Stopped in at Akihi for a quick snack. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of of chicken you get in an order. I order the mild which still was a little spicy. Inside is very cute and they have plenty of different board games and such. Wish there was a little more seating but overall a really nice place to catch up with a friend. Very clean inside and the service is quick. Can't wait to come back and try their bubble tea!

The service has gotten much faster compared to when they first opened. I also enjoyed their taro potted plant smoothie. However, I wish they had more seating options. The seating on the floor looks cute, but after while it gets a bit uncomfortable. I recommend putting some pillows for comfortability

First timer here. I did go in once before and left because I didn't know what to order. The workers were too busy for one-on-one attention. Today, I got lucky! I showed the person a picture of a Boba I had in ATL and kinda wanted to replicate my order. Fortunately, she knew their equivalent. Unfortunately, it was very watery. I sucked up the tapioca balls and tossed the rest. Maybe I need a new order! But I definitely want something with a little thicker than thinned out lactate milk. Again, if I had ordered something different, I may have enjoyed it more.

Quick and efficient service. Ice cream is so creamy and filling. The strawberry soda water quenched my thirst but wasn't too flavorful. The vibes are relaxing and fun.

Do not get the brown sugar milk tea ice cream. On the kiosk menu, it looked great, but the taste was far from that. It was so sugary that I was tasting diabetes. Absolutely do not get this. It's just a soft serve vanilla ice cream with extremely sweet brown sugar syrup. This place gets a star for having a cute cup sleeve and having some board games. I liked how trouble and two other games were in boxes that looked like books. They have a little shelf of games, but they don't look that well-cared for or clean. There needs to be more seatings at this location. There's only a couple tables and high tables. Paid street parking right out front but is free at night.

Easy to order, super cool aesthetic and amazing reward system ! My bubble tea ice cream mix was AMAZING, I've never had anything like it. Servings are huge but well worth every penny. I will be going back for more !

Loved the vibes of this store! My sister and I walked in on a Friday afternoon, and we were immediately impressed by the cleanliness and the openness of the space. I liked that this store catered to different visitors. There was a cozy nook tucked into the corner of the store for people who would prefer more privacy, and there was a really open, sunny spot next to a huge window for people who wanted to chat and/or people watch. The drinks were great, and the service was also excellent. I would come here again!

Went with friends on a sunday we were planning on going to eat somewhere nearby here but they dont open until 12 so it was nice that this place was open and got to try it out. We ordered brown sugar boba, watermelon slush, mango slush with sticky rice. It was empty when we got there and ordered through the kiosk. It was ok I have had better ones though

This spot is conveniently located right next to one of my favorite local bakeries. Street metered parking is available, and if you didn't know, the first 10 minutes are free before payment is required. Just make sure to tap the meter before you run in to grab your to go order. Quick tip: there are two doors at the entrance. Make sure to go through the left one for Akihi because the right one leads to an apartment building. Inside, it's a modern space with thoughtfully designed seating - minimalist chairs (great for posture!) and even some cozy floor seating on rugs. I ordered two brown sugar brûlées for my husband and I, and it came in logo cups with matching sleeves (I'm a sucker for good store branding) plus the cutest bag. Of course the real test is the drink. I've been dazzled by aesthetics before only to be disappointed, but not here. One shake, one sip... absolutely worth it! I'll definitely be back to explore more on the menu. And, don't miss their VIP perk. We only got drinks. We got 5 different drinks but I don't remember their names. - Cookies & Cream - Strawberry - Mango - Passion Fruit Tea They were all very good! Service: not much to say since the only interaction was when my hubby picked up the drinks from the counter. It's a nice little place with cute settings. I love how they have a few small tables with mats where you have to sit on your buttons hehehe Highly recommend this to anyone.

The drinks are extremely delicious, very unique and not the norm at most other boba shops. I like the customization options, particularly since I don't like too sweet boba. The drinks were a little pricey, but I like that togo orders were packaged in cute purple bags. Very attentive staff and adequate amount to churn out orders quickly. They had a sit down area on the ground for a cute catch with friends or a table in the back for larger parties. I used the study spot in the back.

