Yumm I came here with a group of friends for their happy hour! We got an assortment of foods that were really good! The fries, the ceviche, the sliders, the curry rice, and the beef heart! The server had great recs for the wine and was very knowledgeable about the different kinds!

Find parking on the street..This place is located right on 4th so iykyk! The ambiance is very cozy family style and modern. Our server was so sweet and hospitable. What we ordered: Appetizer: -Corazon (beef hearts) was actually not bad! Marinated and charred to perfection -Papa de la camarones (like a stuffed loaded mashed potato shaped as a potatoe) Entrees: -Lomito saltado -Aji de gallina (creamy shredded chicken w/rice) I love how authentic the flavors are and how unique all these dishes were. I highly recommend

Food Every dish I've tried here has been solid to delicious. Have been twice. I will definitely be back someday. Overall my favorite Peruvian restaurant that I've tried in So Cal. Chips - A nice starter for free. Warmer chips would be an improvement. 4.4/5 Papa Rellena de Carne - 4.4/5 Chicha Morada - A must get. Balanced and delicious. 4.7/5 Corn and cheese empanada - A must order. Flavor bomb. 4.7/5 Beef empanada - Very solid. 4.5/5 Jalea - A big app for a party of 4+. Not mind blowing but solid. The tartar was just okay but the salsa criolla is good. 4.5/5 Ají de Gallina - Very interesting dish that I have not seen before. Very flavorful and creamy. 4.6/5 Pescado a lo Macho - Flavorful but a pinch of salt put it over the top. 4.6/5 Tallarines Verdes - Elevated pasta, very light and balanced. Needed a pinch of salt though. 4.5/5 Picarones - Solid dessert to share. 4.5/5 Service Solid service with good recs. 5/5 Ambiance 5/5

When looking for good food I came across this place and decided to give a try because the reviews were great and all. Came with Family and were a group of 8. We parked in the back and they had a few spots back there but there is street parking as well close by. The place has a cool vibe and loved that it was open on the outside and tables outside as well. As you enter you wait for them to sit you down. We went to have dinner and it's their 5pm-8:30 service time. We got there right when they opened and they sat us down pretty quick. I would have loved to have a copy of the menu's but they had a scan code to see their menu. Later on as more people arrived they asked for a menu and wish that would have been the case for my parents that aren't so savy with technology. We ordered some of their drinks they had and their Maracuya sour was amazing I'll leave it at that. You must get one. Their chicha morada was great and not too sweet. We got a few appetizers and they were delicious. Everything we got from Tallarines verdes, plantains, crab cakes and other items were 10/10 no complaints about that one that stood out for me was their beet Salad that was SO delicious and right up my alley. For dinner we got their Mariscos platter and comes with a side of white rice. Their burger they had on there was different but very flavorful the fact the plantains it had in the burger worked is beyond me, It's a must grab. Their Lomo Saltado is a bit on the pricier side but the quality of meat is fantastic very tender and not chewy at all. Their pollo Saltado was good as well but the other one was better. Love that the fries came separate usually when they come together they are super soggy. Flavor and all it was perfection. Their empanadas were great as well great ratio of meat inside. When it comes to food there are no complaints at all the food is AMAZING. They had one person Taking orders, getting drinks and bringing food out and later another joined. There was a time it did get very busy and felt the service from the waiter got from nice to just MEH and it's as if she didn't want to be there or she was overwhelmed to be honest with the amount of tables she was serving. When it was time to pay this is the part I was thrown off and honestly is keeping me from coming back in a group honestly. Our bill was a bit over $300 and also understandable a party of 6 or more they add the Tip and all that's fine but the fact they didn't let us split the check in 2 was honestly Stupid and I've never seen that before. If they would have disclosed that I wouldn't have came here. It was heavy for one person to just take that cut honestly. When we were at that point in our service and asked for to go boxes she was just plain rude. We asked for small to go's for the sauces and asked for 1 more if possible and straight out she was it's a $2 charge.. it could have been said a different way or just on the house it's a small side of sauce. We had a great dinner and then the service just made us leave not wanting to come back..

