I found this place to be decent for acrylics and not very good for gel. The quality just wasn't there. The salon also has a strong smell, which was unappealing. From the acrylics perspective: I had a good experience with the acrylics, they lasted me a while and I thought they did a great job with the design. However, it was the only time I ever did acrylics so I have no other experience to compare it to. Gel-wise: The gels lasted me a week before they started chipping and coming apart. For context, the place I usually go to they can last around a month. They also left my nails so brittle and frail. read more

I went in for a spa pedicure & brow wax (75$) and it was overall a good service but I did have a deep cut during the pedicure. Other than that my long-time revisit went well. I do remember they specialize in designs for your hand nails. Some of my favorite manicures had come from Akoi. Today though the spa pedicure was pretty good considering how much cleaner & smoother my feet feel. She really buffed and scrubbed out my rough parts, which I needed honestly. Ill skip the cuticle trim next time, but I would go back maybe even for a nice nail design. During covid, its safe & since it was close to closing I noticed how they cleaned up nicely. Nice and clean location in Voorhees, NJ. We were able to make an appointment for a Saturday morning a few days before. Once we arrived we were greeted and taken back to our chairs. To get onto the pedi chair there are two steps. There's then a long bench like chair across the back. Overall the pedicure was good. She took out my terrible ingrowns and we finished within 45-1hr. My only complaint (and yes I know inflation) is the cost. My gel pedi was $65 read more

After a week and 3 days my nails were sore still and began lifting... the nail size was too small. I called that following Thursday while I was still away on vacation.. I couldn't get there regardless. A fresh set should never lift that quickly. The owner/manager wasn't willing to take any responsibility for it once so ever. After not receiving a call back from the manager I walked in. All they wanted to do was give me a $11 discount and pay for their bad quality work and just said "you're due for a fill anyway" a week ago it was "oh not everyone's nail bed is the same". I was impressed from the moment I entered. Safety precautions were in effect but that did not take away from the inviting atmosphere or the ambiance. My nail tech Kate was energetic and I got the best foot and hand massages with my mani & pedi. I let her design what she wanted and I loved her design! After going to two salons nearest to my home and being told that they were booked, I contact Aoki Nails and they said they had availability and that they could provide the ombre french nail service. I had the Express Mani for $15, and it literally took no more than 5 minutes for the entire service. The woman cut my cuticle too deep, and it started to bleed. There are also empty spaces on my nails since only 1 coat of the polish and 1 coat of glitter was done. I just had a regular mani/pedi at Akoi in Voorhees. The tubs for the mani do not use plastic liners, the area where the towel goes and feet rest was ripped and looked old. I had to go up a very high step to get to the seat. A bug landed on me and into the water. They turned on the water and I watched as the water rise (along with the bug) and no one was watching. I asked the woman working next to me what to do to prevent the water from overflowing, so she turned off the water, turned on the jets and threw some soap in the water. The girl who did my mani/pedi was good but not excellent. She was sneezing and sniffling. She often had her attention elsewhere. When it came time to get down from getting my pedicure, a basket where they keep their supplies was on the step which made my descent difficult. No help was offered to get down. During my manicure, no one asked me to get my money ready to pay. I had to dry my nails up front on practically antique dryers then dig into my purse to get my money with new polish on. Yes, my polish smudged. I have NO plans on going back there. The store is large, the location great but it needs major upgrading. read more

Just went here and had an amazing time! The staff are not only very professional but extremely kind and was by far the best pedicure experience I've had in a very long time. I can't believe I've never been here before. I've gotten my nails done 100,000 times and this was definitely the best experience ever. First off they were running about 15 min behind. But instead of just telling me it will be a few minutes (as they often do at nail salons) the receptionist and nail technician profusely apologized and promised that wasn't their regular standard. I really appreciated their apology and truthfulness as far as the wait. Next I was offered a beverage. My nail person Wendy got it for me and put it on a convenient sliding table attached to my pedicure chair. The chair was beyond spacious with plenty of room for all of my stuff. It was actually more of a bench. Next I got a heated neck pillow which was amazing!! I never had one at a pedi. I also got a 20-30 min massage + exfoliation on my legs before and after my gel pedi. And my technician was great! Very friendly and pampering. I don't think I'll be going anywhere else!! read more

