Came in here to get my skis waxed but instead got yelled at by an employee. Really rude service. I asked if they could do a hot wax and repair and the repair employee screams "NO" and then proceeded to yell "WE DO NOT HAVE TIME", continues to curse out employees in the back. He also has issues with a different customer prior to me. If you are planning to get any work done here, I would highly recommend giving at least 2-3 nights in advance for any repair or hot wax. They do support a lot of services but are clearly backed up. read more

I had trouble with my brand new boots while taking them out my first few days and needed to address it immediately before returning home. I turned to Lifthouse and Max completely changed my situation for the better. My inside left boot was causing me a massive rubbing sensation on my arch and all was gone after Max fixed it up! On my second day I injured my knee and I called the store to see if they sold any knee braces. They do not, but the staff was kind enough to do the research and find a place where she bought medical supplies previously- found the name and the address. She went above and beyond to help me out. We flew in from upstate NY and stopped here on the way up to Snowbird to rent skis for my husband and I. I was worried about finding boots that would fit because I have large calves, and skiing is usually not a pleasant experience for me because it is very painful. I went to our local big ski store in NY and couldn't find boots that didn't feel like they were cutting off my circulation. I did lots of online research of the widest and comfortable boots for my problem. I was skeptical that I'd find rental boots that would fit me but the first pair he brought out was the Nordica HF rear entry boots I had been eyeing online and they did! I am actually excited about skiing now. They have a great selection of snow gear for adults and kids. My kids loved the ski lift bench in front of the store and inside as well. read more

We were in Utah for the week skiing Snowbird, Solitude and Brighton. After the first day, my new ski boots were KILLING me. I had bought them online and thought they fit reasonably well when I tried them on at home. After the day of skiing I realized my grave error - purchasing the boots is only the beginning of getting a good (forget great) boot fit. I asked a couple of the ski employees at the mountain and they recommended Lifthouse. We were greeted by several employees who pointed me to the boot department where I met a very nice young guy named Rush. Unbeknownst to Rush, I am a foot doctor (so yeah I should've known better about buying boots online) - I did not tell Rush this fact. I wanted to see what knowledge he had of my foot structure and how he could help me with my boots. Honestly, I was very impressed with his knowledge of the anatomy, physiology and mechanics of how the foot functions especially in a ski boot. He explained how my particular deformity - a bunionette - is causing my problems. He measured my foot, spent time evaluating my feet and boots and my feet IN the boots. He explained exactly what he was going to do to the boots and how it should fix the problem. I came back about 2 hours later and tried on the boots after he had worked on them. Night and day difference. We got another 22" of snow which I was able to enjoy every minute of. Thanks Rush!! And thank you Lifthouse! read more

James was the very most helpful person working behind the rental counter. I came yesterday and rented ski boots and skis for my first day of downhill skiing. I was in pain all day because my calf was super constricted. I came back today to trade the boots. The first guy gave me another pair that fit exactly the same. I was contemplating just staying home. But then James came out and gave me some women's boots that had much more space for the calf. They felt like heaven in comparison! I was so grateful I just wanted to come here and yelp about how helpful and kind and knowledgeable he was. He also helped my son get fitted with the right skis on the first day. The other guys were saying he needed longer, more performance skis. But it was his first day of skiing ever. Again James came to the rescue, fitting our son with beginner skis. We were so grateful. Also the location is hard to beat at the mouth of big cottonwood canyon super easy to get to from any of the 4 resorts in the cottonwood canyons. Every thing was great but Brighton closes at 9 and and they close at 7 I have to make a 45 min drive back because of this.