SUCH A CUTE BOBA TEA SHOP! And in Metuchen of all places... I am so happy. Inside was cozy and fun - I wouldn't say it's the best place for studying but a good hangout and date spot! Orders were placed on a tablet and came out quickly. - Peppermint Jasmine milk tea: 4/5, tasted like peppermint milk aka tasted like Christmas - but the peppermint flavor wasn't overwhelming - Royal blueberry peach tea: 5/5, refreshing, sweet at 50% still and cold The packaging is absolutely to die for- the bags, logo, branding, and the interior of course. Wanted to try this place for a long time. With so many franchise boba shops popping up like daisys, finding an authentic one is hard. I love the mix of traditional feels (wooden natural setting and seating, zen messages on the walls) with modern convenience (self order kiosks, quality containers). I also love how thought out their menu is, catering to how the consumer vibes rather than boring categories. I loved my Thai tea and my husband loved his potted soil milk tea to go. Failed to take a picture before I drank it all. Would definitely come here again. read more

Stopped by after I noticed this place while taking a stroll through Metuchen. Got the creme brûlée bubble tea which might be my new favorite bubble tea ever, and that is saying something because I LOVE bubble tea. Just found this spot and it's so cute! Theres like seating in the floor and kind of a hang-out lounge vibe. It's open till midnight which I was shocked to see and also it was packed! There are also so many people in and out just picking up. It's definitely really popular. I got the taro tea which was pretty good and my friend got the rose which was super sweet but still good flavor! They also have ice cream and other snacks like fries etc which is cool for those that are hanging out for a while and want actual food. read more

The North Edison/Metuchen area was in desperate need of a bubble tea spot and Akihi more than delivers. I've been here a number of times already and have had a great experience each time - both bubble tea quality and service wise. Features: 1. Open late! Akihi is open till midnight every day of the week. 2. All of the teas come in 1 large size. 3. Plenty of seating to lounge and hangout with friends or to get some work or studying done. 4. Unique toppings: oatmeal, sticky rice, salt cheese. Big fan of the salt cheese. 5. Kind of pricy but comparable to most of the bubble tea places. I really loved the interior decor of this place I could definitely see myself coming to work/study here. It was quite busy but the ordering experience was seamless with the iPad. A new boba shop that opened up in Metuchen, so I had to go try it. I ordered the taro milk tea. The taro flavor was refreshing and did not taste powdery. The whole milk is definitely better than the other milk options. The interior aesthetics are nice and perfect for a boba date. read more

I've been coming to this spot , and ordered Thai Tea and it tasted like cigarettes. I asked the manager to swap it for a Taro Tea and he responded he can't swap it out because he already used the resources. Always leave tips and they can't remake a drink because of resources.... Terrible business definitely won't be going back. read more

Really good boba spot. Same owners as Kittea in Highland Park (Though I think Kittea tastes better). Drinks are solid and always hit the spot. The ambiance is really nice but I wish there were more seating sometimes, as it gets pretty busy late at night since they are the only local boba place open until midnight. read more

I was already a big fan of their other location l, KitTea so I was very happy they had a location closer to where I lived! Literally the cutest indoor spot I have been to recently. They clearly spent a lot of time on their interior design and it shows. AMAZING spot to get some work done and enjoy a refreshing drink. It was super quiet and the vibes were immaculate. They have different small sections placed out for you individually or a group! Vegan milk options were there- finally we have been waiting to see vegan bubble tea! They had three different options of milk: coconut milk, oat milk, and almond milk! We ended up getting a refreshing fruit mix. I didn't really enjoy the fruit seeds that were inside and although it was 30% sugar it was still really sweet. However they have great chewy boba and lychee jelly! One thing i'll say is they only have one size of drink which is strange.. Also the drinks start at $9 and each additional boba you add is $.75 so EXTREMELY pricey in my opinion!! (They also offered us a free ferrero rocher but we're vegan so we denied.) Definitely a great new spot to check out! read more

Pinky drink with Boba and coconut milk- please try it! We definitely will be back here soon. The girl behind the counter was super friendly and helped us find the right right option. The drinks and food coming out of the kitchen area all looked very appealing. Mostly a young crowd but could have been time of day when we went. They have ample seating indoor. Very clean and inviting atmosphere. The containers are sturdy and had no problem mixing the drinks as they have an additional snap lid . Definitely worth a visit! read more

A friend brought me here today to the middle of metuchen to try this new(?) bubble tea spot that he heard was highly recommended. Of course since I'm a big sweets guy I had a heard time picking what I wanted from the menu. But when I saw that they were putting ice cream inside of a cone that's constructed of egg waffle my jaw hit the floor. I have never seen it done before and actually being sold in an actual restaurant. I love both ice cream and tho small egg waffles so it was a no brainer that I had to get it. I was not let down at all as it was one of the best desserts I have ever had from start to finish. 1. The ice cream itself was absolutely fantastic and just remarkable. 2. The egg waffles are soft and have this crunch on the outside that adds a different element to the soft ice cream. Those sticks (forgot what they're called) I have always loved so adding those in just brought out the inner child in me. All in all this dessert is honestly 10/10 I just wish there was more of an assortment of toppings (like shredded coconut, brownie pieces etc etc). I will 100% be seeing y'all very soon. read more

