I came here a few weeks ago after a light meal at Sweet Grass. I was told how good the pizza was at Moonspin, so I decided to indulge with a few other Yelpers. Since we had just recently eaten, I split a small with a friend. Let me tell you, the small was still pretty big and we were unable to finish. We ordered the Harvest Moon, which comes topped with artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes, spinach and mushrooms. The pizza was spectacular. The crust of the pizza is thick, crispy, and cooked just right. The pizza came with a thick layer of cheese and some parmesan sprinkled on. The toppings were all fresh, and everything combined perfectly to make one damn good pizza. My fellow Yelpers raved about how good the Green Goddess dressing was. You can buy the dressing to-go by the jar. I was tempted to buy some myself, but decided it against it because of the short shelf life. I still have lots to try in Thomasville, but Moonspin would definitely be a place I would want to return to when I am in the area. read more

It was a beautiful evening and we sat outside and ordered a large Greek salad and a 'moondoggie' pizza. The ingredients in the salad were fresh and crisp and the dressing had a citrusy flavor. This place is outstanding!! We made the road trip to Thomasville when visiting our daughter at FSU. It was worth the drive. The food at Aj moon spin pizza was delicious. The service was FRIENDLY southern and prompt. It seemed like everyone working there stopped by to check on us. We never wanted for anything. The atmosphere was nice and the best thing was the food. We loved our pecan pesto pasta, lasagna and pizza. Everything was from scratch even the pasta tasted fresh homemade. The side salads were large with lots of fresh crisp vegetables and homemade dressings. The prices were very fair. We will be back every time we visit my daughter. What a great amazing place. AJ Moonspin was a yummy treat to have on a Saturday in Thomasville. When you first walk in it's a bit confusing, especially on a busy Saturday. We kind of shuffled around until an employee noticed us. Once we were seated however, we were excited when we saw the menu! I ordered "just cheese" - which was nothing more than a basic cheese pizza. Was awaiting for what appeared to be a good lunch, had a friendly server etc. When the food arrived one of three meals was not the pizza ordered. Long story short the owner appeared and told us she had "reviewed the tape" and clearly we got what was ordered. Owner was quite proud of her surveillance - we told her it was an invasion of our privacy, we didn't realize we were being recorded. The owner came back again with a hot bowl of missing toppings for the now cold pizza. In the end she did comp the pizza. However, the owners condescending rudeness was the WORST experience I've had in a long time! All over a pizza! Was it worth it for the owner of a small business to try to humiliate the guests and her wait staff? We won't be back! Price has gone up--size and quality has gone down. Lunch slices used to be huge. Today I paid $4 for a slice of Hunter's Moon. They told us the slices were smaller than they used to be, but was not expecting it to be this small and with hardly any meat. It wasn't even all that great. read more

My mom and I often make a trip up to Thomasville from Tallahassee when I'm in town just to go to Moonspin Pizza. It's well worth the 50 minute drive. We order two pizzas to go and they last for several days. This last visit, just after Christmas, I had the Harvest Moon pizza with artichokes, and it was incredible. We happened to be in town and were referred by a local to this great pizza joint! To set the tone for this review... it was one of their busiest days as this was the first day of Victorian Christmas, a huge city wide holiday event. It was chilly out, but we sat outside anyway and they had a nice heater that warmed up the area well. We were greeted immediately and had drinks served by the host prior to our waiter arriving at the table. Our waiter also happened to be one of the owners! The "J" in AJ... He was extremely friendly and passionate about his restaurant. The beer selections were good and we ordered an IPA on draft. The breadsticks and marinara are TO DIE FOR!! Seriously some of the best marinara we have ever had. Made in house, it was very fresh and had a wonderful flavor! Breadsticks were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle! We ordered a large half and half pizza... Half Western Moon: a house made ranch base sauce with sliced chicken, bacon and mozzarella. We added mushrooms too... AMAZING flavor. The bacon makes it! Other half: a customer ordered margherita style with their herbed ricotta base (again, very tasty!!) tomato, mozzarella and basil. Extremely good! The pizza was crispy and not soggy, watery or overtopped. Perfect! If we lived here, we would be here every week! Highly recommend! This became one of our favorite pizza places after having it on the Taste of Thomasville food tour a few years ago. We rarely get to have it since we live about an hour away. Wasnt really what I expected. I ordered the cracked pepper fettuccine Alfredo and trust me it was not what I expected it tasted like mush and low quality sauce. The customer service was not it and one particular employee his name was Marquis I think was very rude and would make jokes and even cursed at me. The focaccia bread was about a 1" slice and, it tasted as if it had been sitting out all night. .5/10 wouldn't recommend to anyone. Might as well go to Pizza Hut. read more

