Nice to have a restaurant that has HK style menu as an option in the area. Decent food. They also have a combo option that includes a drink.

I've been here before when they only offered bubble tea and I'm glad they've expanded to also offer food. The menu is limited and they offer mainly Hong Kong style snacks and rice/spaghetti dishes. It is a self-serve, no tip restaurant so you'll need to either order their their kiosk machines, or there's QR codes available on the table for you to order from your phone. We ordered their slippery egg chicken rice combo with Hong Kong style milk tea with aged tangerines, a slippery egg rice with pork chop, and also baked pork chop rice with curry sauce and cheese. The slippery egg rice was on point. The eggs were silky, moist and velvety , almost custard like in texture. It was also rich and savory. I like how the chicken was lightly fried without having too much breading. They used chicken thighs so it was moist, tender and well seasoned. The fried pork chop, which was similar to pork katsu, was perfectly fried with a crispy, well seasoned crust which adhered well to the meat. The meat was juicy and succulent. The curry had a mild kick which I liked and there were also little pieces of carrots and potatoes in it. The only thing was I felt there was a little too much sauce as I felt the rice was drenched in it, which made it a little too rich for my liking. The lemon tea with aged tangerines was my favorite. The lemon tea tasted authentic. One of the best I've had including the ones I've tried in the Hong Kong style cafes in nyc. The tea flavor is intense which I can tell it's not just from a tea bag. The tea was balanced well with aged tangerines which added more citrusy and a subtle earthy flavor. The drink is bold yet refreshing. I was told they have a slushy version so I would go back to try it next time. It is self serve as I mentioned before as you will have to go get your own cutlery, plates and napkins at the table by the register. The food came out shortly after I placed my order and the staff were all very friendly. This is a good options for a quick lunch/dinner and price is very reasonable as you can get a dish plus a drink for $20 and under and you don't have to tip. I would return again for sure. read more

We saw all the great reviews - people rave about the milk tea. Next time we will try that. I was hoping for some authentic HK Cafe style food. They have a very limited menu and the food was average. Pork chop was tasty. The toast appeared to be pan fried toast with little evidence of egg. It was like toast with peanut butter which you dip in condensed milk. We came in on a Thursday night around 7pm. When you come in you see signs to order at the kiosk and that it is a no tip establishment. We ordered and sat down. What we ordered: - Slippery Egg Pork Chop Over Rice combo with a Deluxe Passion Fruit Green Tea with Boba - Ribeye Steak over Noodles combo with a Strawberry Creme Brulee milk (Black Pepper Steak) The food came out pretty quickly and it was all very delicious. You have to grab your own plastic ware and napkins from the table in the back. The table also has tops for all the containers in case you do not finish and need to take it home. Around 7:35 a worker came over to check if we wanted to order anything else because they were about to close the kitchen. He was very nice about it, I can tell he wasn't trying to rush us just wanted to make sure. As we were finishing up our meal, another worker came and gave us a container of freshly cut oranges! So incredibly sweet. I couldn't finish my meal because they gave a generous portion so I brought it home to my partner and he absolutely killed it and thought it was so good! It is nice to have a Hong Kong style cafe in NJ that we don't need to travel to NY Chinatown.. they offer variety of HK cafe style food like pineapple bun with thick slice of butter, fried pork chop over rice with tomato sauce, or black pepper sauce, different kind of tea, boba, and shakes.. service was quick and easy, you order via a kiosk, or you can order via QR code on the table (if you want to dine in).. they bring out your food in a take out container so you can easily pack your left over without waiting for a carryout box.. taste wise it's good... flavorful... would go back to try other food as well.. the only thing is the store is small so you might not find seat if you go in during meal time, parking is "scary" to me but guess you can park farther and walk over... read more

