The Valentine's promotion never mentioned that sharing wasn't allowed, and our waitress, although very kind, never stated it either. The issue arose when the manager came over and offered "refills" without clarifying she meant crab legs. Since both of our drinks were empty, we assumed she meant beverages. Instead of clarifying, she just gave us a look that made us feel as if we were stupid, which made the interaction uncomfortable. When we realized she was talking about crab legs, she asked if we both had ordered them. I said, "No, just me" but I also mentioned that my boyfriend had eaten a crab leg or two. In the moment, I didn't realize he hadn't actually even eaten any--he was just helping me crack them open. That's when she abruptly told us we weren't supposed to be sharing. If there is a strict no-sharing policy, it should be clearly communicated in the promotion or at the table beforehand. Being corrected mid-meal, especially in a dismissive tone, took away from what was supposed to be a special Valentine's experience. Clearer communication and a more welcoming approach would go a long way.
