Sushi Ai is one of my go to spots for sushi platter takeout. I keep coming back because it's good value and really easy to order online. When you pre order, pickup is fast and convenient, which makes it great for quick in and out sushi. I almost always get the 40 piece mixed platter because it gives a perfect balance of nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, which is great if you want a bit of everything. The quality can be a bit hit or miss though. Some days everything tastes very fresh and well made, while other times the tuna and tilapia aren't as good as expected. It's not terrible, just inconsistent depending on the visit. Even with that, I still come back regularly because the value is hard to beat and it's a reliable option when you want affordable sushi without much effort.
One of our favourite place to get sushi party trays. The fish are usually are fresh, and they come with a good quantity for the price. Usually we pre order it in advance for pick up, and usually the trays will be ready. The environment itself has large seating and their take out are straight forward and easy to get to.
We have the AYCE dinner. Food is good. Good selection and good quality. Beef tongue was tough. I can't chew it. The front reception service was bad. They pretty much ignore you for a long time before they acknowledge your existence. I hope the owner addresses this, it really gives a poor first impression, some would have just left. I was guessing some of the staff were not assigned to seat customers but they should acknowledge the customers and tell the customers that someone will be with them shortly. But instead, all the other staff at the front stared at you but did not say anything which was quite rude. Ambiance was fine but when the place was half empty, they had to put us at a table by the front door. When asked to be seated more inside of the restaurant, they said those inside tables were for more ppl. But I saw tables for smaller group. They are just making up excuses or just pure laziness. Overall, food was good but with poor service I am not sure if I would return.
Excellent chicken teriyaki (dark meat) at this location! Generous portion size and well seasoned. The rice was also a good portion. The California roll was good and came with the good wasabi, the better pickled ginger and soy sauce. The Seaweed Salad was also great as are the stir fried veggies. We tried the chicken pad thai which surprisingly came with quite a bit of protein. We were quite impressed by this. Service is quick.
Good value both ayce and take out. The sushi for the ayce don't hit as good as the takeout, maybe because the pieces are so huge.

