Hatsune Miku x Cinnamoroll collab plushie $45.99

I've always wanted to visit this anime store and finally did today because I saw their Instagram list something I wanted. They recently added Hatsune Miku x Cinnamoroll merch and I wanted the Cinnamoroll plushie. I compared the store's price of $45.99 to sites online and it was way cheaper to buy at Akihabara Tokyo than online surprisingly! Must've been because it's mostly resellers who have this in stock instead of official stores. The server was good and we even got to choose from a bin of free things with our purchase. We got a cute onigiri sticker but the bin had a huge variety of things to choose from. Something I noticed was that this store looks way bigger in person than it does from photos online. I thought it would be tiny but there's a decent amount of space and variety to choose from. They definitely sell the kind of merchandise I like compared to other anime stores. The merch here reminds me of the kinds of things you would find at an anime convention like KawaiiKon. I'm very happy with my experience and will definitely come back soon because I saw other merch I want to get!

I kept seeing this place pop up in the the Hawaii pop culture social media groups and since I end up at McCully Shopping Center pretty often, I stopped in. It's located on the second floor of the mall next to the ramen shop and Test Kitchen. It's a small location but packed with bright and colorful merchandise. The store is well organized and kept super clean with most items in plastic bags. Upon entry, the cashier is to the left with high priced statues and other goods behind the counter or in display cases. To the right is long shelving with toys, action figures, statues, costumes, and cosplay items. This is a niche shop that focuses on all things Japanese anime. While I have watched a few, I have to admit I didn't recognize many of the characters in the store. That won't detract from how fun this place is for a look. If you're an anime fan though, this is a must-visit shop.

Considering there are very few shops (at least, with what I'm aware of) that specialize in selling anime merchandise, I found it amazing that another anime goods shop had opened up at the McCully Shopping Center. This store just opened up in December 2021. Akihabara Tokyo is located on the second floor of the shopping center and offers a pretty good variety of anime figures, body pillow covers, posters, and more! Once you purchase an item, you are given a single package of tissue with an anime design, and for every $10 you spend, you'll receive a stamp on their Point Member Card.

If you spend a certain amount at the store you can pick two pocket tissues. I picked JJK since I was going to watch the film.

Sure, you could walk to the Ala Mona…read moremall but you're going to spend a ton of money for one toy vs at Keiki 2 Keiki you can let your kids go wild and pick out many things. I was surprised to find that things were priced cheaper than the Once Upon a Child stores we have on the mainland-- particularly the clothes. Speaking of clothes, we found Barbie clothes that normally are $10+ at the store here for only $1.99 new in package! Like new backpacks for like $5.99 and much much more! (loved the $0.99 books). And the quality of the clothing for sale was fantastic for being secondhand-- even the swimsuits. I will say that the store isn't the easiest to navigate (there is A LOT in here) but perhaps that's part of the fun (you could always ask the owner where to locate stuff if you're looking for something in particular). This shop is great way to fill your hotel room with some toys too just incase you have the unfortunate experience of getting sick on vacation or get really badly sunburnt and need a day in (keeps the kiddo happier). Owner was nice too, allowed my daughter to use the restroom. PS If you're a Disney fan there were lots of hidden gems, from Disney pins to Disney purses/packs to jewelry and more!

She's at the age where she changes shoe sizes every couple months and we're not sure she's going to be a Ginger Rogers. The store is somewhat cluttered with lots of great deals. Every square inch is covered with merchandise. The clerk/owner is Aloha friendly and will help you find something. Several other people were shopping for clothes and backpacks. We did find the tap shoes at about a third of the price of new shoes. What was nice is that she could try them on so we could sure they fit right before we bought them. She tried about six pair before we found the perfect fit. (She is a princess, for sure.) We also picked up a gymnastics leotard for her for a couple bucks. The shop has a small shared parking lot with free parking.

I saw the sign where you could get 25% off an item in the window and went in. Maybe it was senior moment but lately I can go into a store for a specific item and leave with something else, only to kick myself when I got home. So when I went to purchase my items I completely forgot about the special. I wasn't reminded about it either. I went to Complete Kitchen and bought a couple of items there. The cashier was telling everyone about their sales and the discounts. So I went back to Up and Riding and asked if the items I bought (over $100) were eligible. They were and she did take 25% off the most expensive item. In terms of customer service the cashiers at Complete Kitchen were so much more helpful (not only to me because I heard their spiel to others too).

I would stock up on socks and sweaters with abandon from the Uniqlos closer to my home in San Francisco. That was why it surprised me that I would seek out this familiar store at the mammoth Ala Moana Center. However, I had seen a local vlogger's YouTube video where he showcased the Hawaiian-exclusive clothing they sell here. Jamie W and I decided to drop by when we were at Ala Moana. Although not at the scale of the Tokyo Ginza flagship, it's one of the global chain's larger stores with an expansive multi-floor space. They offer the Brands Hawaiian Loco line, which is quite a distinct array of T-shirts spotlighting locally renowned businesses like Leonard's Bakery, Hawaiian Airlines, and Zippy's. I even bought one featuring a bowl of Zippy's saimin called Zipmin (Photo 4). I also really liked their line of aloha shirts because designs came from top quality Japanese block prints. I fell in love with one shirt based on Hokusai's "The Great Wave Off Kanagawa". I had never seen one like that before. They even offer opportunities to customize T-shirts and tote bags using exclusive designs from local artists. There's enough here to justify a shopping expedition. If you think one Uniqlo is like another, reconsider and come here. RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed: https://yelp.to/06Oa2Epa6T