Stopped in with a few friends for lunch. It was mostly empty about an hour or so before closing on a Monday. Cozy, quiet and good customer service. Serving all the traditional Peruvian dishes. We started with a couple of pitchers of sangria, very tasty and refreshing. Next on the menu were the empanadas; beef, corn and cheese and chicken, very good. Lastly, the lomo saltado and artoz con marisco. Filling and flavorful.

I've heard many good things about Aji, and I was glad to finally try them! They were pretty empty for Sunday lunch (which I don't mind at all!), so service was quick and kind. We tried their lomito saltado and arrocito norteno. They didn't provide any aji sauce for the lomito (surprising) but were quick to bring some when we requested it. The beef was very tender! So although definitely more expensive than more casual Peruvian spots, we could taste the quality. I also loved the arrocito norteno, as I love seafood paella, and this was basically that. The scallops and octopus were so good! This place is a bit more luxe than the other Peruvian places I've tried before, which is reflected in their price. Although we were there in the day, I could imagine this place being a cute date spot at night. Glad to try this main stay in Long Beach and would recommend for a bit more upscale meal (although no pressure to dress nice at all, just seems like that vibe).

My second time here and it was as great as the first experience almost a year ago. It happened to be last Friday on Retro Row so it brought everyone out tonight. We arrived in the nick of time and got a table right on the patio which was perfect for people watching. Everyone walking up and down for a night of fun, shopping and enjoying the street vendors. It was pretty busy already inside when we arrived but there was an empty table on the patio which we were glad to have. Service was great, same as the last visit. The menu, I believe it's still the same. Amazing dishes that were had and can't wait to have again. We started off with their house sangria and a bottle beer. Sangria was quite tasty but there wasn't any fruit added to it besides a slice of orange as an adornment. Still tasty. Beer was one of the Peruvian beer on hand. Both drink was tasty and very refreshing. They have quite an array of drinks, more on the wine and bubble than the beers which are bottled. For food, a nice selections on starters and mains. Started off with their ceviche which they had a few options to choose from. It was between their classic or the tuna ceviche which is basically something similar to poke. And of course their fried banana (plantain) served with a honey paprika aioli. Plus their chips with cheese sauce was also brought out. Entrees, the chicken linguine and seafood curry. Both delicious. Breakdown for the dishes. -Ceviche Clasico- halibut, leche de tigre, aji limon, onion, cilantro , yams and Peruvian corn. If you like a classic ceviche, this is the one. That perfect fish bite with the sour juice and paired with sweet yams and corn. It was fantastic. Nice big chunks of the halibut. -Fried Bananas (plantain) served with honey paprika aioli. I love plantains but didn't remember the honey dip the last time we were here. It's sweet enough already but does work well with the honey. It's a side dish. -Tallarin Saltado De Pollo (chicken pasta)- chicken saltado with linguine pastas, onions, tomatoes, cilantro and soy sauce. The pairing with soy was great. Not something I would normally think pasta sauce would be but it worked with everything all tossed together. The nice big chunks of tomatoes and big chunks of chicken, it was delicious and pretty hefty in portion. Last time we had the steak version which I highly recommend. -Pescado A La Macho- pan seared grouper fish filet, shrimp, calamari, octopus, spicy creamy sofrito and steamed rice. Another favorite dish that was had both this and last visit. The rich creamy curry and the nice chunks of fishes worked so well together. Everything was perfectly flavorful and delicious with the rice. A must get. The food was excellent. Same as I remembered. The flavors were all unique in its own way. Each and every dish was excellent even the chips with the cheese sauce that was brought out. Nicely thin and a nice crunch to it. Service was amazing as well. It did pick up big time the whole time we were there.