I went here for a gel manicure and had a great experience. The ambiance is very modern and the color selection is amazing - it seemed like they had matching gel/regular for all colors. Kathy did my nails and she's excellent - very detailed oriented, focused, and talented. I've never had a better experience. What really blows me away is my one nail just split so I stopped in to see if they could do anything or if it was just a lost cause. I stopped in September 30th for a gel manicure and was seated right away. Wendy did my nails and she did a PHENOMENAL job!! Not only was I very pleased with the nail service, the atmosphere inside the salon, and the friendliness of the staff, my nails have remained chip and scratch free for 3 weeks (and counting)! I can't remember ever having a nail polish, even gels, last this long especially with the work I do. I work with my hands a lot as a zookeeper and my nails take a beating, I am SHOCKED that the polish has stayed so beautiful for this long. The prices are not too expensive and honestly paying a little more is worth it for the quality services they provide. *So I was corrected, not Heather, but I must have been seated in her booth bc everything at the station was labeled 'Heather'. Let me state one thing before I start my lengthy review. I haven't gotten acrylic tips done in a long time, but I was a regular with my nail girl back in high school. I had them done every 2-3 weeks, pink and white acrylics. I know what good work entails, and how the end product should look. With that said, I recently started biting my nails again from the stress of being back in school. Wanting to grow them out a bit, I decided to get acrylic tips while on summer break. Having seen the great reviews on yelp, I decided to make an appointment before going in. The receptionist was friendly and gave me an appointment time of 6:10 (or maybe 6:15). I asked her if this would be an adequate amount of time. I did not want to be rushed, nor did I want the nail tech to do a sloppy job trying to finish up by their closing time. However, she stated that it was completely fine, and that she would see me at my appointment. I get to the salon by 6:05, and was told by the receptionist that they are a little behind schedule, and that I should just have a seat. Okay. That's fine. At around 6:20, one of the techs comes up to me and says, "I am really busy. You should have made an appointment." So I'm a bit confused and reply, "I did. 6:10/6:15 actually." She kind of just said okay and walked away. It's 6:30, and I'm getting ready to walk out when another tech by the name of Heather asks me to sit in her chair. Before I sat down, once again, I asked if 30 minutes would be adequate time. I don't want to be rushed with a sloppy job, and she said it was completely fine. I trusted her and sat down at her station. She was nice and engaged in a little convo, but I was studying something on my iPad, and she let me be, which was nice. Almost immediately, I noticed Heather not doing a single thing about my cuticles. No pushing back, clipping.. nothing. She actually went over them with her drill and it looked like I had just knawled on them. Second, when she was applying the acrylic, I immediately notice how thick and uneven it was. However, I figured she would drill them down eventually so I just went with it. I think she finished the actual applying and drilling of acrylics in maybe 25 minutes top. It felt like such a crappy job, honestly. Next, I requested a gel color on top. I noticed her painting it right at the nail bed, almost getting the polish on to my cuticles. It was such a poor job, but I felt extremely uncomfortable with everyone just waiting around the nail bar for Heather to finish up with me (it was about 7:20 at this point). I quickly pay and ran to my car to take a look at my nails in normal lighting (the salon is a bit dark in my opinion). I was EXTREMELY disappointed. As you can see in the pictures, Heather left so much of the acrylic under the nail. It just looked incredibly messy and dirty. Like, you couldn't spend an extra minute or two going under my nails with the buffer? Also, the nails were kind of shaped weird, some longer than the other. As I mentioned above, the paint job wasn't great as well. I was just extremely disappointed and frustrated bc I stated NUMEROUS times, if time is an issue, I can reschedule. I was afraid of a half-assed job and made it vocal so many times. In the end, that's what I got. I should have just walked out when my gut feeling was telling me that it was getting to be too late. I will end the review by saying that I went to a different salon 3 days after to have them removed and redone. Two stars only because the receptionist and Heather were nice (the first nail tech that approached me was rude). However, the quality of work I had received was poor. read more

I went for a regular manicure on Friday afternoon. They were great with COVID and my manicurist was very friendly and quick which I liked. However, the shape wasn't consistent across all of my nails and they began to chip by Sunday. By today (Tuesday) I have multiple nails with huge chunks of polish having chipped. Loved this! Just went in for an express manicure. I'm scary careful about the polish I use and I read that they had Zoya polish which is one of the 5-7 free polishes. Super psyched about the color choices and they were able to fit me in pretty quickly. For $14 I was pretty happy with the results... 40 minutes later and I was done! Just know that tips are cash only, which is super inconvenient for those of us who don't carry cash normally. Going back for a pedicure! read more

My fiancé sent me to Akoi for a relaxation mani/pedi. They sat me at one of the manicure chairs where I waited for at least a half hour only to move me to the Pedicure chairs to wait another 45 mins. The girl that came over was nice but she said she has an appointment with another customer soon so she wouldn't be able to do my manicure. She repeatedly answered her phone and texted with other clients. She ended up doing all mani, pedi and eyebrow wax. the wax I had to remind them about I already don't like taking all the time for myself but when I do it should be a good professional experience. All I wanted to do was leave and never come back. I shouldn't have left a tip but maybe they will think of the person in front of them and not the NEXT customer. read more

While I agree with others that their prices are a little on the high side, I think you get what you pay for. I'm sick of paying for gel manicures that barely last longer than a regular $10 paint job. I have been to two other salons in the area and my gel starts peeling within 2-3 days. I attribute this to their sloppy work getting the gel on my cuticles which then breaks the seal as soon as my nails grow the slightest bit. Mary did my most recent manicure and you can tell she takes pride in her work. She checked every nail before putting them under the light. It has been 10 days and aside from a little grow out they look phenomenal. She did a great job on my toes as well. I only wish they had massage pedicure chairs. I've been bouncing around trying different nail salons in the area for the last 6 months. This ones a keeper. I love that it is not set up like the typical industrial school room of white tables with lamps and a wall of massage chairs. The decor is sleek and modern. There is a high top granite HEATED bar that runs a good 12 feet where the manicures are done. You sit, the manicurist stands. They take their time and are happy to suggest art from Pinterest and other web pages if you want something new. The pedicure stations are side by side on a long leather bench with square arm rest which also hold the complimentary water or coffee/tea. I appreciated that I actually needed an appointment and was not simply told 15 mins and suffered 45 before someone was available. I got a mani/pedi and couldn't be happier! read more