For a special occasion, my family and I reserved a table for 8 around 5:30 pm. It was a good call on our part, before after our two hour limit at 7:30 pm, the place was PACKED. We got seated in the back, where (I believe) was actually the best seating in the house since we got our own little private corner. This table was a mix of chairs and bench seating, which we liked. Overall, I'd say this was one of the best AYCE experiences I've had in a long time. The quality of the food itself was good and tasty. Things I especially liked were the fried tofu (the sauce was delicious), the cheese wonton (which came out piping hot!), The sashimi pieces (which were very thick and fresh), as well as the handrolls (one of my favorites when it comes to sushi but always too expensive at à la cart so I get it at AYCE). OH, I almost forgot to mention their pork tonkotsu ramen which was on point! It tasted very similar to the ramen you go out for, as it had the same type of noodles and a very creamy, flavorful broth... Just mini-sized! Too cute. The thing I was most pleased with is actually their ordering system. At many other restaurants, we always fall into the issue of big groups surrounding one or two iPads, which made the whole process very tedious. Here, they give you a QR code to scan and connect to their wifi, then another code to scan to reach their ordering system, specific to your table. This meant that everyone was able to connect on their own devices (i.e. phones) to order. This made the process more efficient so you didn't waste your two hours waiting for your turn on the iPad. Following that, the food also came out very quickly. Service was also great. Most (if not all) of the staff were masked, while also providing friendly and efficient service. I appreciate that the servers were very responsive. The price point was quite good I'd say as well. It was $38.95 per adult since it was the weekend, but if you come Monday to Thursday, you can get the AYCE for $35.95. Do note, they also do takeout like their other locations, which I always hear good things about. But yes, this is their only AYCE location. Brief mention, the washroom was small but clean. There were two stalls, one bigger for better access.
Very spacious inside. Not bad decor. Not bad service. Not bad food. Sushi is okay. Their karaage is more like a Taiwanese popcorn chicken. I did, however, loved their skewered cow tongue. Loved the taste and the sauce with it so much that I ordered seconds. The only thing we did not like was having to join their wifi in order to access their menu via QR code. That's not safe and that's not right. So if I did not have a cellular, I wouldn't be able to dine there? Weird. Also, no offence to the folks who live in that area, but Markham Rd. and Sheppard Ave. is quite an unusual region to locate such a sushi 'all-you-can-eat' establishment. When we were finished, I high-tailed it outta there.
This is my second time ordering takeout from Ai Sushi and I'll continue to go back to this place. The restaurant was pleasant and had a lot of space, and their service was fast. I ordered the Saba Sashimi and Alaska Sushi. Their portions are big which was very nice. (1) The Alaska Sushi had a balance of savoury and sweet. It had a crunchy texture from the cucumber as well. I wish there was more smoked salmon as the creaminess of the crab overpowers the smokey flavour. (2) It's my first time trying Saba Sashimi and I was impressed. It wasn't fishy as other people have told me before. It was flavourful with the notes from the vinegar marinade and umami. P.S. They only accept cash or debit.
I've always only ordered the platters to go, but this time I enjoyed AYCE dinner with some friends. I did not bring my toddler, but it was spacious enough that I feel it safe to bring children to dine in. Food: 5/5 - The sushi and cooked foods were superb! The sashimi was thick cut as I'm accustomed to from their platters. - Their mango yogurt dessert could have used more mango, as ours only had a small dot of it. I've had places fill the whole top layer with it, but we did order a lot of them. Service: 5/5 - Order via QR code after signing into their connection, limit 2 devices to order from, but I believe no limit on devices that scan to view the menu. - They thoughtfully provided a bottle of hand sanitizer for patrons to use at each table during these covid times. - I got a green tea and the teacup was leaking, but that was quickly rectified and they considerately brought more napkins without my asking. Environment: 3/5 - The washroom was clean but did not have paper towels (I believe there was a blow dryer), and I generally like to open the door with the paper towel after drying. - Occasionally throughout our dining experience, I believe they were mopping around tables near us, the cleaning agent smelled very strong but fortunately dissipated relatively quickly.
This AYCE place is more expensive than other places that offer a lot more options. Food arrives in a good amount of time. Taste is also ok for the items you get. Many times they will get you some things that you order, but also miss a lot of things. The decor was pretty nice inside, very spacious and many seating. Service is also ok. I don't think I will return here. I will go to other places with more options of items, this place had too many rice items and noodle items compared to other AYCE places.
My partner and I were came here to buy some time for the movie we paid to go watch later on. We were going to go in for a la carte but decided on AYCE right at that moment when the host asked us. When the sashimi came out, we were very surprised with how thick the cuts of the fish were, they were as thick as my finger (I took a photo as well to show the audience haha). Sushi was fresh, made in good portions and was overall tasty. Service was prompt, people were actively bringing us food while taking our finished plates. Maybe this place is one of my top locations for sushi, too. Not a bad decision to come here at all, I would for sure come back and bring my family for them to try!
AiSushi hits the sushi cravings spot for a reasonable price. Though typically an AYCE restaurant, their sushi is pretty good. We got a mixed platter. All the fish was fresh. Sushi rice was decently formed and well seasoned. The salmon was quite soft. I like that you get raw scallop which is not typical for most sushi platters. The scallop is quite fresh and tasty as well. Rolls as well formed, and seasoned as applicable. Ingredients inside are tasty and work together. Price: Pretty reasonable for a platter, probably the best value by quantity and quality per dollar. AiSushi is definitely a place to go to if you're craving sushi at a good price.
Came here on a Tuesday night for the all-you-can-eat sushi and WOW, it as so good. I tried so many things that I've never had and everything was delicious. You scan the menu at your table and just keep ordering things. We definitely ordered more than $38 which is what we paid and we got a large variety of different items. The mango pudding was so decadent and delicious. We got there around 5pm and it wasn't that busy but by the time we were leaving at 7:30pm, it was packed. Our waitress was so nice and helpful. My only complaint was they didn't pick up the dirty dishes in a timely manner. At one point we had at least 10 dishes that needed to be picked up. read more
Came here for an all-you-can-eat sushi dinner, and overall it was a decent experience. The food was fairly standard, nothing extraordinary, but everything was satisfactory and well-prepared. The servers were friendly and provided good service throughout the meal. I particularly enjoyed the skewers and the salted grilled saury fish, which were nicely seasoned and full of flavor. While it wasn't particularly standout, it was still a solid and enjoyable dining option. I would recommend it for a casual all-you-can-eat sushi experience. read more
Ai sushi has always been my go to for ordering take out for sushi. This was my first time dining in at the actual restaurant and I was so surprised of how big the restaurant is. The decor and vibe is so nice too. I came with my family on a Saturday and luckily we decided to have dinner around 5:30 because it gotten so busy afterwards. We did AYCE. There were a wide variety of food and dessert choices. All the food was fresh and delicious. I just found the fried dumplings way too hard, it was over fried. The service was amazing, the waiters/ waitresses were attentive. It was definitely a satisfying meal. read more