This bubble tea place has an amazing ambiance to it. Very quaint and comfy. Great choices of bubble tea and food. We got a mango slush with bubbles, taro bubble tea, and waffle fries. All were very good. Fries had bit of a kick to them but it just make them better. What was really amazing was the branding on the cups and straws. A nice homage to Metuchen and I would totally get another drink for the graphics alone. The drinks were very good as well. Definitely coming back. read more

Service was fast and they use Snackpass which is a great system that also enables online ordering and rewards. The server was very helpful and explained their pin reward program to me and the shop is very clean and well kept. Their bathroom was also very clean too which I happened to have to use the day I went there. The seating is just alright they have a bunch of unique seats around the shop. If anyone has gone to kittea in highland park this shop feels like a sister location to that shop. They have very similar tea options and the size of the cup is the same. The teas only come in a large size. The major difference between akihi and kittea is that akihi serves ice cream options which look great and waffles which kittea does not. Otherwise if your a big fan of kittea like myself and live in the Metuchen or Edison area this shop is pretty much the same thing so no need to drive that far to get your favorite boba drink. I would definitely recommend this shop to others but be advised that parking is very limited since it's located on Main Street and there are many Metuchen police patrolling the area. Probably one of the best bubble tea places in the area. Their sizing is generous and I love their unique flavors. My favorite is the jasmine tea with the salted cheese foam. They also offer different snacks, including spicy fries which are amazing! Great spot to hang out with friends. I was very excited to have a boba place in this town and this place is almost perfect. Inside is very trendy and nice decor, reallt cute place to hang out with friends and catch up. I got a rose milk tea which was very tasty but ended up being $7 (probably bc of the almond milk and boba added) which I thought is still steep for a bubble tea. The drink was good and boba was a little chewier than I like, but still happy to have bubble tea in town so worth a try. read more

They refuse to have any interpersonal interaction with customers. They inform the customers to use the kiosk machine instead. Cleanliness: The store is clean with no garbage or debris left on tables, chairs, floors, or near the garbage can area. Pricing: The drinks and snacks here are decent prices from $5.00 and up. Ube Coconut Vietnamese Coffee: This drink was a little different and it just did not taste great. My friend stated that he was glad he added sugar, but he felt like this drink could have been better as it was not to his liking. Mango Matcha: I have mixed feelings about this drink as it tasted a little weird. One sip it tastes a little sweet and another sip it tastes a little bitter. I think I should have stuck with some mango drink instead. Chocolate Egg Pancake: Last time we got this item it did not have any chocolate filling inside of it. It was just a regular egg pancake but chocolate looking. They perfected this with the chocolate filling inside and it definitely tastes better now. Overall: I do not think I would come out of my way just to come here to get bubble tea. If I am in this area again next time, then I may give it another try with a different drink. They should also start to communicate with their customers because some customers love to interact with people.

It is a self-serve, no tip restaurant so you'll need to either order their their kiosk machines, or there's QR codes available on the table for you to order from your phone. We ordered their slippery egg chicken rice combo with Hong Kong style milk tea with aged tangerines, a slippery egg rice with pork chop, and also baked pork chop rice with curry sauce and cheese. The slippery egg rice was on point. The eggs were silky, moist and velvety , almost custard like in texture. It was also rich and savory. I like how the chicken was lightly fried without having too much breading. They used chicken thighs so it was moist, tender and well seasoned. The fried pork chop, which was similar to pork katsu, was perfectly fried with a crispy, well seasoned crust which adhered well to the meat. The meat was juicy and succulent. The curry had a mild kick which I liked and there were also little pieces of carrots and potatoes in it. The only thing was I felt there was a little too much sauce as I felt the rice was drenched in it, which made it a little too rich for my liking. The lemon tea with aged tangerines was my favorite. The lemon tea tasted authentic. One of the best I've had including the ones I've tried in the Hong Kong style cafes in nyc. The tea flavor is intense which I can tell it's not just from a tea bag. The tea was balanced well with aged tangerines which added more citrusy and a subtle earthy flavor. The drink is bold yet refreshing. I was told they have a slushy version so I would go back to try it next time. It is self serve as I mentioned before as you will have to go get your own cutlery, plates and napkins at the table by the register. The food came out shortly after I placed my order and the staff were all very friendly. This is a good options for a quick lunch/dinner and price is very reasonable as you can get a dish plus a drink for $20 and under and you don't have to tip. I would return again for sure.
