviews which I read also mention very poor customer service and delivery problems. Those writing the good Reviews were more fortunate about their experiences than I. I debated about this review, but friends and neighbors said that I should do so to prevent others about making a decision to shop at Airs. read more