I usually come here to get their platter series for take out. They portion sizes for the price are pretty good and your order is usually ready in 20 minutes which is way faster than their Markham location. Everyone knows what to expect with these platters and they've been consistent every time we've gotten it. You can order online or phone in ahead of time. I tried their AYCE dinner once and had a good experience. The ordering system is really efficient: connect to their wifi, register your table (QR code), then order through your own device. The menu is quite large. All our food came promptly, the hot food was cooked well, and everything we ordered arrived. Some of the sushi rolls we ordered that have fish in it were definitely the off cuts since they were really chewy or fibrous. Service was very friendly. There's also a discount if you pay with cash. read more

My family always orders their platters for takeout. It's the best around, big portions and pretty good quality. There's been a couple times service wasn't the best, both front staff and sushi chefs. My takeaway is to always order for pick-up earlier than when you're actually picking up because they're not always consistent. read more

I've been to soo many AYCE Japanese Restaurant and this is our #1. We only do go here on special occasion cause it's one price only, same menu, no lunch or dinner price, so it's high $$. All day price. This place has the most selection I've seen and great selection. I've posted pics of our favorites. Cons: pop or drinks are extra cost (guess it's like this in many restaurants now) but free refill on pop drink, so that's good. read more

I always enjoyed eating sushi and Japanese food! My fav spot for AYCE Japanese food is @aisushi.ca (Scarborough) location. Always fast, fresh and yummy!! They take reservation too, so book ahead and enjoy! What's your favorite AYCE Japanese restaurant? Any must order item(s)? Ai sushi has various locations such as Markham and Richmond Hill. I normally would enjoy a sushi/sashimi platter from those 2 locations. Their portions are generous and definitely a good deal. They used to offer 10% off for cash pick up. Overall, Ai will always be one of my top sushi take out choice. read more

This Ai Sushi Scarborough location is now my to go place to pick up Ai Sushi's party tray. Service here is fast and courteous. Great value for my everyday sushi craving. Pro-Tips: Ask for ice pack if you are picking up your sushi when it is 35 C on a hot summer day. read more
Fair warning I got takeout! I would've eaten in person- I was tempted by the low price for all you can eat, but I decided against it as I was alone. The ambience was very cozy though. Great place for groups or dates. The chicken skewers were decent, had some green onion between each bite to add flavour. The kamikaze roll was just enough for my appetite, the size of the rolls were thick even though only 4 pieces. The octopus sashimi was pretty good, not too tough but tasted fresh. read more
Decent quality sushi platters served really well. This time around i tried the new Poke Bowl. We had the salmon Poke and first impression is the bo is quite small in comparison to competitors. I would say thought the taste and quality was above average. I would give it a higher score if I could if the portion size was greater especially at this price point of $14. Worth a shot but not a hands down repeat for this dish. Sushi and sashimi is more worth it considering their quality here. read more