I have spent Nine Hundred and Nine dollars and 96 cents at the Lifthouse over the last two years. I bought boots, I purchased rentals multiple times, and I have bought socks, hats and I have dragged multiple other people with me who rented from them as well who have spent hundreds of dollars as well. I thought it was great... until it wasn't. I purchased boots from here and spent a good part of 15 hours now in the store alone trying to make them work. I skied on them about 4 times and came back to the Lifthouse each time in complete agony with the front part of my ankle (dorsum) completely swollen on both legs, - red and badly bruised - on the lowest part of my shins, and felt like it had been hit by a ski pole over and over again. I worked with the lifthouse every time to try to make adjustments and I was told that I needed to wear the boots 5-10 times to break them in. I would come back and rent skis from The Lifthouse and try again. Once again I explained this to a different worker from the shop. He recommended that we heat and remold the boots. Knowing I had to fix my boots before my ski trip to Colorado, I knew I had to fly up to Utah again to see what we could do about the boots not fitting right. My ankle was still sore and swollen after over two weeks of being home. I then paid for 2 doctor exams as my shin/ankle was bruised and swollen and I could barely deal with anything touching my shins. I ended up paying for two additional flights to come again and try to refit the boots and make changes to them to take pain off of my front ankle. I had now flown up to Utah twice and met with over four different workers at The Lifthouse and rented skis for four days from them and still had boots that caused me tons of pain. I emailed them and was told... "bring them up and we will get you taken care of with a refund." Then Covid hit. So I flew my wife up in May during Covid and emailed the Lifthouse, but they never responded, not once getting back to me, no email returns, no phone call returns. Covid shut everything down I then paid for another flight for my wife here in April of 2021, and was told they would only give me half price back?!!!?? I have spent money on multiple flights from CA to Utah, hundreds of dollars on other equipment, and yet the Lifthouse won't refund my money or even offer to give me full credit or anything!!??? This has been horrible the amount of time and money and energy. All the Lifthouse had to do to make it right was comp the boots. Ive given you other customers and we have paid for the boots twice over. But I get hung up on when I call into and explain this to Luke. He simply hangs up... come on guys. Do the right thing and make this right. I have brought you the boots back, and was told its been over a year? But you were the ones who never responded to the email. You never called me back when I emailed you and called you multiple times. The only redeeming value about this is that the workers tried to help, but I still have waited and put in over 15 hours in the store and waiting and flights and medical. When someone says they will give a refund... give them the entire refund. This is ridiculous read more

I used to like this store a lot when I lived and actively skied in SLC about 20 years ago, but had an odd experience at their rental shop during a recent visit. I was refused a refund on an equipment returned early on a premise that I did not save a paper receipt. I rented a demo and 3 junior packages for 5 days (total of $466.54 on my card) and mentioned that we may return it a day early. To that, a very nice kid who was helping us, said "oh, don't worry, we will figure it out at the end". I honestly don't remember if I was given any paper receipt. I might have been but it gets hectic in a busy rental shop. When I did bring the gear a day early I was given a strong push-back by two guys, saying that they absolutely have to have a receipt to give me a refund for a day. To the question, why don't they look up the transaction in their computer the answer made no sense to me. They said they had no record of the transaction. Seriously? It is 2022 and I don't remember last time I needed a paper receipt in any store, but in this case this answer seemed simply ridiculous. When you come in, you fill out a computer form with tons of data, including your home address, email, DOB, and credit card information. Every equipment is scanned when checked out and scanned when it checked in. And you say you have no record? Are you saying that if I bring it a day later you will not charge me? If I had to guess, I would say that the nice kids at the counter are trying to get some extra help with their skiing expenses by processing this refund without me, but that would be just a wild guess... For me, it is not about the 90 bucks. read more

If you need boot mods, come here. Fair prices and a family-owned shop who have bootfitters that know what they're doing. Before coming in, I moved the bale over one notch but my L toe was still smashed. Mikey first put my feet in the Boot doctor (stated I'm a 27.0 but I'm in a 26.5 boot) and then marked exactly where I was having pressure points. Came in the first day after skiing and he grinded down the L toe box and gave me extra room in my R forefoot, as I've got wide volume feet and am skiing in a mid-volume boot for better control. I then came in a couple days later after skiing in them a couple days and he grinded down and punched out the areas where my 6th toe was on both feet, and now my feet finally set perfectly and I can finally ski without numbness/pain. Mikey really hooked me up and made my L bloody toe go away for good, can't be more grateful! read more

