I stopped on my way by on 94 and Yelp is the reason I stopped. I started with the steak and potato…read moresoup which was creamy and delicious. Steak was soft and well seasoned. The review of the Reuben motivated me to get it and I am SO HAPPY I did. I wanted to lose myself in that sandwich. Tender meat that melts with each bite. It was well balanced with the flavors. I got the American fries as a side which were crispy they way I like them. Just as the other review stated it was a very filling meal. I took half home. The only negative is is live too far away to eat here weekly!!!

This was not good. I stopped by for breakfast. The place is attached to a gas station. I've had some great food from similarly arranged restaurants, but... not this time. I had a veggie omelet with hash browns and OJ. I tried to figure out what order to talk about these in, since they were all really, really bad. The veggie omelet... it was bad. The green peppers, if I had to guess, had been prepped a few days earlier. They were greyish-green. Not close to fresh. It was just nasty. The hash browns.... they were bad. I've literally never had bad hash browns until I ate here. There was just this flavor.... it wasn't good at all. The OJ was sour. Yelp says to talk about the ambiance. There were some really offensive people playing dice at one of the tables. They were regulars. It was a pleasant distraction from the food. In short- don't eat here.

When traveling up to my hometown of Hayward a few times a year, we usually stop off in Eau Claire for lunch/dinner but will be making this restaurant our priority from now On. Round 2 one week later- my husband had been craving a good hamburger so this stop he had his hamburger and asked for his French fries crisp. I thought that was funny because our last stop here the French fries are already crisp which makes them the best French fries! Alas, his did come out a little darker and a little crispier. He said his cheeseburger was excellent and it was also huge, and he took 1/2 of his burger and fries out the door with him. He also had a cup of chicken and dumpling soup as I raved about it from our last visit. I ham an internal battle with choosing what I thought I should eat to save calories for our weekend, and what I wanted to eat. What I wanted to eat won so I ordered the Ruben with French fries and chicken noodle soup. Yummy. The sandwich was excellent with thin slices of roasted corn beef, just the right amount of sauerkraut and cheese and the Bo us is the sauce for the sandwich was served o. The side so I had co from over how much of the sauce went on my sandwich. Also 1/2 of my meal Went out the door with me. It's definitely worth the stop. There's nothing else quite like this classic supper club in the Stanley/Thorp area. This place is great for what it is. Worthy of 5-stars, especially when compared to the other options in the surrounding area (and I've eaten at most of them over the past 15-years). Please give'em some love and attention. I don't think towns like Stanley should ever lose places like Kutzee's. It's not much from the outside, but warm, classic log cabinny feel inside. You're welcomed in to a cozy bar area just inside the front door. I really wanted to hang at the bar when we walked in, alas, our hangries were getting the better of us, so we opted directly into the dining area. Our server was crazy attentive and on the mark. Well spoken, and very helpful. Food is classic supper club fare. Steaks, fish (deep fried and broiled). Baked potatoes, hash browns, fries. You know the drill. It's all filling and hangry quashing. If I had to be super nit picky I could give Kutzee's a few little knocks here and there - The minimum selection of call gins (2), bourbons (1), the unidentifiable wines by the glass (no wine by the bottle), the pre-portioned sauces and sour cream in plastic cups with plastic lids and pre-packaged salad dressing pouches are all slightly annoying. Though all are pretty forgivable and understandable given the size and style of the restaurant. Again, I'm admittedly being nit picky. Kutzee's could easily slide upscale a little tiny bit by having small fresh pepper mills and better quality (non-iodized) salt on the table, but again forgivable and understable. Our steaks were cooked on the mark, medium rare. I have no complaint with that! Half of the places in the big city can't even seem to get that right, so kudos to you Mr. Chef-man. You made our night with that small skill. On the flip side, the steaks could have been better seasoned with fresh pepper and salt prior to cooking, but the generous amount of butter added after they came off the grill helped temper that a bit. I reminisced about not having the classic supper club things I remember from my youth like the pickle relish tray and cracker basket. What I don't miss is pickled herring. ha Both the bartender (owner?) and server were extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Service was on the mark. The prices, for this big city boy, were more than acceptable too. Again I have minor quibbles, but with prices like these, big city boy isn't going to complain much. I left Kutzee's feeling sated and happy that we found someplace we'd be extremely happy to go back to the next time(s) we're in Thorp and Stanley. And our wallets didn't feel too much lighter after the experience either. Yet another check mark in the win column for Kutzee's. My final thought is this place is a secret and that's too bad! The 30-something front desk clerk at the AmeriVu hotel in Stanley didn't even know Kutzee's existed when I asked him about it. If Kutzee's invited hotel staff up for comp'd meals, I bet the future business payback would be more than worth the expense.

I ordered the Havarti and ham sandwich and the hubby wanted breakfast even though it was 2:45pm. Our waitress was really friendly and we had great service. We like our hot food hot which was exactly what we got. My Havarti and ham sandwich was grilled on garlic sourdough... delicious! I loved that my ham slices were grilled and the fresh sliced tomato gave it the perfect flavor. And you might think breakfast is breakfast but the melted cheese and grilled onions on the hash browns added another dimension of flavor to the perfectly cooked eggs and sausage patty. Hubby chose pancakes over toast and he is glad as he said they were fluffy and golden brown. And to finish off this wonderful experience was the Neillsville High School Homecoming parade. A wonderful surprise. If ever in the area, I'd recommend stopping. It would also be a great place to stop for coffee, dessert or ice cream. The pies and chocolate overload torte listed on the menu board sound yummy good.

Seemed like a good sign and the place to be for lunch. The decor was not what I was expecting from the outside, much more of a cute floral diner scene. I was quickly seated at a booth and got my drink. I ordered a grilled chicken wrap with the sidewinder fries. It was surprising that the grilled chicken wasn't chunks or strips, but seemed more like a rotisserie one that was shredded. I could have used a little more sauce in the wrap, but overall good. The sidewinders fries were exactly what I was hoping they would be and are deceivingly filling. They're kind of the texture of the spudsters that we had in school growing up; mashed potatoey on the inside with a crisp exterior. Overall, tasty food for a good price.