I usually come here to get my ayce sushi cravings satisfied and for me, they never disappoint. Came here for dinner on a Friday and called ahead to book seats. The person I spoke to mentioned it's not necessary but recommended. When I arrived around 7, it was fairly busy so I'm glad I called ahead. They are diligent with their covid precaution process. They check your passport and even have contact tracing setup via QR code. The process for ordering is also via a QR code and done through your cellphone. As for the service, they are pretty attentive and quick. Food came relatively quick. Them taking empty dishes to make room is pretty quick. So the theme here is that they're quick. And to be fair, the place is fairly packed. About 90% full (based on covid restriction standards). One thing I can point out is that some tables have no plexi glass between them. There are some in the back tables, but lacking at the front and middle area. Now for the food, I can confidently say that the sashimi is the best compared to other ayce place I've been to. The salmon sashimi is THICC. What's good is the fact they use the same ones from their platter. Overall, I will definitely recommend this place. Both for dine in and platter options! read more

We used to frequent this place dining in before the pandemic and the sushi and sashimi are always super fresh! Now we mostly get the takeout party trays from here and the quality is definitely still there. Price wise - very reasonable for the amount and quality you are getting. We will be getting more takeout from here for sure! read more

5 out of 5 stars Ordered a 60 pc platter sashimi, sushi and maki Very fresh and excellent presentation! Sashimi - lot of variety including scallop and sweet shrimp. Sushi - your typical sushi selection, but very well made. Maki - not a lot of rice, there were 5 different rolls. Highly recommend and would definitely order again! read more
Location/Service Opening their third location, this restaurant is in the intersection of Markham Rd and Sheppard, within a plaza. Parking situation is good. This is their first location with actual seating, which can accommodate a lot of people and bigger groups. Interior was nice, incorporating some traditional and typical Japanese feeling to it. Staff were nice, orders came pretty quick as well, esp one of the owners was engaging to collect feedback and make sure we are satisfied. Food Menu items is pretty much the same as the other locations, but they also added a few more Thai/Chinese style dishes. Right now it's a la carte style, which I heard they're changing it to AYCE in the future. Pricing for the sashimi/sushi were reasonable, given with the quality and quantity. Ordered a platter to share along with a few appetizer snacks. I liked the fish was not thinly cut, it was fatty, fresh and meaty. Quality is consistent with the other locations. The squid appetizer was pretty good as well. I hope the quality and consistency continues on, esp when they want to go to the AYCE route. I liked how they still have takeout option available, so perfect for gatherings and parties. read more

Great value for the price. We ordered a sashimi sushi roll combo through Uber Eats. Food took a bit longer than usual for delivery. Food came and we noticed the food was still quite fresh. Not bad. Plus you get quite a bit of food. So all in all. It's alright. read more

Nice atmosphere, really pretty decor and the environment is nice. I also think the value of this place is great. It's nice that they offer AYCE and a la carte, and their platters offer a mixture of rolls/sushi/sashimi for a good price... so you have a bunch of options. The sushi was also pretty fresh! I ended up getting the deluxe chirashidon which was $20 after tax and tips. It had a decent amount and variety of sashimi, enough to fill me up. My friends got the sashimi and roll platter to share, which was $52. It's definitely a good value because it leaves you just as satisfied as AYCE would, only minus the fact that you don't get all the freedom to pick and choose your food (and dessert). The service was also good, as there's a decent amount of servers circulating the restaurant at all times. Overall I'd recommend this place for sushi. I might also come back to order the platters for an event because they're a pretty good price! read more

Take out Trays: 4 stars! AYCE dine in: 3 Stars.. Adults dinner was $35.99 each, was charged for pop, after tax and tip - roughly $96. For the price you pay, the experience was just okay. There are much better AYCE options in Scarborough where I would preferably go to. They give you a paper with QR Codes for the wifi, check in and menu - one person can do this on their phone. There are some glitches to the app which should be addressed. Do nottttt click out by accident. We accidentally did this and when we went back in to order all the items were gone from our cart (we did not get to send it through) So we ordered again , to our surprised the order which was gone suddenly was sent through so the food came twice .. Sushi and some food Portions are massive. There is a decent amount of options but not like other places. Hit or miss with some dishes. Service was good. Place was clean. Sanitizers on each table and the plates and dishes were all wrapped and brought to your table once seated. I will probably only be back here to order trays, not to dine in. read more
