The location is very convenient and you can walk into Norwood's little downtown to the diner. It's a 10 minute drive to Potsdam and 25 minutes to Massena. I had also tried about a dozen bed and breakfasts before I came upon this GEM. Quaint guest house - completely separate and private from the owners home. Generous sized room with 2 Queen size beds full covered porch, with grill and right next to a horse barn,. Like waking up in a Christmas card ! Fridge stocked with breakfast goods, juices and milk. Cereals, donuts, snacks, you really want for nothing. Our host greeted us upon arrival and left us alone for the remainder of our stay, leaving notes to call if we needed. There was absolutely nothing we could have needed that wasn't supplied. Satellite TV and dozens of CD movies. A basket of books and magazines. Robes, towels linens... They REALLY have made a beautiful and welcoming place here. 15 - 30 minute ride to the 4 surrounding colleges. We will be back.

The Inn is set back from US 11 so it is quieter and is well lit. One floor and parking lot is directly in front of the Inn. Each room door opens directly to the parking lot which makes bringing luggage to your room very easy. I parked directly in front of my room nd the car was about 8 feet from the door to the room. The water pressure is decent, there was a window air conditioner (can get very loud) with a remote and the flat screen TV had about 135 channels (some duplicates). There was a fridge in the room that didn't seem to get too cold as I had a bottle of water in it overnight that didn't feel very cold in the morning. The amenities are what you would expect with free WiFi (decent speed and connection) and soaps and a shampoo provided. The bed was satisfactory and the room was acceptably clean. The Potsdam Inn is older and could definately use some upgrading but for the price it works for a place to sleep. The breakfast was coffee or tea, bananas and clementines, packaged instant oatmeal, pre-packaged muffins and pastries. I was hoping for more fresh breakfast foods or some type of protein. The lighting in the room is ample and the windows cn be a pain to open and close. There was a window in the front facing the parking lot and street, a window in the bathroom and a window next to the air conditioner that took some manipulating to get closed and locked. Woods surround the Inn on the sides and back. There is a list of TV channels and nearby restaurants provided in each room. Nearby there is a Wal-Mart and a short drive brings you to many restaurants and small shops. I would stay here again knowing what to expect. The breakfast leaves something to desire and the rooms are outdated but for the price you get a pretty clean, quiet (besides the air conditioner) and comfortable room with a friendly staff.

Ogdensburg has a motel, perhaps a walmart, some fast food restaurants, but at first I didn't think it had a hotel. I was driving slow in the dark not wanting to hit deer and, then, I even saw some deer. And just then, on the southern outskirts of Ogdensburg I saw the Stonefence resort and motel. It was about 10PM and no one was at the front desk, but there was a phone on the side of the wall and after picking up the receiver, it didn't take long for the owner came driving in. The motel was great - drive up right outside your door. With windows open on two sides of the room, a breeze comes through. It is a very comfortable bed, good wifi, good shower, good climate control. The back door and window looked down to the river. I mostly skip hotel breakfasts but I had the free one her:, made to order - fresh scrambled eggs, sausage, and potatoes, hot and cooked just right by a friendly member of the staff. The staff people are very helpful. I was moved on, but there is a nice boardwalk-type place on the water, with chairs under a gazebo. There are many, many kinds of rooms. I felt blessed and lucky to have not had to push on 45 miles in the dark toward watertown.

Adequate heat( unit was a bit noisy) newer a/c. Nice tv, cable, microwave and small dorm size fridge and alarm clock. There was a writing desk and a small table to eat food. The room was clean and although older decor the beds were ok- a little more support would have been better. There was a local freight train one night that went behind the motel at 1:30 am then at 4:30 am. I would have liked a heads up on that but it lasted 2-3 mins each time. Need to bring your hair dryer. If I need a room again I'll rent, no problem

Need say I asked the owner if it was okay if I got out by 12pm and she said it was okay. Worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. And no one should honestly stop there if they need a place to stay I would suggest watertown or Canton. But not in the town of gouverneur New York. I will definitely be reporting this business to the better business bureau. They don't deserve the money they are dirty owners. 10/10 would never suggest anyone goes there.