This time we ordered takeout, as finding parking on a Friday evening can be a pain. We ordered the Chicken Empanada and Chaufa with chicken. Both the dishes were outstanding. Empanada were fried not baked, but tasted so good. The accompanying chimichurri was fresh and delicious. The Chaufa was excellent. I could eat it everyday. My must go Peruvian restaurant. Unfortunately, the prices have gone up quite a bit, but I understand how bad the inflation is. Definitely check it out.

    Christina M.

First of all, Rosita is great! She made my first experience here so nice! Rosita is so welcoming & sweet! I came alone so I ordered only Classic ceviche 10/10 Soooo good. Rosita told me in Peru you drink the "tiger's milk" and to not waste it. So I listened of course! Roasted caesar salad 8/10 I usually like an extremely dressed salad but roasted salad sounded interesting and it was good! They give you complimentary chips that tasted like a nice warm lays potato ship with queso haha it was really tasty. Definitely looking forward to coming back with friends so I can try more dishes

The food is always consistent here. The cooks do an amazing job of this, ceviche always flavorful, lomo Saltado perfectly salted. The service is excellent and there is one server who always recognizes us which is always nice gesture. Ambiance is perfectly decorated with a dark but fresh feel with their booming plants. Brings a fresh vibe at the entrance. Pictured: Tallarin Verde with grilled chicken Beef Lomo Saltado Ceviche Classico

Found this spot of yelp and decided to stop by for a bite to eat! The food was delicious. We got the ceviche nikkei that was so flavorful and the tallarines verdes! Very clean and well kept. Only docking a star because the service was a bit slow and unfortunately had a waitress who after calling her multiple times, would look at us and continue her conversation with other customers. Being busy is one thing, ignoring customers is another :-( Aside from that, the other waitresses were kind.

    Tiffany N.

Food is delicious! Portion size is great. We would've liked to stay longer to enjoy some wine but it was very hot and humid. They have ac but they had the sliding doors open to the street. Ambiance is set for a relaxing evening with good food and wine.

I ordered for pick up here and drove to the location fyi i think they gave parking in the back but i parked on the street. The place inside looks very charming. I read over the menu while i waited for my food i think they have some great dine in happy hour specials. For my pick up experience service was fast. I did have to order the green sauce and i did feel like they should automatically include that because what if i forgot. I love the green sauce. I ordered the limo saltado i will tell you that i felt like it was a bit overpriced for Peruvian food in my opinion but it was pretty good to be honest. The menu said the fries were handcut i thought that was nice. I look forward to a sit down experience next. I look forward to trying out other dishes.

    The beet salad was yummy.

Ask the Community - Aji Peruvian Cuisine

What is the attire for this restaurant? Is it classy? Is it up scale?

Like most of SoCal, it's a mix. This is sit-down dining, nice but not "fancy." Some people are very casual (jeans and T); some are more dressed up for dates or girls' night out.

This place is listed today as having outdoor seating. Is it still available? If it is, is it covered or heated? How many people can sit there? / June 8, 2023

Are you open for lunch on weekdays?

Hello Maggie: We open everyday at 5 pm. Lunch only on Sundays at 12:30 pm-3 pm and 5-8:30 pm. Thank you

    Do you take reservations?

    Yes, they do!

    Is there outdoor seating still?

Yes. There are a few tables right out front.

    Is there a dress code?

    Casual

Where is the parking for the restaurant , handicap parking to be exact?

I believe there's parking spaces right behind the restaurant, handicap as well.

Do they have aji verde sauce?

We have huacatay, rocoto and Ají Amarillo sauces

    Is it vegetarian friendly?

Yes - they have a few vegetarian options

    Do they have lunch specials?

Not at this location, but right next door. They have Peruvian sandwiches during the lunch hours.