Just got back from the Lifthouse with a boot fitting from Dan. Very experienced friendly staff. They have a nice oven to help warm up and fix tight spots in your boots. I Appreciate how he didn't rush and carefully looked at my feet/boots and clearly articulated what he suggested and the price. I do not recommend using the renal part of this shop. There selection is very limited. The staff is not helpful at all. They all seemed "high" and really could care less about helping customers. I stopped at the Lift House Ski Shop last week to pickup a ski pass before heading to Brighton--I saved a few bucks and got the opportunity to look around their store a little. Inside the place feels a little congested, it is overloaded with ski and snowboard gear. If you're looking to rent they also have a large rental department that seemed to have plenty of just about everything in stock. The employees I dealt with were friendly and answered my questions. Have shopped here for years as well and no more. One employee was a a total asshole to me and I will never shop there again!!!! I called ahead to get a mount and told the employee on the other end that I did not have the boot but that my friend had purchased the boot there last week. I told them I could not get the boot as it was to be a surprise. They said no problem come on down. I took the time to go down and now the employee with a pony tail - brunette - about 23-26 and 5'9" and today wearing a zip up sweatshirt. Well, he was the one that comes up to me and I told him I talked to someone and was here for a remount and his response was "Sorry I cannot do that no matter what any one told you. And turned and walked off and under his breath said "fuck off" - Sorry you are having a bad day bro. Here is the deal. I have been a ski pro in the Wasatch longer that you have been alive. I have sent 50,000+ in referrals to the lift house. I will never refer this shop again. Just last week her boots and the week before that 2 pairs of skis and boots to another friend. Never again. We ski Alta and Snowbird several times a year and have a vacation rental home just down the street from the Lift House. This is where we go to buy Local Lift tickets to places like Alta, Snowbird, Solitude, and Brighton. When friends come to visit and need ski rentals, the Lift House is where to go. When friends are missing ski accessories or looking to for new snow gear, the Lift House is closest, convenient, and has a great range of quality items. You can likely get cheaper prices for simple accessories by going further and looking for a Target or Walmart. But when the powder is fresh, and time is a ticking to get up the mountain, you usually don't want to waste too much time shopping. The Lift House has all you need to get you going. PLUS, they have a seven eleven right next door where we fill up on gas and get cheap "fancy" coffees. A great location for your early morning pit stop before you start your ski adventure. read more

First run of the day at snowbird. Front foot toe strap loses bolt from center of strap. Can't find screw, really sketchy getting to the base. I returned the board and expressed my concerns. Gentleman in the rental shop say's " you know they have screw drivers up there." Worst rental situation with the most degrading response. Two thumbs down. read more

This is always our pre-snowboarding stop! They sell lift tickets for many of the nearby mountains (Brighton, Solitude, Alta, Snowbird, Park City and a few others). I think they sell them for about $20 cheaper than if you were to buy them at the lodges. I have also rented my board from here. it was $30 for the day for the board/bindings. I liked it because since I rented from them last year, my name was still in their system so they were able to see what size/type of board I used last year. They also sell gear in the shop (like helmets, bags, etc.) along with winter clothing. People here were friendly. The guy who sold us the lift tickets could tell us which lifts were closed at the resorts that we were thinking of going to. That helped a lot. read more

I said "you don't do it overnight"? The guy said "we're backed up...i think we can do it by Friday". Funny I've lived in a ski town for 15 years and never had to wait 2 days for tune. I have been going to the Lift House forever for ski clothing, tune-ups, t-shirts/hats, etc. It is an old-school ski shop and that is a great thing in my book. Their service is always very good. I recently needed to replace my Therm-IC boot heaters and Julia did them for me very quickly and professionally. It's what I would expect at the Lift House and that's why I keep coming back. read more
