I read the great reviews and decided to book a couple's massage for my husband and myself. It was the first time in months that we able to arrange for someone else to help with our kids. I got him all pumped up for this and when we got there? The gentleman was totally confused at why we were there. He explained that he didn't read the booking and wasn't able to do a couples massage since he had someone right after the appointment. It might be the best massage on earth but we won't ever know because they use a booking app that they don't read. Will definitely go elsewhere in the future. Super unprofessional and the reaction by the massage therapist was really flippant like it didn't matter. And he can be incredibly gentle, and remarkably skillful at finding all the sore muscles just by feel. I've had dozens of massages over the years. I've never gotten up from the table so refreshed and rejuvenated. Be prepared...he will push the 9-out-of-10 pain level several times during your massage, if you'll let him, to really make a difference. And he's massively strong and does so easily. So I have been going to seattle for the past couple years because my brother lives there. So on a vacation, I like to relax and I have been wanting to get a legit deep tissue massage. So this place is located in the Kent valley, not that far from seattle. This place can be hard to find. It's located in the leasing office of an apartment complex that looks like a bavarian town (haha). You will turn into the apartment complex and there are signs on the side but they can be easy to miss but just keep going until you get to the leasing office. The place is really relaxing, there's relaxing music and the office smells amazing! Michael is a very friendly person, funny, and professional guy. The massage was amazingggggg, best massage ever! Man, Michael really got into my back and it was a LEGIT deep tissue massage. He really dug into my muscles and it was a good pain (haha). I have been needing, wanting and looking for someone to give me a really great tissue massage, sadly for me he's in WA. He is very open and tells you what he's going to do so you feel comfortable. Sometimes it can be weird being naked with a total stranger, massaging you but he makes it a very safe and comfortable experience. He is the only one there because he has had a bit of trouble finding people that have strong thumbs (haha). So he can get pretty booked. I went for 1 hour and it was not enough! I've been here five times so far and all experiences have been great! My first visit was prompted by a Groupon deal and I made an appointment with Sandi. I called and couldn't get through the first time (she probably had a client) so I left a voicemail saying I wanted to schedule a massage, and I got a call back the same day and booked it. I love that this place has very flexible hours and days of the week which makes it easy to find a time that works! Sandi gave me detailed instructions about how to find the place. The location is in the same building as the leasing office for the surrounding condos, so be sure to listen to her instructions when you make your appointment and follow the signs in. Once you see the signs, they are easy to follow as you drive through the parking lot. You'll see a large Leasing Office sign, and then on the door it says Akesis massage. You go right upstairs and there's a waiting area if you're early, restroom in the hallway to the right, and the two Akesis massage rooms. I have a lot of discomfort in my neck, shoulders, and arms from working at a desk all day and typing/mousing repetitively. I also have some discomfort in my hips due to sitting and crossing my legs all the time as well. In the first visit, I made sure to arrive a little early to fill out the forms and noted my concern areas. Then Sandi welcomed me in, we chatted about what experiences I've had in the past and what I was looking for. Throughout the massage, she was very intuitive, focusing on my concern areas, and also areas where she felt some TLC was needed. The 60 minutes flew by and this was the first place in 3 years that I actually found I liked so I immediately signed up for their membership! I came back for the second time today (called to book it around lunch time and got in for an appointment after work) and got an extra 30 minutes free tacked on due to the membership! Sandi was great again, working on my problem areas, and also chit-chatting between points where I almost dozed off because I was so relaxed! Michael @ Akesis Massage is literally the best massage I have ever had. I have been suffering from Pelvic Floor dysfunction, piriformus syndrome, and sciatica, all of which give me the nice burning sensation when I sit! Michael is the only one out of countless PT, Chiropractors and other Massage Therapists that has been able to get deep into these areas and release all of this tension and muscle spasm. He's extremely professional and courteous, and he loves his job and is passionate about helping people. He gets very busy and he will tell you to book online through his app, it shows all of his appointments, and I booked with him and I am Never going anywhere else. One of the best massages I've had in a long time, and I've gotten massages 1-2x a month now for the past 10 years. I recently moved to Kent and found Michael and Akesis and I am so happy! The first session I went to go see him for 90 minutes and it was really great, but I didn't realize how good until about 1-2 days after when my muscles were completely relaxed because of his work. I want to begin this with saying that Michael provided me with the best professional massage I have ever received and that is where the 1 star comes from I was not expecting to be quizzed on my personal preference to wear a mask to the appointment. When he said it was OK by him to remove it, I asked if he had been vaccinated to which he responded "No". I should have taken that red flag and ran with it but instead I proceeded with the massage. During the entirety of my time on the table, Michael projected his own personal experiences with COVID, how he doesn't believe it and that we should all follow QAnon's suggestions and that he was a believer. He repeatedly brought up how he has multiple clients that are nurses that have told him the "inside story" about COVID and how it isn't as bad as they say. That when people were crying out for help, it was really just a lie that they were getting paid to tell. That doctors were making money by getting people vaccinated. I have personally lost a lot of people to COVID in this past year or so and NONE of what he blabbered on about sat well with me If he wasn't talking about that subject, he was berating and insulting his ex-wife and telling me what a horrible person she was. Ex or not, I am a first time client who does not know you. Why are you sharing this with me?! Whatever the stressors were in your previous marriage, I don't believe that slandering her name to anyone and everyone earns any respect I will not be returning for another massage. After buying a 1 hour session from Amazon Local, I made an appointment with Sandi. I've been having problems with back pain and was seeing a chiropractor but was wanting a massage to help things along. I was a little wary since I could not find a single review online that wasn't on the main website and then saw that the address led me to an apartment complex. I was afraid this was a creeper who was doing some sketchy massage out of her bedroom! This is not the case however. Her clinic is on the second floor of the leasing office for the apartment complex. There are other businesses upstairs as well. There is not much in the way of signage. There is plenty of parking though. Sandi is extremely professional and her deep tissue massage was one of the best I have ever received. She is very skilled and knowledgeable. For my first ever "real" massage, I must say, what a great experience. Michael did a really great job making me feel comfortable, every bit of the experience was very personalized and Michael is a very personable practitioner. Got to make conversation with him all while he dug deep into the knots in my shoulders, my neck and my calves. He knows the right amount of pressure to put and for how long until my muscles really loosened up. I enjoyed the experience, 90 minute massage with aroma therapy and I was in relaxation heaven. My roommates even noticed a difference in how I was moving when I got home. I will hopefully be back again soon. He warns you that you'll hate him the next day and love him the day after. The massage was great and strong. I tend to go to have a massage when my body feels broken down and needing some R&R. I work as a critical care nurse so it's definitely a killer on the body, plus I do listen to a lot of family dynamics and people talking in general when at work. The guy that gave us a massage is great... However, he does talk a lot. I'm sure he was trying to give us a great first impression but after he talked a LOT about his family and their quirks and stories, it got uncomfortable. Personally I like going to have a massage to RELAX and be at PEACE, not listen to another person's drama or family history, especially when I get enough of that at work. Nursing isn't just about performing medical procedures, we also take a lot of time listening to people vent too. I would rather not do the same when I'm trying to relax. In fact I'd rather not have the masseuse talk at all. Maybe I'm used to the Asian style of massage.