This restaurant primarly serves Columbian food, which is a Columbian restaurant 90% of the time. 1 to 2 days filipino dinner within the week and the rest of the days is Columbian. From the outside, this place looks plain but from the inside the place was cozy, vibrant and comfortable. The ambiance of modern fusion. Nice bar, clean restrooms and great seating with great Feng shui energy. Ordered adult beverages. Beer , wine, calimansi with added vodka. From the Get go, we ordered chicken wings, pork, fish, coconut rice, beef plate and eggplant dish. Everything was very tasty! All was delicous. No complaints on the food. Presentation and prepared dishes were outstanding! Now comes the Pros and Cons with honest criticism. Pros: 1) Food and drinks are outstanding, no one can object nor disagree to that. Clean restrooms and Clean dining area. Restaurant staff is very friendly and professional. 2) Sip and Paint activities being offered. I find that pretty cool. Cons: 1) Parking is very tight, you snooze you lose. Must get there early to find side parking. If not, you have to settle for street parking on a very busy street. Again, all is pending on the time you come to dine. 2) Service is very slow, even though it was not that busy being a Tuesday. We were seated at 6pm did not start our food order until 6:20sh. By the time everything was served and eaten, we finished at 840pm. There was too much lag time on the dishes being served. Entrees were coming out every 15-20mins. Even though good conversations was taking place, The wait time in-between was noticed for food and drink delivery. Had the entire group discussing why the food that was ordered was taking so long to receive? If you are having filipino night, you must make sure the rice is served first or have it come out with the main dish. Rice should not be served after the main entrees have already been eaten. 3) Dishes are expensive and quantity does not match up to the price value of the meals. $46 for a meat dish that was small. If you are a big eater, you might be dissapointed on the quantity being served. RICE Bowls are very small for $6. Overall, I would definitely come back. Food was outstanding! Customer Interaction is great. If you dont mind the slow service and enjoy the conversation instead, this place is for you! Definitely made for couples on a first date. I would say meals are fancy and yummy, since it is above average pricing, in terms of fancy to a point of pricing. The service did not live up to the expectation. But we are yet to try the Columbian food here! Looking forward to our next visit.!

My boyfriend's brother did the ordering since he's been here a lot. He ordered: Peruvian Cebiche: which was the catch of the day, tiger milk, ahi Amarillo, concha, and sweet potato. Since I was solo, he made it happen -- and that small gesture completely made my experience. That's what great hospitality is about. When there's an opportunity to make a customer happy without negatively affecting anyone else, you make it happen. Michael could have easily just left things as they were, but instead he paid attention, found a solution, and turned what started as a disappointing situation into an amazing Friday night. Sitting outside next to the band with the summer weather and the view ended up being exactly the experience I was hoping for. Michael, thank you so much. I genuinely appreciate what you did for me. Maya Fuego, this is most definitely the type of employee you want to keep around. Someone who sees an opportunity to make a guest's night better and actually takes it. Thank you again, Michael.

This place may have been good once, but it is absolutely terrible and severely overpriced now…read more First off, the menu is now extremely limited to their "bar menu" or "cafe menu" for breakfast. There are not many options or sides to choose from. Had the baby gem caeser salad--not actually a caeser salad, no anchovies, and the croutons were soft and soggy. Even the pickled onions were somehow soggy. Got the sun-kissed NA drink--tasted terrible and looked gross on top. Weird bubbly foam and gross chunks floating on top. The food all came out way too quickly and just seemed like pre-made food. The ambiance was nice, but they have a serious bug problem. All over the entire property there are small little gnat-like flies that bite you. I got bit probably 20 times during dinner alone. On top of it all, they charge a 20% service fee yet still ask for a tip. Mind you, the service was not anything special. Actually, someone brought us waters, and then another person brought us waters again. It was the strangest thing and seemed like he was drunk or something. We also ordered room service and got the churros. Tasted like cardboard, came with the ice cream melted on top so they were also soggy, and I'm pretty sure we're just some frozen food. I was so surprised they could mess up churros that bad. Overall highly do not recommend this place. The hotel is nice but the restaurant is not.