My husband and I decided to venture out from Tally for some fun. We headed to Thomasville and were planning on going to a particular restaurant. Apparently, everyone else had the same idea as the line was LONG, so as we parked we came upon this gem! The appetizer special (tomato bruschetta) was excellent, as was the pizza (Honeymooner) we shared. The owners were very attentive to the point of fixing our slightly wobbly table (which was prob due to being a historic building). I grew up in Thomasville eating "Moonspin Pizza" and it has always been my favorite. unfortunately they got new owners and the recipes and prices must have changed. the pizza was not worth the price, and neither was the basil they charged me $4 for as topping or the $3 they charged me for cherry tomatoes on a cheese pizza. $7 is a bit much for toppings, I better be eating gold if you're going to charge me more than $3 for two toppings. that's just the pizza. they seemed understaffed; our waters were never refilled and it took a decade to get the waiter to come over to our table. not a fan of "AJ Moonspin" read more

This is one of the few places downtown that are open on Sunday which is how we came to stop here! It's been recommended to me before so I had great hopes. We sat at the bar and ordered the Moon Over Philly and breadsticks. Unfortunately it was a bit loud and the waitress was having trouble hearing me so just about everything in our order was off. The order of breadsticks were put in as cheese bread, the beer keg for the beer we ordered ran out more than halfway through the second one we ordered, and our pizza was the wrong one. But with that being said they really made up for it and you could tell it was just bad luck! They switched out the bread, didn't charge for the second beer and removed the breadsticks from the bill. The food was really good as expected! The order of breadsticks was huuge and so warm and garlicky. Perfect to dip in the marinara. The pizza was also delicious. Not something we might of ordered but still hit the spot. I can't wait to come back for the Moon Over Philly. It was super busy and they were so kind and I know these were easy mistakes. AJM is great! They're open on Sunday, too, which is incredibly convenient in a traditional town that typically doesn't have anything open on Sunday. The Moon Doggie and Lucky Moon pizzas are delicious! The brunch-time sangrias aren't bad either! Alcohol isn't served on Sunday until 12:30. read more

Great pizza - it's on a sourdough crust! So so good. They have an awesome selection of draft beers, and the wings were unbelievably good too. Only one person in our group had a pasta dish. Wow! My husband was ordering a pizza for the family and had a bad experience. He ordered a pizza but wanted to substitute the green peppers for tomatoes, but they wanted to charge him $1.50 for the substitute. He said it was a substitute of a vegetable not a meat or an additional item. The guy in charge said that was the policy and if my husband wanted to take his business elsewhere then so be it.... allowing a valuable customer to walk out over $1.50 is ridiculous. I would not recommend this overrated pizza restaurant to anyone. They have high dollar prices for low dollar pizza. Also the management is very rude and does not seem to care about their customers. Would rather not have your business then easily provide you with some courtesy and some service. Great Pizza place. Small cozy environment with delicious pizza and calzones. We ordered a 10 inch Honeymooner and an Italian Sausage Calzone. We could hardly finish the pizza, let alone the calzone. In fact it went home in a box and was devoured by my nephew! I loved that they had Broquel Malbec on wine list. Pretty sophisticated for a pizza place. Rob, our server, sat down at our table and visited for a few minutes. He shared history of the town and what we should do during our visit. Rather than say "we are not taking phone orders at this time", the order taker said "hold," put down the phone and I listened to her take multiple orders.
