This year was my kids first year trying snowboarding. I am not a snowboarder so I had no idea about words like "goofy" footed or "regular" etc. long story short, my kids HATED going snowboarding this year because they just could not get it. Their snowboards were adjusted so that they were snowboarding "regular" and they kept falling and could not get it. We ended up going only 4 or 5 times because they hated it so much. Before the last day snowboarding my husband noticed that they were riding a scooter goofy and he adjusted their snowboards according to the right foot they should be on. Needless to say both my boys got it right away the last time we went snowboarding and they ended up loving it. I'm frustrated because we spent SOOOOO much money on skiing passes and rental equipment and it ended up being a trash Season because of AJ sports and their inability to figure out this stuff for first time snowboarders. I went in and complained and they guy just said, "we usually outfit up hints regular when we don't know" and I was like, "well you didn't this time. My husband had to adjust the snowboards himself. " and the guy just kept reassuring me that it was easy to adjust them had we known. I hate this place. read more

Rented snowboard equipment. Picking up on a Friday night was a little slower than I would have liked. But when I did get waited on, the gentlemen set me up with a perfectly suited snowboard package and helmet. Two days of demo snowboard package including helmet was less than $90. I had no problems at all with the equipment. Returning it was somewhat painless. However, the guy looked my board over with a fine tooth comb to make sure there wasn't any damage. I have rented skis and snowboards from this location multiple times and have always had great service. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They are well organized and get you in and out as quickly as possible. They also have great rental prices to save you some money. I previously had rented for a weekend at a time, when visiting from out of state. Now that I live in Utah, I have a season rental from from them. It was super affordable, and they even include free monthly tune ups. Phil at AJ Motion Sports in Sandy provided excellent service. We have shopped and rented from here regularly over the past few years. When my son got new skis and bindings online, they were able to get them mounted quickly and for a reasonable price. After a few times on the mountain, one of the bindings came loose due to the screw stripping out of the ski. We didn't want to move the mount location on the skis, so Phil replaced the skis and had them ready to go in no time. Great business! read more

AJ Motion provided outstanding service for our ski rentals for a 4-day rental over MLK weekend. The staff was very knowledgeable about the large ski selection and how to best pair skis with our skiing styles. Between one adult and two teens, we went with two adult demo packages and one jr demo package, and we were all very pleased with the quality of the skis/boots. I went back twice to swap out my boots to get a more comfortable fit, and the staff was very accommodating, helpful and efficient. The second time, I decided to try a different demo ski with over 24 inches of snow forecast for the next day, and I was thrilled with how the recommended choice (Elan Ripsticks 98) performed. Overall, I would highly recommend AJ Motion. We were deciding between AJ Motion and a competitor with the same prices, but I'm very happy with our decision. Moreover, their Sandy location was super convenient to where we were staying about 10 mins away, and to grocery shopping and other errands. read more

Night and day experience with their customer service. Their morning crew I checked in with was horrific, but the night crew I returned the gear to was outstanding. I was going to give this store a one star due to my check in experience, but because their night crew redeemed my experience I have them a 3. When I arrived at the store in the morning there were 4 workers, my wife and I and two other couples. The two other couples were being attended to, but no one said a word to us or even gave us a glance. I eventually walked up to each of the four workers (one of which was the store owner) and each one told me they were busy and to talk to someone else. One couple left. Now there were 4 workers and four customers. Two were being attended to. My wife and I stood around waiting to be attended to for 25 minutes. Eventually, the one guy who was doing his job finally attended to us after taking care of the last customers. The other 3 workers were simply oblivious and extremely rude. The night crew was extremely helpful, respectful, and great at communication and customer service. They were amazing. So I guess this place is a mixed bag depending on which work crew you run into. It was my fist time ever visiting a rental store for winter sports. Reservations were super easy, reserved online, picked up the day before reservation and dropped off the day after reservation. The staff was awesome, they were all very helpful and super knowledgeable. The rental price for a snowboarding setup was soooooo affordable I was shocked really. I was also shocked that they carried my size equipment, I wear a sz 16 shoe, very hard to come by. Will definitely rent here again! read more

We got some really amazing service. I bought a pair of pants that broke on my first day on the mountain. I returned them for another of the same kind that also tore on my second day. I asked for a full refund and the guys at AJ didn't even blink, gave me my refund and were really polite about it. That wouldn't happen at most ski joints. read more

Not familiar with the gear that they sell/rent, but we reserved a couple sets of skis and did so the day before on their website as they ask, only to find out that when we arrived the store was closed. I called a different AJ Motion Sports location and they said, oops we will have someone up there in 45 minutes. Well I didn't want to miss that time from my ski day so I rented elsewhere. The lied to me as well saying bring down your receipt and we will reimburse you, which when I returned they said they would not do. I will not rent or purchase from them again. read more
