I will try to keep it short. These guys are talented, honest and have fair prices PLUS are nice people to do business with. We moved from South Tempe to N. Scottsdale several years ago and still arrange to take our cars to AJs Auto Works. Unless it is covered by the factory warranty the cars only go to AJs. Recently I got frustrated working with Scottsdale Infiniti dealer on a warranty item. I dropped the car with Arron and Mike and they fixed my problem the dealer could not figure out. read more

I've been going to AJ's for several years now.. It's best to have an appointment and I have always gotten in and out during the same day or half-day with very good results from a dedicated service team. AJ's is there to help with quotes, reasonably priced repairs and advice as to whether or not a problem part should be repaired or replaced. We all know how tough it can be to find a mechanic who is both trustworthy and competant. After Hill Automotive closed it's doors a few years ago, I figured odds of finding another place to take my various jalopies to without getting scammed were pretty slim. Fortunately, an acquaintance recommended AJ's to me. It's a cozy little family business in Tempe near the mall, and every interaction with them has left me both happy with the work done, and impressed with the level of honesty Aaron and his wife put into their work. A mechanic that won't gouge you for stuff you don't need is incredibly hard to find, and these folks are it. Never once have I received work that didn't need doing. The guys here are always friendly and informative, and if they don't have the answers, instead of trying to feed you a line, they will recommend you to a nearby business that knows about the work you're looking to have done. Was referred here by Oil Change shop that did great work. Meet him there a 8:45 to get estimate on work. After 15 minutes says he will need to get into it to give me an accurate price as too many variables but he is already angling for 3 hours when the book rate is 1.5 to replace leaking front right side axle seal. Inspection to provide accurate quote sounds reasonable and was recommended as HONEST so figured what the heck.. Three hours later we get a call, says can't do the job at all, truck is too heavy for his lift. Guys next door at the diesel shop could do it, but not till tomorrow at earliest. (This was AJs only work for today and was supposed to be a slam dunk to have done today when I talked to him Saturday.) Picked up truck and took it to the dealer, Superstition Dodge. Got it there at noon, they promised to do best they could to do it today as I need to leave town tomorrow. Quoted me $275 including parts for the job. This is same price 2 hours and parts at AJs would have worked out to. Really quite pissed with the approach and attitude. How can this guy be in business this long and not know his lift can't raise a 3/4 ton Dodge with a V10. Don't know what his work is like but I certainly won't be trying them again. read more

I have used AJ's a number of times for my Lexus. Every one there is great. Relaxed, knowledgeable, reasonable pricing and great work. They take their time to insure that the work is done well and will spend whatever time it takes for me to understand the problem. cost and time it will take to complete the repair. Went to these guys because my check engine light was on and my gas gauge wasn't working. They said we needed a new fuel pump. They had my jeep for about 4hrs and called and said they found broken wires near the gas pump, which was causing the light to go off. Basically, our bill went from 600$ to 110$. They could've been greedy and not replaced it and still charged us the 600$. All in all, great customer service. Honest, hard working people. read more

Ever since I was recommended to AJ's by a nearby transmission shop, I've never had a bad experience. It's hard to find an honest mechanic these days who won't try to sell you something that works, and Aaron is one of the few left of a breed you don't find anymore. Unfortunately ever since we moved out of Tempe a few years ago, I'm not as close to the shop as I'd like to be, so we had been going to another shop closer to Ahwatukee. Those guys are good too, but now that our new babysitter is closer to AJ's, that opened up the door to be able to take the car back there as I was in the area again, and we try as much as possible to take our vehicles there. I don't know about the disgruntled customer below a few years ago, but that's not the mechanic I know. AJ took care of our 2 Camry's and Hyundai without any issues whatsoever. I do recommend trying to make an appointment if at all possible as it is a smaller shop and walk-ins may be a longer wait, but other than that, I recommend him 100%. read more