Got chicken and egg over rice. The egg was insanely salty. What is worse: the cook didn't realize they put way too much salt in, or they didn't care? Completely inedible and that comes from someone who likes my food salty. The chicken was solid, not dry, but also not crispy as promised. Wife ordered chicken baked noodles and the noodles were not up to her standards. The salt egg pineapple bun was the best part of the meal. I had high hope for this place serving HK style food. It's a little on the pricey side and I think the rice and pasta a little undercooked and hard. But other than that the food is decent though not all that HK style. The fried pork chop was excellent. Soft and crunchy. HK style milk tea has the HK milk tea taste. We also had the strawberry flavor milk which was ok. The black pepper chicken was just ok. There's no tip. You can a QR code to order or use the kiosk and they bring you the food in takeout containers, if you don't finish they have lids for you. TLDR: cozy spot with surprisingly good food HK Alley has always had a focus on brewing high quality teas and drinks you'd find in any shop in Hong Kong. They also make traditional HK cafe style hot foods you'd never expect to have in a drink shop. I was especially impressed by the cha siu (bbq pork) - they make it in house, which is an amazing feat on its own. It's wonderfully tender, sweet, and succulent. My husband was surprised by how strong the tea flavor was in my HK Creme Brulee Milk Tea without sugar; he thought it needed 30% sugar. The tea uses evaporated milk, giving it a luxurious creme brulee taste. Surprisingly, they don't offer milk substitutes. The staff are very friendly and make excellent recommendations if you are ever unsure of anything. They do take pride in making their drinks for you as they explain they brew their own teas and there are no powered utilized to make their drinks and snacks. There aren't many tables, but there is a stage with available seating. Since it wasn't busy during my visits, I had my pick of seats. Located in what was once Moge Tea, Fresh O Tea has a variety of quality beverages and snacks. Ambience is same, not much has changed design wise from its predecessor. Ordered was a Grapefruit Orange Tea. Bits of fresh grapefruit and orange pulp were interspersed in green tea, giving my beverage notes of orange, layered with grapefruit rind, topped with a slice of lemon, adding a citric freshness to what is a slightly sweet drink with 30% sugar. Came here based on the good reviews, but this was easily one of the worst restaurants in the Edison area. The wait time for our food was extremely long, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. Do not order the steak. All of our steaks were badly overcooked, both the tomato sauce and black pepper versions. The black pepper steak in particular was very dry and overly salty. The pork chop was just okay. The owner was also quite annoying, constantly talking to us while we were trying to eat already disappointing food. Fresh O Tea is the newest addition to the Edison area. They recently replaced another Bubble Tea shop so hopefully they can keep up in this densely populated area. Their staff are very friendly and helpful, so don't feel intimidated by the menu. It's very spacious with a lovely ambiance so you can sit down and enjoy your drinks and snacks while socializing with friends. I posted a few pictures of inside for your viewing pleasure. As a first time customer, I decided to try their Tea and Snack Combo. I got the HK Bubble Milk Tea which was very good and the bubbles were fresh and chewy. We came here after eating at the wonton guy for a little sweet dessert. The man helping us was super friendly and helpful in his suggestions. We got a taro milk tea, a more traditional drink and a pineapple bun stuffed with taro. They use real taro for everything, no powder here. The parking lot is very limited and very tight. Try their [MINI BUTTER BUNs]!!! (aka Bo Luo Bao, which is one of my favorite Asian pastries) These are the only snacks they offer on the menu and yea the price is bit steep BUT you won't regret it! My hubby and I got all four flavors to try (original, garlic, spicy, and taro) and I swear they're ALL delicious. We had to wait a bit for our order so I think they're freshly prepared? HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Would love to see them offering maybe those Bo Luo Bao sandwiches? :D My husband got the [HONG KONG BUBBLE MILK TEA] which is usually pretty highly caffeinated and strong. Bubble tea was solid and not overly sweet/puffed up with artificial flavors. We tried the pineapple buns and they were good as well!

The drinks here are very delicious. The drinks are very refreshing and flavorful. Highly recommend coming here.
